Community Action Program for Children

The sponsoring agency for Hamilton CAPC is the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton.

The Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton (SPRC) is a non-profit, registered charitable organization incorporated in 1966, and governed by a community-based Board of Directors. The SPRC is funded primarily by the United Way and receive additional funding by the City of Hamilton, purchase-of-service agreements with agencies/other levels of government, and membership fees.

The goal of the SPRC is to improve the quality of life for everyone in Hamilton through research, community development, community engagement, and system and service planning.

Community Development

  • Support groups and organizations in developing plans for addressing community concerns
  • Assist community groups to conduct their own research projects
  • Work with new community groups to develop their goals and action plans

Community Engagement

  • Encourage participation of all individuals in community life
  • Engage members of the community in planning and decision-making
  • Identify social trends and issues in our community
  • Produce publications in order to guide community groups and programs
  • Develop policy and trend analyses to inform our community

System and Service Planning

  • Facilitate planning and coordination among social service providers in Hamilton
  • Identify service needs and support the development of new community initiatives
