D irekte rede is iemand se presiese woorde, net soos wat daardie persoon dit vertel.

Reëls om te onthou:

Die direkte woorde kom in aanhalingstekens " ".

Alle leestekens staan altyd binne die aanhalingstekens.

Voor die direkte woorde kom daar 'n dubbelpunt.

Indien die sin met die direkte woorde begin, word dit deur 'n komma, vraagteken of uitroepteken gevolg, maar nie 'n punt nie.

Byvoorbeeld : " Ek is rasend honger," sê Jan.

Ind irekte rede

Indirekte rede is wanneer jy iemand se woorde oorvertel.

Reëls o m te onthou:

D at, of, om... te, dat... moet word gebruik.

Byvoorbeeld: Jan sê dat hy nie meer honger is nie.

Wanneer die direkte sin in die verlede tyd geskryf is, moet die indirekte sin ook in die verlede tyd wees.

Voornaamwoorde verander.

Byvoorbeeld : Mila sê: " Ek is lui." (direkte rede)

Mila sê dat sy lui is. (indirekte rede)
