What is Envato Elements? An HONEST Review (Is it worth it?)

Envato Elements is a huge library of digital content at a surprisingly affordable cost. Subscribers get unlimited digital assets with generous commercial licenses. There are a few things to know before you purchase, so I’ll cover everything you need to know before signing up.

Envato Elements - HONEST Review & Tutorial

I’ve been using Envato Elements for my YouTube channel, blog and client projects for over two years now. Content creators, freelancers, designers or anyone promoting themselves or their business online could benefit from the service.

This Envato Elements review is an honest one. I give you the pros, the cons and what to be aware of if you’re on the fence about becoming a subscriber.

I am not sponsored by Envato Elements, but this page does include affiliate links which pay a commission (at no additional cost to you).

What Does Envato Elements Include?

The best thing about Envato Elements is the enormous library of assets available to subscribers. There are over 57 million assets on the platform and they’re thoroughly vetted for quality. Trust me, quality has not been an issue in my experience.

Here’s a quick overview of the types of content available with Envato Elements.

Stock Video

There are over 3,000,000 stock videos, searchable every way you can imagine. There are 94,000 with transparent alpha channels and 188,000 that loop. These are high resolution, high quality videos you can use in your creations.

A sampling of stock videos available with an Envato Elements subscription.

Stock Photos

There are 5.2 Million stock photos in the library. By comparison, Pixabay has about 1.4 million and EVERYONE uses them. There’s a feature that allows us to search by color to match the color scheme we are going for.

Examples of stock photos available as part of an Envato Elements subscription.

Music and Sound Effects

There are over 130,000 music tracks and 600,000 sound effects on Envato Elements. These are great, but I’m going to give you the good and the bad about Envato. Yes, you can use these sound assets for a lot of things including YouTube.

But, see below for some specifics on Content ID that can affect YouTubers.

Music and Sound Effects available to download from Envato Elements.

Video Templates

There are 60,000 customizable video templates we can use to quickly add style, effects and more to our videos. These include: transition effects, animated text effects, logo effects, video intros and more.

Examples of video templates including transitions and titles from Envato Elements.

When I started using Envato’s video templates on my YouTube videos, the quality shot through the roof.

Graphic Templates

The graphic templates category has more than I’ll be able to cover here. Background images, textures, icons and plenty more. The most useful may be their social media templates.

Examples of graphic social media and print templates available on Envato Elements.

I know you can get fonts all over the internet, but Envato gives us 15,000 good ones that are easy to download and install. We may never have to use the same font twice!

A sample of fonts available with an Envato Elements subscription.

Presentation Templates, WordPress Themes and Plug-ins

Create beautiful presentations in no time with customized templates ready to go in all of the main presentation software. For web designers, there are many WordPress templates, elements and themes to choose from.

Examples of powerpoint, keynote and google slide templates available on Envato Elements.

Envato Elements has a large library of “3D objects.” I got really excited about these when I thought they were OBJ or FBX files for 3D programs like Blender. But, they’re not.

We can turn the 3D objects 360 degrees to get whatever angle we want. Then we take a snapshot and download as a PNG file. They can be useful for concept work and 2D Kitbashing.

There are generic versions of brand products that can be useful for websites to use without violating trademarks. See this for more on how to use the 3D models from Envato.

Examples of 3D models available on Envato Elements

Add-ons for Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and More

ADD-ONS! There is an entire category of add-ons for programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom. These have become some of the most valuable tools I use from Envato Elements.

Examples of Photoshop Actions and presets included with a subscription to Envato Elements

We can use thousands of Photoshop actions to make amazing effects for images in seconds. This by itself was worth the money for me!

How Much Does Envato Elements Cost?

Envato Elements is a subscription service and the amount of content we can use while subscribing is UNLIMITED! Individual plans are currently $33/month if we pay monthly. An annual plan brings this down to $16.50/month or about $200/year.

We can cancel anytime but once we stop subscribing, we are no longer licensed to use Envato downloads for NEW projects. Anything we created while we were a subscriber maintains its license forever.

Can I Try Envato Elements for Free?

Is there an Envato Elements free trial? Envato Elements no longer offers a free trial. You can set up a free account with very limited benefits.

With the free account, Envato makes twelve assets a month available to download. No, we don’t get to pick twelve things from Envato each month. That would be awesome! The twelve free Envato Elements assets are selected by Envato each month.

It might be worth trying, but this is nothing like having the enormous selection of content at our disposal with an actual subscription.

It’s very easy to cancel an Envato Elements subscription if you don’t want it any longer.

The Negatives of Envato Elements?

Since I’m not sponsored, I can give it to you straight. There are so many great things about Envato Elements… and two things I don’t love. I”ll cover those and then go into some specific licensing restrictions people often have questions about.

Envato Elements Licensing Per Download

Envato Elements issues licenses for downloaded assets on a per-project basis. So when we download an asset, we are required to register it with a project (referred to as an “end product”). It is then licensed only for that end product.

If we want to use it for another project, we are supposed to go back and register it again. Here’s a quick explanation of how to add a license to a previously downloaded Envato Elements asset.

There’s a reason for this. Envato’s assets are created by third party creators. Envato allocates payments to creators based on how many projects they are used in.

By registering for a new project, we tell Envato which creator should get paid for use of the asset. I’m all about fairly paying creators and so is Envato.

The other upside of this is we get a project-specific license to download. If using assets on a client’s project, we can provide them with the individualized license that is specific to their end product.

Any licenses obtained while subscribing are good forever (for you and your clients).

A screen to add a new license to an asset from Envato Elements shows a list of previous projects and the option to create a new project for the license.

Fonts and add-ons are exceptions to this. We can download and register them one time and use them as long as we are subscribers.

Envato Elements has clarified that use of an asset in a video intro or outro for YouTube or similar content is allowed with a single license. As long as the intro/outro is an element that does not change from video to video, it can be considered a single “End Product.”

Envato Elements Music on YouTube

The second issue with Envato Elements is using some of their music on YouTube. Since music on Envato is created by third parties, it is copyrighted. As a subscriber, we have a bona fide license to use the music, including on YouTube.

A Youtuber doing a product unboxing in front of a camera and microphone.

The problem is YouTube doesn’t know we have this license. Much of the music (not all) on Envato Elements is registered with Content ID. Content ID tracks and scans YouTube uploads to identify registered copyright music.

The Content ID system may flag a video (this is different than a copyright strike) and notify the copyright holder. This can cause a hold to be placed on monetization which is bad for YouTube content creators.

YouTube Content ID and P.R.O. examples from Envato Elements

There is an entire page on Envato Elements explaining how to handle this. We upload a copy of our music license to YouTube to clear the red flag. But, it’s possible the damage could already be done to our video’s performance.

I’m not going to sugar coat this. I make videos for YouTube and I wish there was a better system.

So, I don’t often use Envato Elements music on YouTube. When I do, I make sure to find tracks that are not registered with Content ID (Envato tells us which ones are registered before we download them).

I have used Envato Elements music on plenty of other platforms like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. I’ve never never had an issue on these sites regardless of whether the track was registered with Content ID or not.

Envato Elements Licensing Questions

Since I began mentioning Envato Elements on my YouTube channel, I’ve found a lot of people have questions about specific licensing restrictions for Envato Elements. Here I will cover what I can on what Envato Elements assets can and can not be used for.

A legal contract is depicted.

General Restrictions on Envato Elements Assets

Before getting into specific questions about Envato Elements licensing, here’s what you should know in general.

Envato Elements wants to allow its subscribers to use their assets for as much as they can. However, they need to ensure that our use of the elements doesn’t make them easily available for non-subscribers to access and use.

Many of the restrictions of the Envato Elements license are reasonable to ensure the assets (created by individual contributors) are not re-sold or distributed. One of the reasons the term “Elements” is in the name is these assets are intended to be used as elements in unique final products created by subscribers.

The intention is not that we take an asset, slap it on a product and sell it without adding our own value to it.

Here are a few of the specific areas I’ve received questions or concerns about the Envato Elements commercial license.

Envato Elements on YouTube

In a previous section, I covered the Content ID issue related to using Envato Elments music on YouTube (see above). There are other limitations with YouTube to be aware of.

Using Envato Elements assets in livestreaming (YouTube, Twitch, etc) is prohibited. These are considered broadcast uses and are not allowed. Using the elements in videos uploaded to YouTube (not livestreamed) is allowed.

Envato Elements in Logos

While using a logo template or other Envato Element asset as a part of a logo can be permitted, I recommend against it. Any item created with an Envato Element asset can not be trademarked.

It is often desirable to trademark a logo and therefore you should avoid using assets for your log or in logos for clients.

Envato Elements in On-Demand Content

Envato Elements assets may not be used in on-demand content or content that is behind a paywall. This would include platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. It could also be interpreted to include content on Patreon and similar sites where content is only available to members.

Envato Elements in Indie Films

While Envato states that use of assets is allowed in Indie Films, this question comes down to how the film will be distributed. Use in films which are “Theatrically Released” is not allowed and use in on-demand content is prohibited.

If I was creating an Indie Film, I would hope it was one day successful enough to be available on an on-demand platform. I would therefore avoid using Envato Elements assets in any sort of film I hoped to distribute commercially.

Envato Elements on Physical Products

Envato Elements assets may be used on physical products where effort has been made to add significant value to the product. What is not allowed is to simply take a design from Envato Elements and put it on a physical product.

A custom tee shirt design.

The assets can be incorporated into a larger design which is placed on a physical product.

By incorporating it into the design, you’ve added value to the end product and are not simply selling someone else’s design as your own.

More Info on Envato Elements licensing, see their licensing FAQ page.

Is Envato Elements Worth It?

I use Envato Elements every single day as a creator. The amount of content available with the single subscription has allowed me to cancel several other services. It is 100% worth it for me.

If you’re not sure, give it a try for a week using their current free trial. I bet you’ll see the value in it. If you create for a living (or a hobby) it is a solid investment.

Envato Elements Alternatives

I personally prefer Envato Elements over all of these alternatives. But, if you don’t think Envato Elements is right for you, here are some alternatives depending on what you’re looking for.

Storyblocks

Storyblocks is a similar subscription service to Envato Elements. Their licensing process is simpler. You don’t have to re-license downloads. But it’s a bit more expensive and the amount of content seems to be less impressive.

Premium Stock Images

If you are primarily looking for premium stock images and some video, Adobe Stock has some of the highest quality images around. The basic subscription is $29/month and it generally gets you ten images.

One of the best places if you are specifically looking for music and sound effects is Epidemic Sound. They have a large library of content and integrate their licensing directly with YouTube so there’s no concern of music causing questions about copyright issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does envato elements cost.

An Envato Elements subscription costs $39/month when billed monthly or $16.50/month when billed annually ($198/year).

Can I cancel Envato Elements at any time?

Yes. You can cancel at any time. Your account will remain active for the remainder of the time you have paid for. Then you will lose access to the library. No refund will be issued.

Today, there are dozens of stock media companies out there to choose from. You might assume their offerings are basically the same, but do you really know for sure? It’s great to have options, but sometimes too many choices can get overwhelming, leading to hasty decisions you later regret. That’s why it’s so important to educate yourself about what’s available when it comes to stock footage subscription plans. Take Storyblocks vs Envato Elements, two well-known platforms for creatives seeking royalty-free video, audio, and image files. Both offer a diverse assortment of high-quality media for your projects, but sometimes the devil is in the details.

For instance, have you compared the available tools and plugins both services offer? Have you read up on their licensing restrictions? What about the protections they offer if you’re hit with a copyright claim? Without this information, you won’t have a complete picture of which service is right for you. But you can relax – we’ve done the homework for you. In this post, we’ll be comparing and contrasting Storyblocks and Envato Elements.

Want to consider all your options? See how other providers stack up with our posts on Artlist vs Storyblocks and Storyblocks vs Motion Array .

Founded in 2009, Storyblocks provides an affordable alternative to traditional stock media platforms. Storyblocks provides creators with the right tools and assets for creating high-quality videos quickly and easily. It offers subscription plans for any budget with flexible download options. Its library contains over 1 million videos, photos, templates, sound effects, and more.

Envato Elements offers a range of unlimited monthly subscription plans aimed at creative professionals, agencies, and marketers who need a high volume of content. Its library includes a wide array of graphic design elements and templates, as well as stock footage , audio, and photos.

Storyblocks vs Envato Elements plans for individual users

Both Storyblocks and Envato Elements have subscription plans designed for individual users’ stock footage needs. But only Storyblocks offers a range of price tiers depending on your budget and how much content you wish to download. Storyblocks’ subscription plans for individuals include Starter, Unlimited All Access, and Pro. Envato Elements simplifies things a bit, offering only its Individual plan. Let’s take a closer look at some of the finer points of Storyblocks vs Envato Elements individual plans.

Storyblocks’ individual license covers unlimited worldwide distribution for print, digital, and production. This includes both commercial and personal projects. Anything downloaded from Storyblocks is yours to keep and use forever as you see fit, with a license that never expires. If you need rights certificates and cue sheets, only Storyblocks’ Pro plan includes them.

Envato Elements’ individual plan, by contrast, requires users to register every file, every time it’s downloaded. It grants an ongoing license limited to a single, specified use. This license allows use of the item on a non-exclusive, commercial, worldwide and revocable basis. Once your subscription ends, you can no longer use anything you downloaded from the Envato Elements library. Only existing use cases you registered with Envato Elements during your subscription period are still covered.

Indemnification protection offered

Indemnification is legalese for insurance that any stock content you download is safe to use for personal or commercial projects. Storyblocks’ individual plans offer indemnification for individual creators up to $20,000. This provides protection against any copyright claims that arise out of using content from their footage library.

Envato Elements offers one of the lowest indemnities in the industry. The liability protection they offer is equal to the total amount you’ve paid for your subscription in the six months preceding the claim. For its Individual plan, that would be less than $300 at the time of this writing. You also are limited to the types of liability claims you can make. For example, loss of revenue, profit, and customers are not covered.

Individual license restrictions

With Envato Elements, projects containing any registered item you’ve downloaded must be completed by the time your subscription ends. If your project remains unfinished, the license will no longer be valid. This means any items you’ve installed (like fonts) would have to be uninstalled if your subscription lapses. Envato Elements also prohibits redistribution of anything in their library, even something you’ve modified. They also restrict any downloaded files from being used for merchandising purposes. When using Envato Elements content to create an end-product for a client, you must transfer your license to them under a limited sublicense. They are not allowed to use the downloaded items the end-product contains for any other purpose. You will also have to inform them of their obligations under the sublicense. Which could be a bit awkward.

Storyblocks content can be used for client projects under an individual license. However, it must be incorporated into an original project in some way, or the content itself must be altered. This means you’ll be covered when using Storyblocks content to create an original work you intend to share . The one caveat is that sharing (or selling) the original unaltered stock content files with the client is not allowed.

The breadth and quality of content stock footage providers offer is a key distinction when choosing a subscription plan. Some platforms specialize in certain types of footage while others provide a wide range of options. Storyblocks’ library contains over 1 million assets, compared to over 15 million for Envato Elements. But numbers alone don’t tell the whole story.

Video (4K, HD, etc.)

Storyblocks and Envato Elements both offer professional-grade footage across a broad swath of categories, themes, and resolutions. They also both offer a large collection of motion graphics. Envato Elements only offers one individual plan, which does not impose restrictions on the type of content you can download. This includes 4K video.

Storyblocks’ Starter plan only includes HD footage. So if you need 4K footage, you’ll need to sign up for an Unlimited All Access or Pro plan.

SFX and Music

Both Envato Elements and Storyblocks offer music and sound effects in many genres, themes, and moods. However, Envato Elements’ Individual plan includes both music and sound effects. Storyblocks’ Starter plan only includes music. If you need sound effects for your projects, you’ll need their Unlimited All Access or Pro plan.

Envato Elements’ Individual plan includes access to every template in their library. As for Storyblocks, only their ULAA and Pro plans include templates . Both offer Apple Motion, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Premiere Pro templates. Envato Elements’ library also has templates for Final Cut Pro.

Storyblocks and Envato Elements’ libraries both contain photos, vectors, and illustrations. All of the individual plans from both providers include access to these asset types. Envato Elements also offers graphic templates and a wider variety of graphics, including icons and objects.

Additional content

Envato Elements’ content library also includes presentation templates, fonts, add-ons, web templates, CMS templates, WordPress files, and 3D renders.

Download limits

Envato Elements’ Individual plan offers unlimited downloads with no limits . You can get unlimited downloads only through Storyblocks’ ULAA and Pro plans. Storyblocks’ Starter plan includes 5 monthly downloads.

Storyblocks’ Pro plan includes the Storyblocks plugin for Adobe Creative Cloud for Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. The Storyblocks plugin allows you to bring its entire library into your favorite editing program, including access to your on-site folders.

Envato Elements does not offer a plugin that connects their editor to various editing tools. The primary plugins it offers are for visual effects or editing for different applications. They do have a plugin for WordPress websites, however.

Storyblocks’ individual subscription plans also include access to Maker , their easy video editor that connects right to their library. This includes a selection of pre-made templates available for use. Envato Elements’ Individual plan does not include access to any apps or tools.

Looking at other stock providers besides Envato Elements? We’ve got detailed breakdowns of Artlist vs Storyblocks and Storyblocks vs Motion Array , too!

We know there’s a lot of information to absorb here. Now that we’ve covered many of the key differences between Storyblocks and Envato Elements, let’s recap some of the major points.

  • Storyblocks’ license does not require you to register assets you download for specific projects, while Envato Elements does. With Storyblocks you’ll only have one license to keep track of, as opposed to hundreds of individual, per-asset licenses.
  • Under the Individual Envato Elements license, you cannot use any downloaded asset after your subscription expires.
  • With Storyblocks, you can keep and use anything you download, even after your subscription expires.
  • Storyblocks provides up to $20,000 in indemnification protection if you face any copyright claims arising from use of their content.
  • Envato Elements provides minimal indemnification , equal to the last six months of your subscription before the claim was filed. This is equal to around $300 in protection as of this writing.
  • Both providers offer HD and 4K stock video footage, as well as templates, music, sound effects, and images.
  • Envato Elements offers a larger library and a wider variety of content types.
  • Storyblocks Pro plan includes the Storyblocks plugin for Adobe Creative Cloud, which brings Storyblocks’ entire library into After Effects or Premiere Pro.
  • Envato Elements does not offer a similar plugin, and their Individual plan does not include any such features or tools.

Envato Elements vs Storyblocks team and enterprise plans

We’ve now covered a lot of what you need to know when comparing their individual plans (and it’s certainly a lot). Now let’s pivot and take an in-depth look at their offerings designed for businesses and teams. Storyblocks’ Storyblocks for Business plan is designed for companies or organizations, while Envato Elements has their Teams and Enterprise subscription plan options.

Before we dive into the details of both companies’ licenses, there’s an important disclaimer we have to mention. While Storyblocks for Business has their license online for visitors to reference, Envato Elements does not: their website only says they offer custom licensing. The terms made publicly available are only for their Individual and Teams subscription plans. This means we can only compare Storyblocks’ business license to the Teams subscription terms, not Envato Elements Enterprise.

Permitted usage

Storyblocks for Business covers unlimited distribution worldwide for any internal or commercial projects. This includes a license written directly for your team or organization. Storyblocks’ business license does not include a derivative work requirement. This means you don’t have to make substantive changes to the assets you download if you want to reproduce them.

Storyblocks for Business also allows you to keep and use any assets you download for as long as you want. W ith Envato Elements’ Teams license, you must register every single item every time it’s downloaded. This grants an ongoing license, but only for a single, specified use. Envato Elements’ ongoing license allows you to use downloaded assets on a non-exclusive, commercial, worldwide, and revocable basis. Once your subscription ends, you can no longer use anything you downloaded from Envato Elements’ library. The one exception is use cases you registered while your subscription was active. Any projects you created containing these assets are also still covered.

Indemnification

As mentioned previously, Storyblocks provides up to $20,000 in indemnification against copyright claims for individuals. Storyblocks for Business ups that amount to $1 million, covering all users in your organization.

Envato Elements’ Teams license offers one of the lowest indemnities in the industry, both for individuals and enterprises/teams. Their liability is only equal to the amount you’ve spent for your subscription in the 6 months before the claim. For their Teams plan, that amounts to less than $400 as of this writing. You also cannot claim liability for revenue, profit, customers, and more. The only information Envato Elements h a s on its website about indemnification protection for its Enterprise plan at the time of writing is that it’s tailored.

Restrictions

Storyblocks’ business license prohibits selling, licensing, or redistributing their stock media files. Users also are not allowed to create any trademarks or logos based on anything in their library. Scripts or other programs designed to download high volumes of stock content, or doing so manually, are also restricted. Any stock files downloaded from Storyblocks cannot be used in any way that encourages violence, or for any unlawful purpose.

Model or property released content will be clearly indicated on Storyblocks’ website for commercial projects. Any content that doesn’t include release information means you’ll need to obtain written permission from the model or property owner. Otherwise you won’t be fully covered.

As for Envato Elements’ Teams license, items registered must be used for a project that’s completed before your subscription expires. If you register an item but don’t complete your project before then, the license will no longer be valid. Any items installed must be uninstalled after the subscription period ends.

Envato Elements does not permit distribution of anything in their library, even when altered. You also aren’t allowed to use anything downloaded from their library for merchandising of any kind. If you use their content in a client project, you have to transfer the license to the client under a limited sublicense. This restricts them from using the item outside of the project you created for them. The responsibility falls on you to inform clients of their obligations under this limited license.

Envato Elements and Storyblocks both have large libraries, but Envato Elements has over 15 million assets, compared to 1 million for Storyblocks. Both companies only offer bundled content plans.

Storyblocks and Envato Elements both offer professional-quality footage spanning an assortment of categories and themes. Both also offer motion graphics.

Both platforms offer in-depth selections of music and SFX across numerous moods, genres, and themes.

Envato Elements and Storyblocks both offer templates for After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Apple Motion. Envato Elements additionally provides templates for Final Cut Pro.

Photos, vectors, and other illustrations are plentiful on both sites. Envato Elements also offers graphic templates and a variety of graphics, including objects and icons.

Envato Elements’ library also includes presentation templates, fonts, add-ons, web and CMS templates, WordPress files, and 3D renders.

Storyblocks for Business and Envato Elements Enterprise both offer unlimited stock content downloads.

Both Storyblocks and Envato Elements provide a range of integrations, tools, and plug-ins to help speed up your team’s production process. But their offerings are not identical.

Storyblocks’ Enterprise plan comes with the Storyblocks plugin for Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes integration with After Effects and Premiere Pro. The plugin brings Storyblocks’ entire library into your editor of choice, including access to any on-site folders you may have.

Envato Elements’ Teams and Enterprise plans do not offer a plugin that connects their library to outside editing programs. In fact, the only plugins Envato Elements offers are for visual effects or editing for different applications. However, they do offer a WordPress plugin to simplify website creation.

Apps and tools

Storyblocks for Business includes Maker for Teams , an easy-to-use video editor packed with exclusive business features. Of course, it also directly connects to their entire stock content library. Some of these exclusive features include:

  • Apply c ustom branding settings with a single click .
  • Ability to create custom templates with pre-set fonts, colors, timing, and logos to speed up video creation .
  • Collaboration tools that make it easy to share anything you’ve created with Maker for Teams .

Envato Elements’ Teams and Enterprise plans do not appear to include access to any extra applications or tools.

Make the informed choice for your team and read our detailed breakdowns of Artlist vs Storyblocks and Storyblocks vs Motion Array .

You should now have a pretty good idea of both the similarities and differences between these popular stock media platforms. To bring it all home, let’s wrap up with some key takeaways for your team to consider.

  • If your team is larger than 6 members and you’re interested in Envato Elements’ Enterprise plan, they only do custom licensing. This means you will not be able to view the license prior to contacting them.
  • Meanwhile, Storyblocks for Business has always had their business license available online for visitors to read and reference.
  • Storyblocks’ business license doesn’t require you to register assets downloaded for specific projects , unlike Envato Elements license for Teams plans.
  • With Storyblocks you only have a single license to keep track of, instead of monitoring hundreds of individual licenses.
  • Under Envato Elements’ license for their Teams plan, users cannot use any downloaded assets once their subscription has lapsed. With Storyblocks, you’re free to keep and use anything you’ve ever downloaded from the library. Even after your subscription has ended.
  • Storyblocks for Business provides up to $1 million in indemnification for your business to protect against any copyright claims.
  • Envato Elements’ Teams plan license provides only the bare minimum of indemnification protection. No more than the amount you’ve paid for the 6 months of your subscription prior to the claim. As of this writing that’s equal to less than $400.
  • Storyblocks and Envato Elements both offer robust libraries of HD and 4K stock video footage, templates, music, sound effects, and images.
  • Envato Elements boasts a much larger library with a wider variety of content types.
  • Storyblocks for Business includes the Storyblocks plugin for easy integration with Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects and Premiere Pro. This makes it easy to work from Storyblocks’ entire content library right from your preferred editor.
  • Storyblocks for Business also includes Maker for Teams, a user-friendly video editor that connects to their entire library. Maker for Teams lets even team members with limited experience create high-quality, on-brand videos.
  • Envato Elements’ Enterprise plan does not appear to include access to any apps, tools, or plugins that connect their library to video editing software.

Choosing the right stock media subscription service for your needs is important. That goes for both solo creators and production teams. As you pore over the many available options, make sure you’re aware of each provider’s strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes a small variation in their offerings can mean the difference between the perfect fit and running into legal issues down the line.

Before you sign up for a subscription stock media service, give each option the Goldilocks test. Some will offer way more than is practical for your needs, others not nearly enough. Educate yourself about what’s out there to find the one that’s just right for you or your team.

How to Use Envato Elements: 10 Tips to Maximise Your Subscription

Envato Elements is a treasure trove of design resources with unlimited access and freedom to download as many items as you want. However, with more than 18 million creative assets to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming at first.

How do you find the best items? How does the licensing work? Is it actually unlimited or are there any hidden limitations? We have all the answers.

Whether you’ve finally subscribed to Envato Elements or planning on getting it soon, we have some useful tips and tricks on how to use Envato Elements to help you get the most out of the unlimited subscription.

Let’s get started.

What is the Envato Elements Subscription?

envato elements

Envato Elements is a marketplace full of design resources. At the time of this writing, the platform has over 18 million digital assets and it’s growing daily. This includes everything from design templates to fonts, presentation templates, video templates, website templates, plugins, stock photos and videos, and so much more.

You get unlimited access to this entire collection of creative assets for a single price with the Envato Elements subscription. You can download any item and use it however you like in your personal, client, or commercial project.

Here’s how you can take advantage of this unlimited subscription.

1. Search & Find Items Like a Pro

Learning how to search properly is the key to getting the most out of Envato Elements as it allows you to find the high-quality and best items on the platform.

envato elements how to search 1

You should start your search by picking the relevant category from the main menu. For example, let’s say you want to find a logo design template for a restaurant and you want to edit this template in Photoshop.

A business plan focuses on the overall vision, goals, and tactics of a company, while a strategic plan outlines the specific strategies, action steps, and performance measures necessary to achieve the company’s objectives.

How is business planning for a nonprofit different?

Nonprofit business planning focuses on the organization’s mission, social impact, and resource management, rather than profit generation. The financial section typically includes funding sources, expenses, and projected budgets for programs and operations.

Envato Elements offers four pricing plans: Individual, Student, Teams, and Enterprise .

All plans include access to the same library of unlimited downloads. The main difference is a particular price for larger groups, students, or those with custom needs.

Here are more details of each plan.

envato elements individual plan price

This is the most popular plan that offers unlimited downloads of high-quality graphics, templates, images, audio tracks, video clips, and more.

  • Monthly price: $39
  • Yearly price: $16.50

This plan is suitable for freelancers, designers, and content creators who require a consistent influx of resources for their projects.

Good news if you are a student reading this. Recognizing the needs of students, Envato Elements offers a discounted subscription plan tailored to their requirements.

With Student plan, you get everything the same as you would with Individual plan, just at a discounted price.

  • Monthly price: $33
  • Yearly price: $11.50

To be eligible for this plan, you’ll have to provide your educational email that proves you are either a student, a teacher, or a staff member of an accredited educational institution.

So while you are a student, the Student plan can assist you in accessing the necessary tools for your academic and creative projects.

The Teams plan is designed to facilitate group access to the platform’s content. Multiple team members can work seamlessly by sharing assets, which enhances efficiency and ensures a cohesive approach to projects.

Here’s a breakdown of Envato Elements Teams subscription pricing:

This plan is great for small to medium-sized teams working on various creative endeavors.

Consider this plan if you are part of a larger organization (6+ people) with more extensive creative needs. With the Enterprise plan, you will get custom pricing & licensing, more than 5 members, and dedicated support.

In order to get this plan, you will have to get an inquiry by filling out a form and contacting their sales team.

Envato Elements does not offer a free trial.

Instead, the platform offers affordable subscription options that allow you to explore and download without limits from their creative asset library for a fixed monthly price.

What’s more, is that the platform offers 12 freebies each month that you can get even without signing up.

Envato Elements is often regarded as a cost-effective solution for individuals and businesses seeking a wide variety of creative assets. Considering the broad array of resources available and the unlimited access provided by the subscription, many users find the $16.50 monthly fee to be quite reasonable.

Before making a purchase, I recommend considering your needs. If you have a demand for a high volume of creative assets, then Envato Elements could be one of the best investments for your business.

If you are looking for a single specific asset, you can choose Envato Market or Creative Market, offering individual asset purchases for different prices .

You can pay for Envato Elements subscription with:

  • Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)

Envato Elements supports multiple payment methods to cater to its global user base. This variety of payment options makes it convenient for subscribers from different regions to choose a method that suits their preferences and financial practices.

Canceling your Envato Elements subscription is a straightforward process. You can cancel your subscription at any time in the Account options, and you will retain access to the assets until the end of your billing cycle.

This flexibility allows subscribers to manage their plans according to their needs without any long-term commitments.

However, after the end of your subscription, you can no longer assign assets to new projects. Still, you can continue using items that were previously licensed to your projects.

If you can’t decide if Envato Elements is worth paying for, I recommend comparing it to some other similar platforms. Maybe you’ll find other platforms worth your attention.

This price comparison table should help you get an idea of how Envato Elements’ price compares to the competition.

Storyblocks

With a monthly fee of $30, Storyblocks offers users unlimited downloads of a variety of media assets. The platform has a Starter plan for just $15 per month, but it includes only 5 monthly downloads. Storyblocks is mostly used by video creators and offers integration with some Adobe Creative Cloud products.

iStock provides pricing tiers ranging from $29 to $334 per month. However, these plans come with limited downloads. Depending on the user’s needs, iStock might be suitable for those looking for specific high-quality assets but not requiring unlimited access. Compared to Envato Elements, iStock can get really expensive but might offer more high-quality photos and videos.

Creative Market

Compared to Envato Elements , Creative Market operates in a different model and is based on purchasing individual assets, allowing users to purchase individual items ranging from $2 to $19 each.

This pay-per-item approach can be cost-effective for those who only occasionally require assets and want to handpick each one.

If you find yourself consistently needing diverse creative resources, the subscription plans can offer substantial savings compared to purchasing assets individually from other platforms.

I believe the best choice is the yearly subscription which costs $16.50 per month for individuals. This plan helps you save around 57% providing access to a vast library of assets for a whole year.

The Teams plan facilitates group access and is priced per member, ranging from $58 monthly for two team members to $107.50 monthly for five members. Yearly payment offers significant savings.
