General Instructions for submitting Online Application

• You need to register first, before filling of the online entrance application form.
• Click on the button  NEW REGISTRTION that appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.
• Fill in the UserName and password in the appropriate columns correctly.
• Remember, while choosing your  UserName it must be in between 8 to 16 characters.
• While choosing your  password  it must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.
• After filling the mandatory information click the "SUBMIT" button.
• Your username will be instantly sent to you via e-mail and SMS.
• Remember your Username and Password for subsequent login.
• If you have already registered i.e you are an existing user click the "LOGIN" button.
• Scanned passport size Photograph (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB)
• Credit Card (Master/Visa)
• Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
• Net Banking
• Note: It is suggested to scan documents from your originals. Once you have uploaded the document, click the next button you will get the further information related to online application which you need to fill up.
• After the final submission of online application form, download the filled in application form, take the printout and enclose the hardcopies/photocopies of all the documents and certificates as mentioned in the student handbook and prospectus to be submitted during counseling for final admission.

Instructions pertaining to Reservation of Seats, Fees and Exam pattern for PhD Entrance Test – 2022

•  The number of seats to be advertised in different categories (GEN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) is as per the Reservation Policy for Research Degree Programmes and DOPT,Govt of India .norms amended from time to time.  Appendix II of the Information Brochure  may be referred in this regard.  
• Five percent (5%) seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). However such candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong  (Ref.Annexure II of Information Brochure 2022).
• Submission of application forms will be online only.  Entrance Examination is compulsory for all candidates including MPhil / NET / JRF etc., for admission to Research Degree Programmes. No exemption from appearing for the Entrance Test is permissible.
• Application Fee for  submission of online application is  Rs 1000.  
•    Application fee is  non-refundable.
•    No request for   change in category,   shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.
• Applicants are advised to submit onle application only, as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
• Eligibility for appearing in the Entrance Test  is subject to the candidate fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed in the IGNOU Regulations  for conduct of Research Programmes which is as under: 

A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, provided he/she:

   ....... Possesses Master’s Degree  from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University with at least  55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer), EWS and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time. *

* Note : Applicants are requested to carefully go through the eligibility criteria as per the details mentioned at Annexure –II and make sure that they fulfill the same. If any discrepancy is found at a later stage, the University reserves all the rights to not consider such cases.

8.  In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

9.  Weightage of Entrance Test is 70% and 30% weightage is for the Interview.

10. 50% is the qualifying marks  in the Entrance Test for  Open Category.  For  SC/ST/OBC, EWS /PWD, the qualifying mark is  45% .

11. Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.

  Syllabus and Question paper

• a)   The syllabus of the Entrance Test is as per the ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of MPhil / PhD Degrees) Regulations, 2022  comprising 50% on Research methodology and 50% on specific subject.
• b)   The question paper shall have  questions consisting of  50% on research methodology and 50% on specific subject .

• Submission of application for PhD Programme will be online only. The candidate can only apply for one Programme as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
• Application Fee for  submission of online application is  Rs 1000.  
• Application fee is  non-refundable.

• No request for   change in reservation category,   shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.

• Candidates awarded with fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests, as per the validity specified by the regulatory bodies, shall be exempted from Entrance Test and their selection will be based on interview. These candidates shall be considered as Category- A. Such candidates have to upload their valid fellowship award letter from the concerned implementing / awarding agency.
• For Category A Candidates , interview shall carry 100% weightage. All eligible candidates from Category A will be called for the interview.
• For Category B Candidates , the Entrance Test shall carry a weightage of 70% and 30% weightage shall be given to the interview. Those who secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layers) / Differently abled persons and EWS) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit subject to the maximum limit of five times of the available seats.

Stage II: Interview:

• Eligible candidates from Category A & Category B shall be called for interview before the Discipline Specific Admission committee. Information in this regard shall be uploaded on the University website. The respective disciplines/ schools will communicate regarding the requirement for the interview.
• The interview shall have three components comprising Research Methodology (40%) Subject domain (40%) and Communication Skills (20%).
• Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.
• A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, on the fulfillment of the following conditions :
• Candidates who have completed:
• A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision as per the decision of the UGC from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

IGNOU PhD entrance exam registration begins at NTA portal

Ignou phd entrance exam registration link will be open till december 22. the exam will be held on january 16, 2022..

The registration for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) PhD entrance exam has begun at the official website of the national testing agency (NTA). The application forms are available on the official website of the NTA at nta.ac.in. Candidates can fill and submit the application forms on or before December 22. The exam will be held on January 16, 2022.

• Go to the official website, ignou.nta.ac.in
• Click on IGNOU PhD registration
• Fill the application form
• Submit the form along with the registration fee

The last date for transaction of fee through Credit/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI is December 23.

The exam will be of 180 minutes in duration and will be held from 10 am to 1 pm.

Regarding the eligibility condition required to appear in the exam, IGNOU says those candidates are allowed who have Master's Degree from a University recognized by UGC in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks ( for General Category) in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and [50%marks in the case of SC,ST and OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September,1991] excluding grace marks.

“Those who secure at least 50% marks in the entrance test (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layers) / differently abled persons) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit, subject to the maximum limit of five times of the available seats,” the University has added.

Candidates selected for interview will be called for interview/presentation of synopsis before the discipline specific doctoral research committee

Entrance exam:.

• On the IGNOU website, a list of shortlisted candidates who will be needed to take the Entrance Exam will be posted.
• One week before the test, the admit card will be available on the IGNOU official website.
• Candidates must bring their admission card to the exam centre or they will be denied the opportunity to take the written exam.
• At the test centre, applicants must present an original identity evidence with a photograph, such as an Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport, or ID card.
• To pass the exam, students must have a minimum score of 50% on the admission exam.
• The Entrance Exam will be place in 13 different cities.

Presentation/Interview:

• Candidates who pass the written test will be invited to an interview/presentation round.
• Only the Selected Candidates will get admission offer letters.

IGNOU PhD 2022: Entrance exam tomorrow, check guidelines, pattern, marking scheme here

IGNOU will be conducting its PhD entrance exam tomorrow – February 24, 2022. Candidates can read below to know the exam pattern, marking scheme and important exam day guidelines to keep in mind for the IGNOU PhD Exam 2022.

India Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU will be conducting its PhD entrance exam tomorrow – February 24, 2022. Admit cards were released for the candidates on February 21, 2022 on the official website – ignou.nta.ac.in .  

IGNOU conducts an entrance exam for admission into its PhD courses every year. This year, National Testing Agency, NTA will be conducting the entrance exam for IGNOU PhD admissions for the session of 2021-22. The IGNOU PhD 2022 Exam will be conducted across India in various centres. 

IGNOU PhD Exam 2022 – Exam Pattern 

The PhD entrance exam will be conducted offline but through Computer Based Tests. Candidates will be given a total of 100 questions. Out of these 50 will be based on Research Methodology and 50 questions based on the course the candidates wish to enroll in. Each question carries 4 (four) marks and no negative marking will be done for incorrect answers. 

The total marks for the IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2022 is 400. The test will be conducted in Hindi and English medium.  

IGNOU PhD Exam 2022 – Marking Scheme 

As mentioned before, each question carries 4 marks. Un-attempted questions will be given no marks. Afte the conclusion of the exam, an answer key will be issued by NTA on ignou.nta.ac.in and candidates will be allowed to raise objections. However, after the process of raising objections, in case there are multiple correct options or change in key, only those candidates who have attempted it correctly as per the final answer key will be given marks. 

In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks will be awarded to all the candidates regardless of whether they have attempted the question or not.

Candidates can download their admit cards from the above-mentioned link. Candidates must carry their admit cards to their respective centres to be allowed entry into the examination hall. More guidelines for exam day have been given below 

IGNOU PhD Exam 2022 – Important Guidelines 

• Candidates should print a copy of Admit Card from the NTA website and carry it with them on the day of the exam. 
• Candidates must also carry One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the attendance sheet at the Centre. 
• Candidates must also carry any one photo ID authorised by the government, such as PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhar Card.
• If a candidate belongs to the PwD category, a PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority must be carried. 
• Candidates are required to report to the exam centre two hours before the commencement of the exam  
• Registration desk will close 90 minutes prior to the commencement of the IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2022. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the hall after the desk closes. 
• Take your seat as soon as the hall opens. The seat allotment will be mentioned on the admit card. Any candidate found to have changed room/hall or the seat on their own would not be allowed to appear for the exam and candidature will be cancelled without further questioning. 
• No baggage will be allowed inside the Examination Centre

Registration fee, Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fee

A non-refundable Registration Fee shall be charged along with the programme fee of first semester/year at the time of admission.

If a student applies for cancellation of application/admission and refund of fee, the refund request will be considered as per the University policy as under:

Before confirmation of admission:  Full Programme fee paid shall be refunded.  

After confirmation of admission:

Within 15 days of confirmation of admission : Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.500/- .  

Within 16-90 days of confirmation of admission:   Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.1000/- .  

After 90 days of confirmation of admission:   No refund shall be allowed.

Candidates applying for the PhD course in IGNOU must go through the eligibility criteria to make sure they are eligible for giving the exam. The eligibility criteria for PhD Programme in IGNOU are as follows:

• It is mandatory for the candidates to have completed the post-graduation in the relevant discipline.
• It is mandatory to have secured a minimum of 55% in post-graduation for the unreserved category people, and a 5% relaxation is given to the reserved category candidates.
• Exemption : Those candidates who have completed MPhil, along with the course work, or have passed the NET (conducted by UGC/ CSIR/ ICAR) or any other equivalent exam will not have to appear for the IGNOU entrance exam for PhD in IGNOU.

IGNOU Ph.D. Admission 2024 | Entrance Exam, Fee & Result

IGNOU Ph.D. Admission 2024: IGNOU’s Ph.D. result has been released on its official website at  @ignou.ac.in . Candidates who appeared in the PhD entrance examination on  7 January 2024  can now check the result by visiting the official website using the enrollment number.

The last date for IGNOU PhD admission was 03 January 2024 in the July academic session with a late fee of INR 200. IGNOU opened its admission window for PhD program into the December 2023 academic session. Students can fill out the registration form by visiting the official portal of the university @ignouphdjuly23.samarth.in . The registration fee for PhD program is INR 1,000.

IGNOU Trending Updates

• IGNOU Assignment last date is 30 April 2024 for June Term-end exam 2024. Students submit their assignment before the deadline.
• IGNOU has released the Exam Form for June 2024. The last date is 22 April 2024 for IGNOU Exam Form June 2024 without a late fee.
• IGNOU has closed the admission portal for all Online/ODL courses the January 2024 session. 31 March 2024 was the last date for IGNOU Admission at @ignou.ac.in.
• IGNOU re-registration has been closed for the January session. The extended last date was 31 March 2024 with a late fee of INR 500 for IGNOU Re-registration in January session.

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers various PhD specializations i.e., History, Library and Information Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Theatre Arts, Journalism, and Mass Communication, Fine Arts, Dance, Commerce, Management, Education, Gender and Development, Dairy Science, and Technology, Computer Science, Nursing, French, Vocational Education and Training, and so on, at Ph.D. levels.

A Ph.D. registration fee of 1000 INR is charged to the general candidates and an INR 800 fee to the SC, ST, and other reserved candidates. Ph.D. students have two modes of applying: online and offline. The duration of the program is a minimum of three years and a maximum of five years, and eligibility criteria include a Master’s or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% from a well-recognized university. The general category needs a minimum of 55%, and others like SC, ST , or reserved need only 50% for admission.

IGNOU PhD Admit Card: Indira Gandhi National Open University released the admit card for the PhD entrance exam 2024 for admission. Students can download the hall ticket by visiting the official website @ignou.ac.in. The entrance examination for the IGNOU Ph.D programme will be conducted on 07 January 2024 by the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

The duration of these specialized degree programs at the doctoral level is three years ; however, students can study them for as long as six years. 

IGNOU PhD entrance examination will be held on 07 January 2024 in more than 30 cities across the country using ( Computer Based Test ) CBT. The university has released the official notification of PhD entrance exam on its website.

Registration Fees:  According to the IGNOU NTA Ph.D. information brochure , the fee for the general category is Rupees 1000 . The fees for doctoral degree programs at Indira Gandhi National Open University are given in greater detail below.

• Ph.D. degree programs at IGNOU with coursework fees for the first year are 16,800 Indian rupees. 
• The doctoral degree programs of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) without coursework require an annual fee of 8,400 Indian rupees.

IGNOU Ph.D. Application Form 2024

Students who want to study Ph.D. from IGNOU must apply online mode. It is necessary to fulfill the eligibility criteria required to apply for the IGNOU Ph.D. admissions. According to eligibility criteria, one must have a Master’s degree with 55% marks from a recognized university. The application form fee is Rs. 1000 . However, for the reserved category, it is Rs. 800 /-

The admission process starts with filling out the application form. The correct details and documents must be uploaded along with the application form fee.

IGNOU PhD Admission Process 

Those applicants are keen to enroll in the Ph.D. program at the Indira Gandhi National Open University. Applicants need to follow the online admission process to reserve seats for doctoral degree programs as instructed below.

• Applicants can visit the official portal of the university @ignouphd.samarth.edu.in
• Aspirants need to do a registration.
• Use your Email Address and Password to Login the Account.
• Fill up the Online Application Form.
• Upload photo and signature in JPG/JPEG format.
• Pay an application fee of 1,000 Indian rupees via Debit Card/Credit Card etc.

IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance Exam 

• IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance admission process is available on the official link – https://ignou.nta.ac.in/  
• The IGNOU Ph.D. entrance exam will now be held on January 7, 2024 .
• The registration window has opened from 12 December 2023 till 03 January 2024 .
• The fee for the general category is Rs.1000/- and students who belong to the reserved category like SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender will get a concession and they are required to pay 800/- . 
• Admit cards will be uploaded, once the registration process is completed by the university. 
• The duration of the examination will be 180 minutes which is around 3 hours.  
• The timing of the examinations will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
• The syllabus and Questionnaire pattern will be notified soon by NTA for student assistance. 
• The medium of language is Hindi/English and the test will be held in Online mode.  
• The paper will be of 400 marks in total. 
• Students should have completed their PG/Mphil to be eligible for the Ph.D. courses . 
• General Category students must have obtained at least 55% marks in their PG/M.Phil whereas for the reserved category, students are required to score 50% marks or above in their PG/Mphil degree. 
• Merit list has been prepared to shortlist students who have qualified for the entrance examination. Afterward, the interview round will be conducted for the students whose dates are out. 

IGNOU Ph.D. Selection Criteria

Selection to Ph.D. programs at IGNOU is based on entrance exam scores. The entrance exam for PhD admission is conducted at the national level on the pattern of CSIR/UGC. Under merit, candidates who receive at least 50% on the Ph.D. entrance exam will be shortlisted for interviews up to five times the number of open seats. To be very honest, the entrance exam for Ph.D. programs is really tough.

IGNOU Ph.D. Answer key

Those who want to check and download the answer key must contact the official site of IGNOU ignouphd.samarth.edu.in . The interview schedule for the shortlisted PhD candidates has been announced. Students can check the table below to get information about the PhD Interview Schedule.   Students can check by entering their application number and password or by using their date of birth.

To challenge the answer, students have to pay Rs 200/- as the processing fee for each answer . This fee will be paid online, and also it will be non-refundable. A panel of subject experts will verify the answers, and if it is correct, the answer key of the respondents will be updated. 

How To check the answer key, one should go through the following steps:

• Visit the official website of the university.
• On the homepage, follow the link “ IGNOU Ph.D. 2024 answer key .”
• Select the login type “DOB” or “Password” and enter it accordingly.
• Hit on the “ Login ” button.
• Finally, check the answer key.

IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance Test Result

What is the IGNOU Ph.D. Result 2024 date? 28 February 2024  IGNOU has released the Ph.D. entrance Exam result on the official portal . The result will be announced online mode. To check the IGNOU Ph.D. result 2024, the student must follow the steps:

• Enter the given registration number and password.

IGNOU Ph.D. Assignments;

Indira Gandhi National Open University has started the assignment submission portal for the PhD programme to appear in the June Term-end examination. 30 April 2024 is the last date for IGNOU PhD assignment submission for June TEE. If you are looking to appear in the June Term-end examination then you need to submit your assignments on all the related topics before the last date at the official portal of the university @ignou.ac.in .

If any of the students cannot submit their assignment they will not appear in the term-end examination. Students should also make sure that all the assignments are uploaded properly and read all the related guidelines properly before the IGNOU Ph.D. assignment submission.

IGNOU Ph.D. Term End Examination

IGNOU exam form submission procedure started for the PhD students to appear in the June Term-end examinations. The last date is 22 April 2024 for the IGNOU PhD Exam form without a late fee. Students can submit the examination form by visiting the official portal of the university @exam.ignou.ac.in. IGNOU Date Sheet has been released for June TEE, exams start on 1 June 2024 and end on 6 July 2024.
