Reasoning and Problem Solving Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1,000 Reasoning and Problem Solving Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1,000 Developing 1a. The pattern is multiply by 10. A. 1,000 and 10,000, B. 7,600 and 76,000, C. 1,540 and 15,400. 2a. Sinead is correct. Cian has only added 2 zeros to his number and not multiplied by 100. 3a.
8a. A. apple = 10 if the banana = 100 or the apple = 100 if the banana = 10 because 10 x 100 x 4,261 = 4,261,000. C. strawberry = 10 and the pear = 10 because 3117 x 10 x 10 = 311,700 9a. B is the odd one out because 55 tens and 4 ones = 554 x 100 = 55,400 and 50 tens and 45 ones = 545 x 1,000 = 545,000.
And then you're just changing the order of multiplication. You're saying hey, let me multiply the two and the eight. You multiply the two times the eight, and you get 16. And then you multiply the times 1,000 times 1,000. So times 1,000 times 1,000. And 1,000 1,000s, that's one million.
Greater Depth Choose the digit card to match the calculation multiplying by 10, 100 and 1,000. Multi-step problems, using decimal numbers (e.g. 13.425 x 10 x 100 x 10).
