Hockey is the national game of India . Also, it is a popular game and an interesting game that many countries play. The game has many rules that need to be followed by each team so that a fair play can be conducted. There are different varieties of this game played across the globe. But, the basic rules remain the same at all places. If we talk about India then the track record of India then it is quite good. Indian has won six gold medals in the Olympics and many consecutive matches.

Origin and history of Hockey

It is an ancient game that is played in India for years. Also, the game is always played with a stick and a ball. Before 1272 BC it was played in Ireland and during 600 BC ancient Greece used to play it. Around the world, there are many variations of the game known by the name ice hockey, field hockey, street hockey, sled hockey, and roller hockey.

Equipment Required for Playing the Game

To play hockey in a safe manner there are various gears and equipment that protect a player from the serious injury. Moreover, this equipment includes helmets, shoulder, pads, neck guards, jockstrap, elbow pads, hockey stick, and a ball or puck.

Rules of Hockey Game

The field has a fixed dimension and it is in rectangular shape divided into two halves of equal length and breadth. In addition, earlier the game used to be of 70 minutes, which is divided into two halves. But recently a change has been made and now the game consists of 60 minutes that divides into three-quarters of 20 minutes each.

Besides, a team consists of 11 players each. The aim of the match is to hit maximum goals in the opponent team goal post. The team who successfully score more goals wins the match. Also, the dimensions of the stick and the weight of the ball is predefined in the rule books. If on the field they found the dimensions and weight incorrect then the one responsible for false play is eliminated.

Besides, most of the rules of the game are similar to Football and violation of rule has some penalties. There are rules for everything that happens during the math whether it relates to a player or the referee.

Importance of Hockey

The game has much importance in India as it has chosen it as its national game. Also, India has a bright and big deep-rooted history related to sports. In addition, India has many brilliant players that played for the country and it is the oldest known game in the country.

In conclusion, Hockey is the national game of India but it was never declared officially. But, we can make this official by bringing the golden period of hockey back once again. Currently, our hockey team lacks support from the government but with our support they can bring the glory days of hockey back.

Top 5 Canadiens Feel-Good Stories of 2023-24

Entering the last week of another losing Montreal Canadiens season in 2023-24, it’s understandable to want to look at the bigger picture as far as the rebuild is concerned. However, looking at the smaller one can reveal a fair amount of feel-good stories, too.

It just so happens that a fair bit of those are coincidentally likely to shape the overall organization moving forward, as the Canadiens logically take the next step from a competitive standpoint. Here are the top five:

5. Gignac Gets First NHL Goal at Age 26

In the interest of full disclosure, Brandon Gignac was never at any real risk of catching on in the NHL. However, the first NHL games he got in literally five years were at the very least a nice distraction from the fact the Canadiens had just traded Sean Monahan and needed someone to fill in at centre as they were effectively throwing in the towel in early February .

Now, trading Monahan when general manager Kent Hughes did was the right move to be clear. However, it was just as clear that signing Gignac to an NHL contract had more to do with filling a roster spot than discovering a diamond in the rough within the organization, even if he had impressively been (and still is) leading the Laval Rocket in scoring.

Gignac’s first career NHL goal four games in was a nice touch. However, in the end, his story had more in common with Alex Belzile’s than onlookers may have wanted to believe. Once the Canadiens claimed Colin White off waivers to take his place, he found himself right back in the American Hockey League (AHL) to help the Rocket in their quest to make the playoffs.

4. Struble Comes From Out of Nowhere to Push for Spot on Defense

In contrast, defenseman Jayden Struble has established himself as a quasi-fixture on defense, after first getting called up following an injury to fellow-defenseman Arber Xhekaj. Once Xhekaj got healthy, Struble simply stayed. His strong play effectively gave the Canadiens the chance to give Xhekaj time to hone his skills in the AHL further.

Once Xhekaj returned to the NHL, the Canadiens obviously felt the need to find room to keep Struble. Fifty-five games later, he’s established himself as a mainstay when, heading into this season, everyone had assumed the Habs were set on defense for years to come, with five left-handed defensemen on the roster in all ( excluding Lane Hutson ).

With that in mind, Struble’s battle for a spot is far from settled. He’s still waiver-exempt entering 2024-25 , making him a logical cut to refine his skills similar to Xhekaj did this year. However, to get this far after having been an organizational afterthought, at least in the eyes of many fans, has been impressive. The difference between him and, for example, Johnathan Kovacevic, who established himself last season, is age. Kovacevic is a still-young 26, but Struble, at 22 has so much higher in theory to go. This could be just the start.

3. Joel Armia Re-Establishes Himself as NHLer

Maybe few envisioned the Canadiens cutting a veteran like Joel Armia to start the season. However, the way 2022-23 went for him, with just three assists in his first 26 games, fewer still likely saw him registering a new career high in goals in 2023-24 with 17. However, that’s exactly what’s happened.

After getting another shot in the NHL due to injury, Armia has re-emerged as a middle-six force for the Canadiens. He hasn’t necessarily gone so far as to justify his $3.4 million cap hit. However, for his on-ice success this season, he has been named the team’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy candidate , also facilitating a hypothetical offseason trade as he enters the last season of his deal.

That may be the ideal ending to this specific feel-good story. However, Armia’s also re-endeared himself to Canadiens fans, making a return to the team in 2024-25 far from the worst possibility.

2. Cayden Primeau Justifies Canadiens’ Faith in Him

There were so many times goalie Cayden Primeau should have been exposed to waivers this season, at least in the opinions of many analysts. For example, out of training camp, when the Canadiens instead opted to carry three goalies, reducing the number of spots available elsewhere on the roster. Then when Jake Allen had earned a .934 save percentage (SV%) through his first four starts (by which point the Habs had thought to only give Primeau one).

Finally, there were each of the questionable games Primeau had put together himself. And there were quite a few. As it turns out, the less you play a goalie, the harder it is for them to find consistency. However, ever since the Canadiens wisely traded Allen at the deadline to the New Jersey Devils, they’ve been able to play him more. He’s responded in kind.

Since the deadline, Primeau’s gone 3-3-1 with a .924 SV%. Overall, he’s 8-9-3 with a 2.95 goals-against average and .910 SV%. His performance is all the more encouraging when you consider the league average is far lower than you might think. And, as a result, he maybe isn’t the goalie all those analysts thought initially either. He may be significantly better.

1. Juraj Slafkovsky Takes Huge Step in His Development

When Juraj Slafkovsky started off the season with two goals and seven points in his first 29 games, the Canadiens were at a crossroads. Logically they had three choices: Continue to refuse to put him in a position to succeed statistically by playing him at the bottom of the lineup, give him more playing time in the AHL or give him more playing time in the NHL.

They chose wisely by playing him on the top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, which is the spot many envisioned him filling eventually. The former first-overall pick has since started reaching his potential at apparent light speed, with 41 points in his last 51 games. If a projected generational talent like Connor Bedard, who was the next first pick after Slafkovsky a year later, is a success scoring 60 points in 65 games as a rookie, the latter is in good shape as a sophomore (despite the narrative fans of rival teams like to push).

At 20 years old (and 6-foot-3, 230 pounds) Slafkovsky has seemingly just scratched the surface of his capabilities. The notion not only instills faith that he wasn’t just the right first pick at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft but also a great pick on top of that. Furthermore, it instills further confidence Hughes and company know what they’re doing.

So, even though 2023-24 is on the verge of ending on a relative low, with the Canadiens in the same exact spot in the standings as at the end of 2022-23, things are on track. Firstly, they’ve improved in terms of points (74 instead of 68, with two more games to play).

Secondly, they’ve got significant pieces in place as we speak, all at the same position entering the NHL Draft Lottery (currently) as last season, when fans felt they had a realistic shot at winning the right to draft Bedard. Literally, the only thing that’s changed is the team is far better, the light at the end of the tunnel closer than it’s been in a long time. It’s okay to embrace its heat at least a little bit… maybe start to feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Harvard runners take on the Boston Marathon

At the bottom of the incline that steadily rises to become Heartbreak Hill, one of the toughest parts of the Boston Marathon course, stands a statue of Johnny Kelley. Twice winner of Boston, runner-up a record seven times, and top 10 finisher 18 times, Kelley dominated the race for decades with both his performances and his infectious, exuberant spirit. The statue depicts two versions of Kelley, the 27-year-old after his first Boston win, holding hands with his older self, after running the last of his 58 Boston Marathons at age 84. “Beyond the personal achievements of one man, this sculpture is a dedication to the spirit of everyone who is Young at Heart,” the plaque reads.

As this year’s Harvard-affiliated runners can attest — despite ranging in age from 20 to mid-50’s — they are all young at heart.

The NCAA men's Frozen Four gets underway on Thursday and with it comes a load of talent to watch among all four teams.

With Boston College taking on Michigan and Boston University facing Denver, we want to familiarize you with some of the notable college players who will be on display by comparing them as best as we can to current NHL players.

The fun part about making comparisons is that it's something almost every scout hates doing. It sets unreasonable and often unrealistic expectations for those players, and these things often have a way of coming back to make talent evaluators look a little foolish.

So, we're going to take a crack at it, because you can't hurt us with our own words and we're not paid to be scouts. But when you watch enough games and video of the players, certain players come to mind immediately as to who they remind you of.

That's pretty much our methodology here.

Maybe it's because Cutter Gauthier plays for Boston College and is a power forward with a lot of skill to go with his size that made us think of Alex Tuch. After all, the Buffalo Sabres star is a former Eagle and a power forward with size and skill.

Or maybe it's because Gauthier plays in such a similar way, you'd think Boston College only wants to have players built like that to load up its roster.

However, when you watch how the 20-year-old handles himself in open space and around the net with the kind of hands and shot we've seen Tuch use to light it up in Vegas and Buffalo, it's hard not to picture the two being similar.

Gauthier is the leading goal scorer in college hockey because he's able to use all of those gifts to make life miserable for opposing teams and that he's a Hobey Baker Award finalist is no surprise, either.

Anaheim Ducks fans will be relishing the idea of Gauthier lining up alongside Leo Carlsson and Trevor Zegras down the line.

Macklin Celebrini as Mitch Marner

The easiest way to describe Macklin Celebrini is to take a look down the list of past no-doubt No. 1 picks in the NHL draft and select the one he's most like. After all, he will be the No. 1 pick in June and his abilities are off the charts.

Consider he's 17 years old and tied for second in the country in scoring. He's having the best freshman season in college hockey since Jack Eichel in 2015 and Paul Kariya in 1993. That is esteemed company in college hockey and the hype he's been getting is very real.

But is he like Connor Bedard? Sort of. Their size is similar, but their skills are different.

Is he like Connor McDavid? No, because no one is.

Sidney Crosby? Well, kind of. Like Crosby, Celebrini is an avowed perfectionist and will do whatever he can to round out any of his weaknesses.

But Celebrini's abilities, size, speed, shot and passing ability remind us of Toronto's Mitch Marner. Watching him in open space causes opposing teams to freeze. He can beat them with his shot, moves or a pass to an open teammate.

While Marner gets lost in the spotlight on Auston Matthews, just think of what it'll be like if Chicago wins the lottery again and lands Celebrini to play with Bedard.

Will Smith as Leon Draisaitl

Although the San Jose Sharks' season couldn't be going worse, their biggest highlight of the year is seeing how great Will Smith has been at Boston College.

Smith is the leading scorer in college hockey and his ability to score goals himself or set up his array of top NHL prospect teammates has allowed him to show off everything he can do. Gosh, that sounds like a familiar set of abilities...just like Leon Draisaitl.

Draisaitl is an immensely talented player capable of scoring himself or feeding pucks to Connor McDavid or Zach Hyman or Evander Kane or...well, you get the idea.

Smith isn't as big as Draisaitl, but he plays the game with the same kind of fervor and tenacity. Giving him room to create is a bad idea for opposing teams and giving him room to uncork his outstanding shot is also not great for keeping Boston College off the board.

The Sharks can only hope Smith turns out to be the same kind of caliber as Draisaitl, but the Eagles are targeting a national championship with him first.

Rutger McGroarty as Robert Thomas

Watching Rutger McGroarty play a solid all-around game and provide the kind of offense that helps to uplift his Michigan teammates means he could be a reasonable comparison for several NHL players.

When you watch him play and take his size into account, though, comparing him to Blues forward Robert Thomas makes a lot of sense.

At 6'1" and 200 pounds, McGroarty has good size for the college game and is able to use that to his benefit to hang onto pucks and drive the offense. This is something Thomas has been able to do in St. Louis and has helped him set up teammates like Jordan Kyrou.

Every great team needs a leader who is capable of playing unselfish hockey, and McGroarty has been that for Michigan.

When he winds up in Winnipeg, he'll have more Wolverines flavor alongside Kyle Connor.

Jack Devine as Jake Guentzel

Even though Denver's Jack Devine doesn't always generate a ton of attention nationally, sleeping on him is a bad idea.

While Denver doesn't come with the same kind of history and hype the other teams in the 2024 Frozen Four do, Devine is helping change that conversation by being a forward capable of pressuring the puck all over the ice and forcing the issue in the offensive zone.

What makes Devine rather like Jake Guentzel is how ever-present he is around the net. Whether he's driving to the goal with or without the puck, Devine forces defenders to deal with him. And the way he's able to always get around the net has paid off handsomely for him and the Pioneers this year.

Like Guentzel, Devine is a relentless worker whose efforts sometimes overshadow his superb skill set. He never stops moving and attacking the puck. If he turns into a good professional player, the Panthers will be even richer up front.

Ryan Leonard as Gabriel Landeskog

Finding the right comparable for Ryan Leonard is difficult.

He doesn't have the kind of size his teammate Cutter Gauthier has, but he plays the game physically with skill. He has no fear of getting into dirty areas or in board battles, and he's more than capable of scoring goals and being a threat on the power play (his 13 power-play goals are tied for most in the country).

Although we've haven't seen Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog play for some time, that kind of descriptive profile seems to match up with him.

While Landeskog eventually became a stronger and weightier player to help him play more physically, expect Leonard to do the same when it's time for him to take the jump into pro hockey. That he's had a ton of success already at Boston College at 6'0", 192 pounds and plays that kind of hockey tells us that when it's time for him to graduate, he'll be ready.

His 31 goals and 36 penalty minutes in 39 games makes him one of the most penalized players among the top scorers in the country. Playing big always gets the officials' attention and Leonard's play will get everyone's attention regardless.

The Washington Capitals will be overjoyed when he's able to join them.

Gavin Brindley as Johnny Gaudreau

This comparison is perhaps a bit unfair, but when there are so few offensively dynamic players in the NHL under six-feet tall, it really cuts down the field of choices.

For Michigan's Gavin Brindley at 5'9" 170 pounds, most NHL comparable players are retired by now, but one who isn't and also played college hockey is Johnny Gaudreau.

Like Gaudreau, Brindley is capable of piling up goals while flying up the wings and using his smaller size to get into tougher areas around the net.

His speed and skill help give Michigan a dynamic weapon to score against opponents and while his size may fool some into thinking he can't withstand tougher defenses, that's usually a good way to ensure he can beat you.

That we're comparing Brindley to Gaudreau, and that Columbus drafted Brindley is not just a cheeky play by us. When you see how he attacks the game and feeds off his teammates, the comparison makes a lot of sense.

Zeev Buium as Luke Hughes

Being a young, puck-moving defenseman who piles up points in college hockey is inevitably going to draw comparisons to a small handful of players.

A year ago, we compared Boston University's  Lane Hutson to Quinn Hughes , and Denver's Zeev Buium reminds us a bit of Quinn's brother, Luke, this year.

Buium is tied with Hutson as the highest-scoring defenseman in the nation, but the key difference here is Buium is a freshman and just turned 18 in December. Watching how he handles the puck up and down the ice as well as how he manages it at the blue line within the attacking zone shows his intuition for the position is sky-high.

With 49 points including 11 goals, Buium's ability to seamlessly jump into college hockey and play at an elite level all before he's even been drafted by an NHL team compares to the hype Luke Hughes had going into his first season at Michigan.

Although Hughes had hype built in thanks to older brothers Quinn and Jack, Buium has been able to make a name for himself even with his older brother (and teammate) Sha—a 2021 second-round pick of Detroit—holding it down.

Watching Buium have the season he's having at his age and playing on defense highlights why he'll be a top pick in the draft this season.

Denver completely shut down Boston College tonight, keeping BC’s superstar offense from getting its usual chances and stopping the good scoring opportunities BC did manage. The Pioneers took home the National Championship by a score of 2-0.

Both teams got some decent chances in the first period, but nobody was able to get any grade A opportunities and the teams ended the first 20 minutes of play tied at 0.

The Pioneers scored first, taking advantage of a rebound to make it 1-0 midway through the second period. Denver then increased the lead to 2-0 late in the second as BC struggled to get anything going on offense and was plagued by turnovers.

The Eags had some good power play chances early in the third, but Denver’s goalie absolutely stood on his head to keep BC from scoring. BC got another power play with 7:58 to go, but still couldn’t get anything past Denver.

The Eagles took the lead in shots on goal late in the game, but Denver’s goalie continued to be unbeatable. BC pulled Jacob Fowler with just over 2 and a half minutes remaining, but despite some good chances weren’t able to cut into Denver’s lead and this one ended in a 2-0 final score.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, this team had a phenomenal season and played really fun to watch hockey. Next year, when the Eagles will add top recruit James Hagens, should be another fun one.

A Cleveland man says he was “meant to be there” to protect a 4-year-old boy from being hit square-on by a hockey puck that flew into the stands during an American Hockey League game last week.

Andrew Podolak, 28, struck down the rogue puck headed straight toward little Nasir Davis during the third period of the Cleveland Monsters hockey game Thursday.

And his quick reflexes sparked a friendship with the boy and his mother, Asia Davis.

Tensions were high on the ice and several fights had broken out before the puck flew off the ice.

Asia Davis detailed the horrifying near-accident in a viral TikTok, describing how the puck came “out of heaven straight towards my son’s head and he blocked it. My son had chips of ice in his hair.”

Video taken during the game by Davis’ friend shows the mother yelling “Oh, my God!” as the puck flies toward them.

Podolak can be seen standing and moving an arm in front of her son, shielding him from the impact.

The relieved mom begged her followers to help her find Podolak, whom she said deserved another thank you for stepping in and keeping the boy out of danger.

Hours and nearly 2 million views later, Podolak received her message, and the two reconnected.

“He was like, ‘I was meant to be here,’” Davis said of the serendipitous save, according to NBC News. “And he was. You cannot tell me God is not real.”

Podolak said his first instinct was to “just jump in front” of the speeding puck, reaching his hand out in front of the young boy’s face to protect him.

“It was a crazy experience,” he added.

Podolak said that he was seated in section 107, row 7, and seat 7. Davis noted that seven is her lucky number.

“You were meant to be there,” Davis told Podolak. “You’re a really special person and I just hope that you never go a day in your life without knowing that.”

“Everything happens for a reason, right?” Podolak replied.

The new friends were invited back to the Cleveland Monsters, where Nasir had the honor of dropping the puck ahead of Saturday’s game.

2024 NBA playoff picture: Everything at stake on Sunday with crucial seeding, Play-In positioning on the line

There are playoff seeds and lottery odds on the line.

After an exciting six months, the 2023-24 NBA regular season will come to an end on Sunday with a action-packed slate that features all 30 teams. All 15 games will take place in two windows, one at 1 p.m. ET and the other at 3:30 p.m. ET. The first will feature seven all-Eastern Conference matchups, while the second will have seven all-Western Conference showdowns and a meeting between the Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs . 

Heading into Sunday, there are a few things we know:

• The Boston Celtics have secured the No. 1 overall seed and homecourt advantage throughought the playoffs
• The Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks are locked into the No. 4 vs. 5 matchup in the West and will meet in the first round for the third time in five years
• The Chicago Bulls will host the Atlanta Hawks in the No. 9 vs. 10 Play-In game in the East

Everything else is still up for grabs. Ahead of Sunday, here's a look at everything that's still at stake:

Three teams battling for the No. 1 seed out West

The Oklahoma City Thunder , Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets have been scrapping over the top spot in the West for months, and there is nothing to separate them heading into the final day of the season. They are all 56-25, which makes this the first time in NBA history that three teams have the identical records after 81 games and all have a chance to earn the No. 1 seed. 

Here's a look at the games for each team:

• Thunder vs. Mavericks
• Timberwolves vs. Suns
• Nuggets at Grizzlies

The Thunder currently hold the upper hand, as there are four scenarios in which they get the No. 1 seed, compared to three scenarios where it goes to the Timberwolves and just one where the Nuggets finish on top. Here's a chart from the league that lays out all the potential outcomes. 

Pelicans vs. Suns for the final automatic playoff spot

Slightly lower down the table, there is another big race going on between the New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns for the No. 6 seed, which is the final automatic playoff spot. 

The Pelicans have a one-game lead and control their destiny. If they can beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, they'll earn the sixth seed and record their first 50-win season since 2008. Even if they lose, they could still finish sixth if the Suns also lose to the Timberwolves. The only way for the Suns to jump into sixth and guarantee a fourth consecutive playoff berth is if they beat the Timberwolves and the Pelicans lose. 

All eyes on the West Play-In 

None of the four Play-In spots in the West are set. Whichever one of the Pelicans or Suns does not get sixth will drop down to seventh and host the No. 7 vs. 8 Play-In game. It is anyone's guess how the other three spots shake out between the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors . 

The Lakers have a one-game lead on both teams and control their own destiny in the race for eighth, while the Kings are in the driver's seat for ninth and the Warriors will need help to move up. Each team, though has a path to each seed. Here's a look at the final matchups for all three teams, and the various ways this could play out:

• Lakers at Pelicans
• Kings vs. Trail Blazers
• Warriors vs. Jazz

Can the Bucks hold on to No. 2 in the East?

At the start of the month, the Milwaukee Bucks had a 2.5-game lead on the Cleveland Cavaliers and a three-game advantage on the New York Knicks in the race for the No. 2 seed. Now, heading into the final day of the season, any three of those teams could finish in second place. 

The Bucks are just 2-5 in April and will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo for their final game against the Orlando Magic after he went down with a calf strain when the two teams met earlier in the week. As for the Knicks, they've won four games in a row to give themselves a chance at the No. 2 seed for the first time since 2013. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, have done just enough lately to put themselves in the mix. 

If the Bucks win tomorrow, the standings will stay as they are now, with the Bucks in second, the Knicks in third and the Cavaliers in fourth, regardless of what happens in the other games. Should the Bucks lose, however, things get very interesting. Here's a look at each team's matchup, and the possible scenarios:

• Bucks at Magic
• Knicks vs. Bulls
• Cavaliers vs. Hornets

Four teams for two automatic playoff spots

If you thought there was a lot going on with the three-team battle for 2-4 in the East, just wait until you see what's going on with the 5-8 race. The Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers , Philadelphia 76ers all have the same 46-35 record, while the Miami Heat are at 45-36, and any of the four teams could finish in any of the four available slots.  

The big prizes, of course, are the Nos. 5 and 6 seeds, which come with automatic playoff berths. The Nos. 7 and 8 seeds will be sent to the Play-In Tournament, where they face the possibility of winding up in the lottery. 

What makes this situation so complicated is that none of the teams control their own destiny, not even the Magic, who currently occupy fifth place. Even if they win their final game, there's a scenario where they drop a spot to sixth. As such, nothing will be settled until all four teams complete their games. 

Here's the matchup for all four teams, and the seemingly endless set of possible outcomes:

• Magic vs. Bucks
• Pacers vs. Hawks
• Sixers vs. Nets
• Heat vs. Raptors

Time to think about the lottery

Down at the other end of the standings, there is in interesting "race" going on between the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards for the worst record in the league, and another between the Hornets, Trail Blazers and Spurs for the third-worst record. 

The Pistons and Wizards are already locked in as the two worst teams, but the Pistons' surprise win over the Mavericks on Friday means they are now only one game behind the Wizards in the overall league standings. If the Pistons win on Sunday -- possible against the Spurs -- and the Wizards lose -- likely against the Celtics -- the two teams would finish with identical 15-67 records. 

In that scenario, there would be a coin flip to determine who has best lottery odds. While both will receive a 14% chance at the No. 1 pick regardless, the team with the worst record/best odds cannot pick worse than fifth overall. 

The more consequential spot up for grabs on Sunday is the third-worst record in the league. The 20-61 Hornets have the inside track, and a loss to the Cavaliers would assure that they finish third from the bottom. Should they win, however, that opens the door for either the Trail Blazers or Spurs, who are both 21-60, to draw even with a loss. 

Should two or more of this group finish with the same 21-61 record, there would be a coin flip to determine the third-best lottery odds. That is notable because the three worst records all have a 14% chance at winning the lottery, while the fourth-worst team has a 12.5% chance and the fifth-worst team has a 10.5% chance.
