The general standard of responses was better than in the last two autumn series, with the mean having increased from 30.42 in autumn 2021, to 33.92. The standard deviation also increased from 10.62 to 12.48. The range of overall marks scored was from 0 to 72. Fully correct responses were seen in all parts of all questions.

Paper . Mark scheme . By 2000, the biology essay mark scheme had evolved into the form that was in use until the end of the previous A-level Biology specification(2410) in 2016. The essay had become worth 25 marks, as opposed to 20 marks, a mark tariff that it still uses currently. Students responding to these essay
The entry for this paper was 584; this is far lower than the normal summer entry which is normally between 30 000 and 40 000. The general standard of responses seen was somewhat poorer than in a normal summer series. The paper produced a range of marks from 2 to 63 (out of 78), the highest mark being four marks lower than in Autumn 2020.
