India is a country where people of all cultures and religions coexist together. I suppose that each of us has dreamt about some version of India. Obviously, we may dream about anything at any time, and as Indian citizens, we are continuously looking for methods to improve our country and see a better India. Peace and prosperity are my hopes for our great country. India will be a great country when every citizen follows the rule of law, supports the nation with their families, and does something to make India a better place.

The India of my dream would be a country where women are safe and walk freely on road. Also, it will be a place where there is freedom of equality to all and everyone can enjoy it in their true sense. Furthermore, it would be a place where there is no discrimination of caste, color, gender , creed, social or economic status, and race. In addition, I see it as a place that sees an abundance of development and growth.

How can we make our dream India possible?

If we collectively look into everything, we will be able to identify the causes and solutions to all of the world’s problems. Similarly, building a great nation and resolving its deep-rooted problems is an attainable goal. India must have the following characteristics in order to become a Great Country:

One of the main initiatives we took was building a school in a remote village that had no access to education. It was indeed a challenging task, but with our determination and the help of the local people and their leaders, we were able to get the funding and resources needed to construct the school. As I look back on the time I spent in the NGO, I feel a sense of pride knowing that I was able to make a difference and contribute to our Nation in its betterment. I hope to continuously be involved in this kind of work in the future to make a difference.

It would be an India in which there would be no racism, communalism, and regionalism. First of all, I would root out communalism, whatever its shape or form may be. I want India to be scientifically advanced, technologically better and agriculturally advanced. I would like to build an India where logic and scientific ideas would prevail over blind faith and fanaticism. Crude emotionalism and coarse sentimentalism would never rule. I would like to bring India to the apex of scientific and technological progress because the modern age is the age of science and information technology. Every country which wants to prosper and progress must give due importance to science and information technology, otherwise, it cannot achieve a good standard of living for its citizens.

The India of my dreams would be an India that is self-sufficient in food. All the barren lands would be cultivated for achieving self-sufficiency in food-grains. Agriculture would be given special attention because agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. Another green revolution would be brought about by launching intensive agricultural programmes and farmers would be asked to use better seeds and fertilisers as well as modern tools and implements.

Next, I would like the country to be highly industrialised. This is the age of industrialisation and in this age, the country should be taken to the zenith of progress and prosperity.

I would also strengthen India’s defence. The country would be so strong that no enemy would ever dare cast his covetous eyes on the sacred soil of India. Defence and security of the country would be of paramount importance. For achieving this objective, the country would be equipped with all the paraphernalia of modern defence because people worship military power in the present world. We have proved during the Kargil war that we are second to none but we would have to work harder for military supremacy.

Elimination of ignorance and illiteracy would be my next priorities because these are banes for any society. People would be educated on a mass-scale. Then, the system of democracy could be more pragmatic. Individual liberty and freedom would be defined and granted in the letter as well as spirit.

Another thing, which I would like to see in the India of my dreams, would be the abridgment of the gap between the rich and the poor. National income would be distributed rationally among all sections of society. Provision of food, housing, and clothing to one and all would be given top priority in the India of my dreams. For achieving and accomplishing this, socialism would be the only remedy which, if practiced sincerely, would usher India into an era of economic equality.

If these measures are taken with utmost sincerity, India would soon be counted among the most powerful countries of the world and would also guide those countries that are still slaves of big powers. It would be an India that Rabindranath Tagore described in his lines:

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free where the world has not been broken up into fragments, by narrow domestic walls.”

Instead, they choose to be a housewife, which should not be the ideal situation. Society should normalise things for women that men have done for decades. Various types of reservations are also provided in education or jobs to uplift women and encourage better participation.

Thankfully, the Indian government, along with NGOs and social groups, are working towards the safety and empowerment of women in India. I want women in my country to be free from social stigma and live independent lives.

The rich are becoming richer, and the poor are becoming poorer. The middle class has been standing in the same situation ever since. This should not be the ideal situation for India. The more this gap will be, the more our country and people will suffer. India has seen rapid growth in the field of technology. I want it to grow at an even greater pace and attain newer heights to make its place among the first-rate countries.

I dream of India, where people of different castes, creeds, religions, ethnic groups, and economic/ social statuses live in perfect harmony with each other. There should be fair play, and government must ensure equal employment opportunities for all its citizens.

India of my dreams would a country where freedom of equality enjoyed in its true sense. It would a place where no discrimination is done on the basis of a person’s caste, creed, religion, or social/economic status. I also dream of it as a place that sees an abundance of industrial and technological growth. Here are some of the areas that particularly require attention:

Women Empowerment

Though more and more women are stepping out of their homes and making a mark in different fields, there is still a lot of discrimination against women in our country. From female foeticide to restricting women to household tasks, there a lot of areas that need to worked upon. Many non-profit organizations have come forward to promote women’s empowerment. However, we still have to work a lot on changing the mindset of society. I dream of India that sees women as an asset, not a liability. I want it to be where men and women treated as equals.

Though the government of India is making efforts to promote the significance of seeking education, many people in the country still don’t realize its importance. India of my dreams would be a place where education made mandatory for all. The government must go further to ensure that no child in the country is devoid of education.

Employment Opportunities

Many qualified youths in the country fail to get good employment opportunities. The opportunities limited or do not pay enough to the deserving candidates. This is mainly because of weak industrial growth. Other factors, such as reservations, prevent deserving candidates from getting good opportunities. Many youths who fail to get good employment opportunities in India fly abroad and put their minds to work for other countries’ economic growth, while others roam around unemployed.

Caste Discrimination

The country is still not completely free of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and religion. It is sad to see how people belonging to the lower and weaker sections are even denied their basic rights in certain parts of the country. Besides, various fundamentalist and separatist groups provoke people to propagate their religion and talk ill about others. This often leads to unrest in the country. I dream of India, where people not discriminated against based on caste and religion.

Corruption is one of the main reasons why India cannot grow at the speed it should. Instead of making an effort to serve the country, the political leaders here are busy filling their own pockets. I dream of India, where the ministers dedicated wholly and solely to the country’s and its citizens’ development.

India of my dreams would be a country that sees all its citizens as equal and does not discriminate against them based on any criteria. I dream of a place where women respected and seen as equal to men. I also want India to see advancements in science, technology, agriculture, and education in the times to come.

India is where people belonging to different ethnic groups, castes, and religions live amicably. It boasts of a rich, variegated cultural heritage. Though colonized for a long time, India has come a long way since its independence. It has seen huge social and economic growth over the last couple of decades. However, the county has a lot of economic and social disparity. People also looked down upon because of their caste and religious preferences in many parts of the country. India of my dreams would be where every citizen enjoys true freedom of equality.

Areas of Improvement

There are a number of areas that our country still needs to work upon in order to grow and develop further. Here is a look at the four key areas that require immediate attention:

Education is the building block for any nation. One of the major drawbacks in our country is that people still do not recognize the importance of education. Those living in poverty or below the poverty line particularly overlook the importance of getting educated. They do not realize that lack of education is one of the main factors responsible for their poverty. The Government is taking steps to ensure that more and more people have access to education by promoting the right of free and compulsory education for children and by opening adult education schools. India of my dreams would a place where every citizen educated and skilled.

Gender discrimination another issue that needs to worked upon. While women are becoming aware of their rights and are doing well in various fields, they still have to fight many odds to make their place in society. The birth of a girl child still considered a curse in many parts of the country. Girls not encouraged to go for higher studies. Even those who well-qualified expected to look after their family post-marriage rather than working outside. At work, the wages paid to women are lesser than that paid to men, and the list of discrimination goes on. I dream of an India that is devoid of discrimination against women.

Technological Advancement

While India has seen a lot of growth and advancement in science and technology, it still requires working harder in this sphere. It is sad to see how genius minds from the country fly abroad to seek employment opportunities and contribute to those countries’ technological and industrial advancements rather than contributing to the development of their own country. I dream of India that offers good employment opportunities to deserving individuals and together all work towards the further technological advancement of the country.

The crime rate in India is growing by the day. Numerous rape, robbery, dowry, and murder cases reported daily, and many others go unnoticed/unreported. Lack of education, unemployment, and poverty majorly attributed to this. India of my dreams would be a country where the government is more sensitive toward the safety and security of the people. It would be a place free from all kinds of crime and exploitation.

India has seen rapid industrial growth, technological advancement, and progress in several other fields over the last few decades. However, there is still a lot of scope for improvement. India was once called the golden sparrow because of the prosperity it enjoyed. I want the country to attain that glory yet again. I do not want it to enjoy just economic richness but also become richer culturally and socially. All the citizens of the country must treated equally, and there should no discrimination or injustice.

In my dream India, education is affordable and accessible to everyone, and healthcare is easily accessible. The government assists those in need and takes measures to eliminate poverty. The economy is strong, and citizens have a sense of security. India of my dreams is a clean and green country with sustainable energy sources and innovative technologies. People are open to new ideas and are tolerant of each other. The atmosphere is with positivity and hopes for the nation’s bright future.

Empowering Women:

Empowering women and providing them equal opportunities as men is an important part of the vision of my India. In this essay on the India of my dreams, I’m sharing my thoughts on how I can change women’s life with Empowering. I dream of a nation where women get equal opportunities to work, study and enjoy life without fear of discrimination or societal prejudice. Women in India will empower to make their own decisions, choose their destinies, and pursue their goals with the same confidence as men.

Women’s safety and security are a priority in India. The government will take measures to ensure that women are safe in public places, in their homes, and in the workplace. There will be zero tolerance for any kind of violence or abuse against women. They will have the same respect as men and notice and acknowledge their voices.

My India will also be an India of love and peace. There will be no place for hatred or bigotry in my India. Everyone will treat equally regardless of their gender, caste, class, or religion. We will celebrate diversity and learn to respect and appreciate each other’s differences.

Education will be a priority in India. Everyone will have access to quality education, irrespective of their background. Encouragement of women to pursue their dreams and participate in higher education. The government will provide scholarships and other incentives to help women pursue their dreams.

Employment Opportunities

India is ripe with opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to start their businesses. This could range from starting an online store, launching a tech startup, or creating a unique product or service.

India has a vast potential for growth in the education sector. There are ample employment opportunities for qualified teachers and educators, from primary schools to universities.

#3 HealthCare

India is in need of more qualified healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and lab technicians. The demand for these professions will only grow in the coming years.

#4 Agriculture

India has a vast agricultural sector that offers employment opportunities for those looking to work in farming and animal husbandry.

Government officials should be accountable for their actions and punished if they are guilty of corruption.

The government should implement strict laws and regulations to ensure that corruption eliminates. People should educate on the dangers of corruption and how it affects everyone in the country. A strong judicial system should be in place to ensure that the guilty get punishment.

The government should invest in creating more jobs and providing better wages to its citizens. This will help reduce the need for people to resort to corruption in order to make ends meet.

No Caste Discrimination

In the India of my dreams, there is no longer any discrimination based on caste. Every person in my essay on India of my dreams or in real life treats with dignity and respect, regardless of their socio-economic background. My country, India of which I am very proud of is today a poverty ridden country mainly because of the band of corrupt leaders that rule the country. Owing to the very corrupt leaders holding the topmost post in the country, corruption has filtered down right to practically every government institute in the country. Today in my India if I need any basic work done from a government office or hospital | need to have money in my pockets to bribe the people concerned. A very sad state of affairs and yet I am proud of my country.

I am proud of my country because government machinery, set up by our country’s first and true leaders such as Mahatma Gandhiji, Nehruji, Sardar Patel etc. , is far too firm to be destroyed. In the India of my dreams, I visualize a new dynamic leader to come and set things right. One who would cause people to stop running after money desperately and make it easily available to all alike. In this way all poverty would vanish and every single person on my motherland will be able to live a content life.

In order to bring money to all the countrymen this new leader will attain peace not only to India but to all nations. He would cause the creation of Such an emotional integrity that the Police force system, vigilance, auditing, commissions, courts. Naxalisms and other disgruntled organization etc. would become matters of post and would be found in History book only. The huge amount of money thus saved will go into the people’s pockets through jobs for all.

Set 2: Essay On India Of My Dreams

Just like millions of hopeful people, even I have my own dreams of India I would like to see in future. My happiness will not have any limits once the India of my dreams comes into existence. Although India has made progress in various fields and has earned a name for itself, there are many changes that are yet to be made for further growth and progress of India.

Some of the cities and towns in India are clean and hygenic. They have wonderful buildings, monuments and places to visit. Many people wear good clothes. They travel in cars, motorcycles and public transports like buses and trains. There are several shops selling different kinds of articles. Things like different food items that are required daily, electric and electronic items, fancy and gifting articles, textiles, etc. are sold in shops.

The markets are crowded with people. One finds flood of light, especially in urban areas. In the evening, the shine of the lights everywhere dazzles our eyes. However, even in the urban areas there are many places of filth, dirt, sewage and foul-smelling garbage. The towns and the cities are partly filthy and partly clean. The areas inside small and narrow streets and lanes are far different from the main roads.

India is a land of villages. The villages constitute 80% of India. Rural India is far more different from urban areas. Due to poverty, most of the people in rural areas are not well clothed. They look shabby and unclean. Their looks show that they are neither educated nor civilized. They do not seem to be healthy. In the villages, different types of crops are grown and they reach the markets in the towns and cities. The villagers work very hard to make the towns and cities prosperous. The Government certainly pays much attention to bring about so awareness among people of rural India. However, more and continuous efforts are needed to give a better look and to make people more and more civilized in the rural areas.

India of my dreams will be an India where village dweller will be as smart, educated, well dressed, rich and sophisticated as urban people. Crimes committed towards women, children and old will not take place. The cities and towns are one-half of India and the villages are another half of the country. The traditional quality, educational achievements and economic prosperity will be equal in both the urban and the rural India. Each day we are progressing in various fields and the day is not far off when India of my dreams will certainly come into existence.

May I sit and dream for the best; who can stop me to do that. If not in reality at least in dreams, let me get the best picture of my country. Sometimes, they say, dreams can also come true, so do I also wish. I have, in my mind, the picture of an ideal India. Ideals may not be real but there is no harm in trying to be real about the ideal.

Politically, India of my dreams would be a successful democractic where all have equal rights and equal opportunities of life. Elections would be held for forming governments but voters would cast their votes for policies and programmes meant for the welfare of the masses and not on caste. If a party with a programme for general welfare comes to power, it would really and genuinely work for the welfare of the people. After getting into power the leaders would only think of the welfare of all people and not on the basis of who voted for them and who did not. It would be the government for all people irrespective of party, caste or religion.

Corruption would be an unheard of thing in India of my dreams. As it is happening today, corruption is like a canker which is eating into the vitals of our political and social life. Not only lacs but crores are being siphoned away from the amount meant for welfare schemes. That is such a black spot on the face of the country. This black spot would stand erased in India of my dreams. Money of the people would be money for the people taxes would be levied in a judicious manner, no one would try to evade them; pay the taxes as they need to be paid and then the national income thus generated would be totally used for the benefit and welfare of the people.

There would be none naked; none starving, none without a proper roof in India of my dreams. Agriculture would grow, the grannaries would be full and there would be enough for all to eat. There would be a control over population voluntarily imposed by the people over themselves. They would know the value of a planned family.

Industry would develop but not at the cost of general health. There would be no pollution created by the industries – they would use means to control pollution. Cottage industries would be encouraged to give to the rural population incentive to add to their income. Handicrafts would grow and their marketing would also be properly managed. The income would go to the artisan.

India of my dreams shall have a strong military power as strong as of any other nation; so that none dare challenge my India’s integrity and boundaries. Even the common citizen would be possessed with the civic sense and possess a pride for his nation. Socially India of my dreams would be secular but every religion and every faith shall have full freedom to function independently – each one having a regard and tolerance for the other. A social concord and cooperation and a sense of brotherhood among all shall be the hall mark of my India’s social set up.

Regard and respect for age, all due consideration for the health of all the best medical facilities available to keep people free from distress and disease shall be the sole aim of the medical profession. Not for profit but for service that would be the line on which the medical men would work. The aged would receive due care and as long as they live, life for them would appear worth living. Healthy at birth, hopeful in youth and happy in old age that would be the way of life of people in the country of my dreams.

Health, Wealth and Wisdom these would be the key words of life. How pleasant would be the day when dreams as above would be fulfilled and realised.

Everyone in this world has a vision or a hope for their future, and I am no different. However, my dream is not for my future but for my nation's future. India is a nation that is diverse and rich in many different kinds of cultures. It is a huge nation where individuals from many castes, creeds, cultures, religions, and even linguistic groups coexist. For this reason, India is renowned for being one of the greatest nations in the world at embracing diversity and togetherness.

My nation, where agriculture is the foundation and leads the GDP forward, makes me proud. I'm happy to call my country home because it has fertile soil with the right minerals to support and advance farming.

There are several types of soil in different Indian states, like black soil in Gujarat, which is good for growing cotton and soil in Kerala is good for producing rice, among others. The Green Revolution, which provided farmers with intensive agricultural initiatives, was one of the best things that ever occurred in the nation.

In the nation of my dreams, women are guarded against domestic violence, and there is no longer any hostility or violence directed against women. Equal opportunity for men and women in nation-building will contribute to the speedier growth and development of the nation.

Everyone has education access, and qualified applicants are given jobs. Crime and unlawful activity can be easily decreased in this way. In my ideal India, every aspect of the nation will be completely self-sufficient. I want India to have better scientific, agricultural, and technological advancements. The country's dry, uncultivated areas would be farmed to produce food grains. Here are some best things about India of my dream:

My biggest aim is the absolute liberation of women in all areas of life. I'm glad that women are becoming more empowered and capable of handling household duties. However, many things need to be done to empower women, such as eliminating female feticide and encouraging equality and safety in the workplace. There are still a lot of instances of physical assault and female feticide in rural India, putting women's lives at risk.

So, women would be educated and skilled in my India of dreams, they will be free to follow their interests, and passions in order to build their future and attain a respectable space in society and home. Additionally, various reservations would be offered in employment or education to support women and promote greater involvement.

As of now, fortunately, the Indian government is working with NGOs and social organizations to improve the security and empowerment of women in India. I want women to live independent lives free from societal stigma in my nation.

Since India got independence, the middle class has been in the same position. The wealthy are getting richer while the underprivileged are getting poorer. The ideal situation for India shouldn't be this. Our nation and people will suffer more the wider this disparity becomes. The underprivileged are empowered, there is no hunger or poverty, and everyone has a nice roof over their heads in the India of my dreams.

Poor kids should attend school to gain the self-assurance they need to confront the world and lead fulfilling lives. There shouldn't be a wealth disparity between the rich and the poor. Each sector of society should receive a fair share of the national income. In my view, the only effective treatment to overcome the problem is socialism.

The main goal of medical institutions should be to improve patient care and safeguard patients against illness and disease. All ages and socioeconomic groups should have access to quality medical care.

My India would have district hospitals fully equipped with the newest technology to avoid sending patients to big cities for care. The entire staff at the hospital would be competent and trained enough to handle any emergency.

The main element that can effectively aid in nation-building is education. Despite the government's numerous initiatives to advance education in the nation, many individuals are either uninformed or unaware that they exist.

So, there would no longer be any uneducated people living in the India of My Dreams; a 100% literacy rate will be achieved by providing education to everyone. We also know that everyone can find jobs to generate money if we create an education system that enables good education for everyone.

India is a nation with more than 100 crore people. Because there aren't enough jobs for everyone, this is the main cause of unemployment. Most individuals in the nation are educated, yet because of corruption, fierce competition, and numerous other factors; many people struggle to find suitable employment.

In addition, lower compensation and fewer chances in other sectors contribute to unemployment. Another significant problem is the reservation, which prevents good individuals from getting hired. Jobs will be offered in India of My Dreams based on merit, expertise, and abilities, regardless of race or ethnicity.

Caste prejudice has posed a significant barrier to Indian society's development since the country attained independence. Some people continue to experience caste discrimination in numerous villages around the nation. It is certainly shameful to watch how caste-related rights violations affect ordinary people. Thankfully, certain social groupings strongly aim to eliminate caste prejudice and give everyone an equal chance.

The key cause of caste prejudice, too, is the reservation. The deserving candidate, regardless of caste, must endure more hardship, while the undeserving candidates are easily admitted to India's best colleges. For their careers or higher education, students relocate abroad. They believe that India's educational system falls short of international standards. So, there would no caster discrimination in India of my dream.

Industrial development started with the Second five-year Plan. It has passed through different phases.

Investment from the domestic and foreign markets is needed for the growth of the industry. With the economic liberalization from July 1991 onwards, foreign direct investment has been encouraged and it has been allowed in many sectors.

Our infrastructure is far better. A large number of universities, colleges, and schools have been set up. The industrialization has taken place. Better healthcare is now available, especially in urban areas. The average lifespan has increased. The infant mortality rate has come down. Better employment opportunities are available to the youth of the country. Means of transportation and communication have undergone a sea change. I wish that India should become a highly industrialized nation. She should start cottage industries in villages and heavy industries in cities. India will make great progress in the field of science and technology. Education will be free for all. There will be no illiteracy. Every person will enjoy the free medical treatment.

I wish that our country should make great progress in science. India should make use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. India should send rockets to space and should advance in the field of science and make its own military requirements. We should establish big factories to produce all sorts of machines. India will have a strong army to safeguard its frontiers. She will neither commit any aggression nor tolerate any aggression.

I am very proud of my country, India that is Bharata. It is named Bharata after the name of a King of the Solar dynasty called Bharata. He was a very famous monarch. Now, India is a free, sovereign democratic republic, and yet it has not been able to touch even the grunge of the ancient glory and splendor. The Mughals, the Britishers, etc., exploited this ancient land for a very long time. Recently it has awakened from the slumber of inactivity, gloom, and ignoble past. India has been free for over four decades but still, things are not encouraging, ideal, and what they ought to be. There are many serious and formidable problems like that of unemployment, poverty, overpopulation, wide-spread corruption, communal tensions and riots, illiteracy, exploitation of weaker sections of the society, etc. The glaring inequalities, the appalling poverty, the increasing communal riots make my heart bleed. This is not the India of my dreams and desires.

India of my dreams will be a very strong, united, and powerful nation. Financially it would not depend on any foreign aid and assistance, rather it would help other developing countries with finance, technical know-how, and gains of research of deep and abiding nature. Militarily India would be self-sufficient, strong, and powerful, a great world power to be reckoned with. Then no neighboring country would dare to interfere in our internal problems by inciting feelings of separatism and extremism. But India would remain a peace-loving country. Her relations with her neighbors would be very cordial, friendly, and cooperative. Her very strength would help in maintaining the balance of power and peace ill the continent. India of my dream would not hesitate to develop her own atomic weapons for has not Churchill rightly said, “If you want peace to be prepared for war”. We are already a member of the world nuclear club and we have all the expertise and knowledge of nuclear energy both for peace and defense. We shall have our own delivery systems as well indigenously developed and manufactured.

I want to make India a fully developed nation. Then there would be no poverty and unemployment. These create desperation frustration and indiscipline among the people, especially the youth. Every capable person would be provided with a suitable job. There would be enough and spare job opportunities. India’s manpower is great, it is second only to China. This valuable power would be fully utilized by the expansion of trade, commerce, industries, and all other avenues of employment and wealth generation. There would be no power shortage of any kind.

The mills and factories would work day and night, for 24 hours, at full capacity. Export would be given maximum incentives to earn the valuable foreign exchange. The concept of equality of opportunity and equality before the law would be implemented both in letter and spirit. There would be absolutely no discrimination on the basis of community or creed. There would be no reservations of any kind, no concept of minority and majority. When there would be ample employment opportunities the reservation of jobs for any category would become obsolete. At the root of all communal flare-ups lies the economic causes. Remove poverty, remove illiteracy and ignorance, give people jobs, houses to live in equal opportunities in the true sense, and then see all these communal tensions and turmoil’s abolished. There would be a uniform civil code for all. The marriage registration/would be a compulsory thing. The nation would be above everything. Pseudo patriots, traitors, and people with extra loyalties, that is, to other nations, would be strictly dealt with. In India of my dreams, there would be no corruption, and no bribe, no nepotism, or favoritism. Everybody will have his or her desires fulfilled according to the merits. Merit, quality, honesty, and capability will not be compromised at all. The people of weaker sections like women, and the exploited would be given better jobs and education opportunities by offering them liberal scholarships, stipends, loans, etc., to come to the level of forwarding sections of the society, but as far merit is concerned they will have to compete with the rest others. There would be no crouches of any kind. People would be fully self-reliant, hard-working, honest, and full of self-respect. There would be time-bound and result-oriented programs. There would be no unnecessary delay in getting justice. Red-tapism and nepotism would be done away with. Employees in factories, mills, administration, and other services will automatically get their dues and so there would be no agitations, strikes, lockouts, and dharnas. The labor would have full and free participation in the management of farms and factories. They would not be simply servants but also owners of the mills. Self-employment would be encouraged and education made fully job-oriented.

I want to implement thousands of my ideas to see India of my dreams come true, but for want of space and time, it is not possible to enumerate them all here. India of my dreams, above all, will be a truly democratic country. There would be

no restriction on the press and expression of ideas if expressed with responsibility and sensibility. There would be a proper balance between rights and duties, privileges and obligations because one cannot exist without the other. It would be a Bharata of Gandhiji’s dream of Ram Rajya and that of Rabindranath Tagore’s vision:

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, Where knowledge is free, Where the world has not been broken up Into fragments by narrow domestic walls

The India of my dreams will be, in the first place, a highly developed and successful democracy. There will have to be an all-around improvement in the functioning of democracy here. The electorate has to be further enlightened in regard to its duties and responsibilities. It is also imperative for the various political parties to shed their selfish ambitions and adopt the noble ideal of service to the nation to the exclusion of everything else. In the India of my dreams, there would be no grim specters of communalism, castism, regionalism, or linguism. These unfortunate happenings have marred and undermined all our developmental efforts. As such, these forces of division and disruption have to be firmly countered, nullified, and crushed speedily and permanently. The India of my dreams will be one nation, proud of its oneness and solidarity. My countrymen must be perpetually prepared to ward off any impending threat to its independence, integrity, and sovereignty. To achieve this, the country must go all out to manufacture and stockpile nuclear weapons as the war in the modern age has entered space.

In the India of my dreams,’ the people will get the education of a standard, comparable to the best in the world. The present system of education will be reorganized and reoriented, if not scrapped altogether. It is necessary to have a nation of proud and confident citizens, who know their duties and responsibilities and not of meek and unambitious clerks.

In the India of my dreams, poverty will be greatly minimized, if not completely removed. Every citizen of the country irrespective of his caste, color, sex, or religion, will be entitled to basic facilities of life like free universal education, employment, housing, health, and Medicare. The State will take upon itself, as its duty, to look after every citizen from the cradle to the grave and in turn, expect us all to put our best foot forward for the betterment and progress of the nation. No quarter will be given to strikers or anti-social elements in any sphere of life. Workers will get their rightful due in the India of my dreams. They will no longer be dependent upon the mercy and short shrift of callous employers or politicized unions. They will be equal partners in the progress of the industry. Hence, there will be no place for strikes, lock-outs, and gheraos in our national life. Farms and factories will work to their fullest capacity in an atmosphere of peace, goodwill, and cooperation. Students out of their schools and colleges will have ready employment of their choice. The academic institutions will be free of external, disturbing influences so that the teachers, as well as the taught, can fully concentrate on learning and research.

The India of my dreams will be a highly industrialized country. Big industries and large projects will be established in all parts of the country. Its factories will produce goods for world markets also. All villages will be linked together by metalled roads or by rail. Dams and irrigation projects will convert even sandy deserts into fertile grounds for increased cultivation. The peasants will make the best use of this land.

Socially, too, caste distinctions will disappear. Social evils like the dowry system and the caste system, which impede the progress of our country, will disappear. Equality, with men, will be meted out to women in every sphere of life they will no longer be treated as the property of the menfolk. They will work side by side with them and enjoy economic independence.

The financial climate will be conducive to progress. In the India of my dreams, there will be stability in business and industry on account of liberalized economic policy. With the successful completion of more five-year plans, India will become fully self-reliant in all fields, viz., industry, agriculture, science, and technology.

Hopefully, on the war front, things will ease out. Space technology and nuclear science will be used for the benefit of mankind instead of devising new means of warfare meant to eliminate traces of mankind from the face of this Earth. India has always taken the lead in global peace efforts. India will thus take a lead in ushering in peace and prosperity in the world. Our relations with our neighbors will be cordial and amiable, thus leading to greater cooperation and strengthening of bilateral relations. The ancient Indian ideal of the entire world as one family will be realized. All this is not a Utopian ideal. Things can improve and we can look forward to life in the twenty-first century if we arm ourselves with the necessary will and determination to achieve our aspirations and goals in the remaining years of the present century.

In the India of my dreams, everybody has enough money. Though money is not the end of life, sufficient money is essential to the development of one’s personality. This general prosperity goes hand in hand with economic and social equality. The wide gulf between the rich and the poor that exists today has largely disappeared. I must emphasize that all this co-exists with democracy. People have freedom of thought and expression.

My ideal India is industrialized and modernized. Without industrialization a high standard of life is impossible. At the same time, she has not discarded her ancient traditions and distinctive culture. She embodies the best in the cultures of the East and the West. Education is widespread, and there is practically no illiteracy. People have shed superstitious, outworn ideas and customs. While India is militarily strong, she believes in non – violence and strives to spread in the world the message of peace and brotherhood of man.

I cannot better describe the India of my dreams than by quoting the famous poem of Tagore: –

Science and technology would develop to their fullest potential. Many pioneering works would place India on the list of the scientifically advanced nations’. Sustained development in agriculture and forestry would have enabled India to be one of the greenest nations in the world.

India at present needs a lot of foreign investment in terms of money and other resources. India of my dreams would be self-sufficient to the extent that it would export technology rather than import it. She would be sending her own rockets to outer space and would not be dependent on the other nations to put her satellites into orbit.

At present, our monuments and other tourist destinations are not in a good shape. India of my dreams would have developed its tourist potential to the fullest. It would attract a large number of international tourists. Problems like hotels, transport, adequate road and rail systems would have developed to give the tourism industry a boost.

In all India of my dreams would be much better than that of today.

I was embarrassed to move back in with my parents at 53. But they love having me around, and I'm finally pursuing my dream career.

After my second divorce, I moved back in with my parents at age 53.
Moving home has allowed me the financial freedom to pursue my dream career .
My parents love having me back and it's nice to be able to spend more time together.

2023 was a hard year for me. My second marriage was unraveling, and I was in the midst of a mental-health crisis.

After being a pastor's wife for 23 years and taking an early retirement from teaching to join him full-time in ministry, I wasn't sure where I was going or who I was anymore.

To make matters worse, I was living in Mississippi, which was about a five-hour trip to my family in Louisiana .

But on a trip back home amid my impending divorce , my sister posed the idea of moving back in with my parents in Louisiana. After all, they were aging, and my sister had been shouldering the burden of caring for both them and her children for nearly two decades.

The offer to move home was tempting, but I felt like I'd be slinking back to town with my middle-aged tail tucked between my legs. I was publicly processing my pain and couldn't give people more to talk about by "moving in with mommy."

I knew I was successful — I have a master's degree and plenty of community-leadership accolades. However, I'd already gotten tongues wagging by tossing in my prim-and-proper status as a pastor's wife.

But after years of focusing on others, I knew it was time to turn my attention toward myself.

I was reluctant at first, but I decided it was time to follow my sister's advice

Although my sister was overwhelmed by having to care for our parents over the years, I was actually jealous of the time she had with them.

And the more I thought about it, the more I realized moving back home could give me the opportunity to reconnect with my family in person, while also focusing on my own future.

During this time, I remembered an article I'd read a few years back, which encouraged readers facing mid-life turmoil to revisit the dreams they'd had at age 10.

It was a roller coaster at first, but the safety of moving back home was healing.

In some ways, moving home was great. I got to participate in the game nights I'd missed out on while I was away, and heart-to-hearts with my dad were now in person instead of over the phone.

But I was also working through some past trauma while often reverting to my rebellious teenage self. I was moody and emotionally unstable at times and sometimes struggled with guilt over putting my own wants and needs first.

However, being in the safety of my parents' home was healing. I jokingly referred to their dog as my little sister and not-so-jokingly relied on her as an emotional-support pet.

I reclaimed a friendship with my former husband, took on the responsibility of caring for my parents, and learned how to help my mom without taking over her home.

I found some jobs writing for local newspapers and magazines, many of which were uncompensated. In the last nine months, I've had over 300 articles published locally and spent an average of 70 hours a week writing — which never would've been possible with a second full-time job and rent to pay.

While my parents are undoubtedly my biggest supporters, I realize I've become invaluable to them as well. I once joked with my mom that I had to act better than I did as a teenager since, this time, she could actually kick me out.

"Now, why would I do that? What would I do without you here?" she said.

My mouth dropped open, and tears filled my eyes. It was the nicest thing she could've ever said to me.

Freddie Flintoff ’s Field of Dreams star Umar Mahmood has died aged 18 after an accident in Preston, his school confirmed.

Mahmood was driving an Audi A3 Sport which left the carriageway on Chain Caul Way and crashed into trees on Tuesday evening.

The BBC star was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died after suffering serious injuries.

Mahmood’s father, Shahid Mahmood, told MailOnline : ‘I am heartbroken. He was just a young lad. To lose my young son is terrible.

‘I am very sad. It is his funeral later today so I will go the mosque later. His mother is doing OK but we are very sad.’

Lancashire Police said in a statement to Metro.co.uk that a 16-year-old boy travelling in the back of the car, named Adam Bodi, also died in the incident.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a front seat passenger, suffered serious injuries and is in a stable condition in hospital.

Mahmood’s school Penwortham Priory Academy paid tribute to him and remembered him as a ‘bright, studious and well-loved member of our school community.’

They said in a statement on Facebook: ‘We are again saddened as a school to hear the news that Umar Mahmood, who was in the same accident as Adam, and who left Priory 2 years ago, has also passed away.

‘Umar was a bright, studious and well-loved member of our school community. He had a passion for Geography as well as his cricket, playing for Priory’s school team and appearing in the BBC One documentary Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams.

‘It was a privilege for us here at Priory to know Umar. He was a young man who was always considerate to those around him and who showed ambition and kindness in all that he did.

‘It is of course with great sadness that we hear this news. We give our sincere condolences to all of Umar’s family and friends on behalf of the school, at what will be a very difficult time. They too, are in our thoughts and prayers today.’

Police said they are still investigating the crash and are appealing for witnesses and for CCTV and dashcam footage from the area around 10.55pm when it happened.

Sgt Paul McCurrie, of Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said: ‘This was a collision with tragic circumstances.

‘Two young people have died, and I wish to extend my sympathy to their families, loved ones and friends.

‘We are investigating how the collision happened, and we continue to ask for anyone who witnessed it to contact us.

‘Also, if anyone was driving in the Chain Caul Lane area around the time of the collision and has dash cam footage, or they have CCTV footage from the area, please get in touch.’
