A&E ‘Biography: WWE Legends’ Documentaries Returning to DVD – Another New Release for 2023

The A&E “Biography: WWE Legends” documentaries are returning to DVD in 2023!

Last time around, the A&E documentaries were split over two DVD sets, however Volume 3 looks to pack the latest documentaries into one set. The WWE legends that received a special this year were: Undertaker, Goldberg, the Bellas, Kurt Angle, Lex Luger, D-Generation X, Edge, and Rey Mysterio. All of these will make it to Home Video.

Early information suggests this to be a 5-disc DVD set, which by our count leaves more than enough room for the additional documentary on WrestleMania 1, the non-Superstar feature from the series — it’s logical therefore to suggest WM1 will be included here too. The near 13 hour runtime stated on Amazon would support this theory, we just can’t fully confirm it yet.

“Biography: WWE Legends Volume 3” is available to pre-order for January here on Amazon.com . The planned cover artwork looks like this:

BIOGRAPHY: WWE LEGENDS – VOLUME 3

Under the award-winning “Biography” banner, WWE Legends tells the intimate, personal stories behind the success of some of WWE’s most memorable Legends and events. Through rare archival footage and in-depth interviews, each episode explores a different Legend and their immense impact in the WWE universe and on pop culture. WWE Legends Volume 3 includes: The Undertaker, Goldberg, The Bella Twins, Lex Luger, and Kurt Angle.

WWE will release Crown Jewel 2022 on DVD this coming Tuesday to fans in the US, following later this month to the UK. The first sighting of the DVD comes via an eBay seller with early copies available. The photos confirm the freebie inside will be another sticker.

Crown Jewel is a 2-disc DVD set with about 1 hour and 20 minutes of bonus material featured on that second disc! The extras includes the Press Conference held prior to the event and select moments and matches from RAW and SmackDown episodes leading into Crown Jewel.

I enjoyed the first two volumes on DVD. I have no interest in the Bellas, but the others I am interested in.

Any news on if WWE Rivals will also get a release on dvd?

It just dawned on me, if they’re going the route of an all in one set, that means there shouldn’t be manufacturing errors this time. (Such as Volume 1 case including volume 2 discs) I didn’t even get the previous volumes until recently because of that error. And so you knew you were getting the right discs with volume 1, they put a yellow sticker on that one’s barcode, which is placed on the outer plastic of the case, so peeling it off wasn’t a hassle.

Does anyone know if ”W.W.E EVIL” is coming out on d.v.d ?

People talk about the UK exclusives as if we’re getting great stuff currently, but it’s largely just been repackaged Attitude Era and Undertaker double-dip sh*t for a while now. Would be nice if we got the A&E Biographies instead.

Don’t get me wrong, I know in the past, years ago, the UK got some great exclusives that the US missed out on, but not so much lately.

I was hoping for this and it looks like I’m getting my wish. I wondered how they were gonna do it since there were 9 documentaries as opposed to 8 this time around, which would’ve made it 5 discs total as the article suggested. But to know they’re doing an all in one set, I’m shocked given that first season was split into two volumes and since it seems 1 and 2 disc sets seem to be the trend these days, but I’m still glad they’re doing it this way.

A&E releasing Biography: WWE Legends on DVDs this month

A&E will be releasing the 8-part documentary series Biography: WWE Legends Volume 1 and Volume 2 on DVD on September 21.

The two-volume series will feature all eight documentaries, produced by A&E and WWE Network, which aired this year every Sunday.

Volume 1 will feature Steve Austin, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Macho Man Randy Savage, and Booker T bios while volume 2 will consist of Shawn Michaels, Ultimate Warrior, Mick Foley, Bret “Hitman” Hart.

Helmed by some of the industry’s top directors and storytellers, Biography: WWE Legends gives fans the ultimate ringside seat to the real-life stories behind the showbiz acrobatics, smack talk, and larger-than-life alter-egos of these WWE legends.

The DVDs will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98 each.

A&E'S WWE LEGENDS BIOGRAPHY DVDS RELEASED TODAY

The A&E Biography specials produced earlier this year on a number of WWE stars will be released on DVD next Tueday 9/21. 

Lionsgate will release two separate DVDs.  The first DVD will feature the A&E Biographies for Steve Austin, Booker T, Randy Savage and Roddy Piper.  The second DVD will feature the A&E Biographies for Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and The Ultimate Warrior.  There is no word if there are any extras on the DVD releases.

As all things WWE take over the world ahead of the 40th annual WrestleMania , A&E’s Biography series continues to do its part in telling the stories behind the success of some of WWE’s most memorable legends and events. And this weekend’s documentary is no exception as A&E tells the story of The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, courtesy of Paul Heyman.

In an article posted by WWE on its website , Biography: WWE Legends featuring Roman Reigns was directed and executive produced by The Wiseman himself.

“I wanted the most authentic documentary in the history of #WWEonAE,” Roman Reigns said in a statement posted by WWE. “The Wiseman was the only one who could do this story the justice it deserves. There’s so much about me that I’ve never discussed in public before. This is the true story of Joe Anoa’i and Roman Reigns!”

The trailer for the upcoming biography, featuring Heyman, an inductee to this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class , is now on WWE’s YouTube channel . The exclusive sneak peek shows legends like Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Triple H preparing to acknowledge The Tribal Chief, with Heyman admitting his personal bias will also be on display.

“The opinion you’re about to hear is quite biased. But just because it’s biased, doesn’t make it wrong,” said Heyman in the trailer.

Long before their on-screen pairing, Heyman was often effusive in his praise of Reigns. In 2015, before Reigns’ encounter with Heyman’s then-client, Brock Lesnar, at WrestleMania 31 , Heyman declared Reigns the greatest of all time, saying , “You’re the guy... you are. Roman Reigns versus any other man in history, my money is on Roman Reigns.”

In 2020, the two came together as both men languished in an ocean of obscurity, with Heyman left alone after Lesnar went home following WrestleMania 36 and as Reigns went into seclusion to be with his family during the pandemic. They reemerged, together, from their exiles later that summer, with their alliance paying immediate dividends as Reigns captured the Universal Championship within a week of his comeback.

While viewers can expect a heavy-handed dose of Heyman laying the praise on thick for his and our Tribal Chief, they can also be sure to learn about the personal struggles of the man known as The Head of the Table as he opens up about his life and career.

Fans of wrestling, history, entertainment, and heartwarming tales alike can learn about and acknowledge the most preeminent performer in sports entertainment history when Biography: WWE Legends featuring Roman Reigns airs this Sunday night, March 31, on A&E at 9/8 C.
