How to Report a Problem on Facebook

If you’ve encountered a bug, issue, or problem while using Facebook, you can report it so that it can be resolved as soon as possible. Problems you should report range from something not working, abusive content, or just general feedback. Whatever the case, you can easily report it to Facebook using your computer or the Facebook mobile app.

Using a Computer

Step 1 Go to Facebook.

  • Use “General Feedback” for general comments or notes for Facebook. Click on the link for your choice.
  • Use “Something Isn’t Working” if there’s a bug or issue with a Facebook feature or functionality.
  • Use “Abusive Content” if you’ve found any content that can be harmful, spam, or a policy violation.

Step 5 Provide supporting data.

Step 1 Launch the Facebook app.

  • Use “Something Isn’t Working” if there’s a bug or issue with a Facebook feature or tool.

While you can try to contact Facebook directly via phone and email address, it's difficult, if not impossible, to get a response. Tweeting at Facebook could get a response, and you can also visit Facebook's Help Center or complete a support request form.

Facebook trouble? Whether you have an account-related issue , or you want to report a bug or problem, you have a few ways to contact Facebook support. We'll show you what your contact options are.

When you think of contacting a company for help, you likely first think of placing a call to talk to a customer service representative. Unfortunately, reaching Facebook support by phone is nearly impossible and not particularly useful in most cases.

Facebook does have a couple of numbers you can call to try getting in touch with the company. However, both phone numbers only play a pre-recorded message. You can't talk to a real human on either number.

If you want to try your luck calling them regardless, Facebook's support phone numbers are:

  • +1 650-543-4800
  • +1 650-308-7300

As of August 2023, those numbers are still valid and owned by Facebook. They still, alas, simply direct you to visit meta.com/help , Facebook's online help database. As always, be cautious when calling a support number. If you should call either of these numbers in the future and instead of an automated message, there is a person very interested in getting your Facebook login data, financial data, or other personal information, assume the number is no longer used by Facebook and the person on the other end is running a scam.

Facebook doesn't encourage people to contact it via email. However, in the past, Facebook listed a few email addresses that you could use to contact Facebook directly.

You can still try sending an email to one of these email addresses and possibly get a response. There's no guarantee, though. Your chance of getting a response, however, is much higher than calling the automated phone numbers we mentioned above.

We'd encourage you only to use the email addresses for their suggested purposes. It's already difficult enough to get an email response from Facebook, and if everyone spams their inquiries across multiple Facebook inboxes, it just creates more noise on the communication channel for people with legitimate abuse reports, intellectual property queries, or other issues.

These days, one of the ways you can contact a company is by tweeting them on Twitter, and Facebook is no exception.

You can send a tweet to one of Facebook's Twitter handles, and possibly get a response. There's no guarantee your query will be looked at, but it's worth trying if your issue doesn't need to be fixed urgently. Or, conversely, if the issue is very pressing and nobody is responding to you a social media shoutout is a time-honored way to get the attention of a large company that has otherwise been ignoring you.

Some of Facebook's official handles are @Meta , @FacebookApp , and @Messenger .

If you didn't get a response from Facebook's phone number, email, or Twitter account, use the platform's "Help & Support" menu to get help on many matters. This menu lets you access the site's Help Center, view responses to your reported items , and even allows you to report a bug or send feedback to Facebook.

An easy way to get help from Facebook is to access the platform's "Help & Support" menu. This menu contains the options to help you access Help Center, view responses to your reported items , and report a bug or send feedback to Facebook.

You can access this menu on both your desktop and your phone.

Get Help From Facebook on Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook

To get help on your desktop computer, launch your preferred web browser and open Facebook . There, sign in to your account.

After signing in, from the Facebook site's top-right corner, select your profile icon.

In the menu that opens, click "Help & Support."

The "Help & Support" menu offers multiple options to get help from Facebook. These options are:

  • Help Center : This takes you to Facebook's Help Center website that contains loads of resourceful guides and explainers. You'll find answers to nearly all your queries on this site.
  • Support Inbox : You'll find responses for your reported items in this section. You'll also see important messages about your account here.
  • Report a Problem : To report a broken feature or give feedback on something, use this option.

When you've chosen an option, Facebook will open a dedicated page allowing you to submit your request. And that's all.

Get Facebook's Help on an iPhone, iPad, or Android Phone

To access the platform's help options on your phone, launch the Facebook app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

If you're on Android, then in the app's top-right corner, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines). If you're on an iPhone or iPad, then in your screen's bottom-right corner, tap the "Menu" option.

On the "Menu" page that opens, scroll down to the bottom. Then, tap "Help & Support."

In the expanded "Help & Support" menu, select one of the following options:

  • Help Center : Tap this option to access Facebook's Help Center where you'll find a guide on nearly any Facebook topic. You'll also get answers to many of your account-related problems in this Help Center.
  • Support Inbox : Use this option to see the responses you've received for your reported content. Important messages regarding your account are also found here.
  • Report a Problem : To send Facebook a bug report or feedback, select this option.

After tapping an option, follow the on-screen instructions to proceed further.

One more way you can contact Facebook directly is through forms. Facebook makes several forms available that you can use to submit requests or report problems with your account or someone else's. Here are some of the forms that you can use on the site:

  • Photo Removal Request : To remove your own, your child, or another adult's photo from the platform, use this form.
  • Account Was Disabled : If your account is disabled, use this form to request Facebook to review the account.
  • Change Name : Use this form to change your first, middle, and last name in your account.
  • Confirm Identity : You can confirm your identity on Facebook by submitting a valid ID card using this form.
  • Medically Incapacitated or Deceased Person : To make changes to an account whose account holder can't do it because of medical reasons, use this form.
  • Report Violation : To report trademark or copyright violations, utilize this form.
  • Email Already in Use : If someone's using your email address in a Facebook account, report it with this form.
  • Report Underage Child : If a child below the age of 13 is using Facebook, use this form to report that child's profile to Facebook.
  • Child Data Request : Get the data Facebook has on your child with this form.
  • Report a Page Unavailable Error : If you encounter a "Page Unavailable" error on Facebook, use this form to let Facebook know about it.

After accessing a form, fill the form and submit it. Facebook will review your request and take appropriate action or get back to you asking for more details.

Does Facebook customer service exist? Yes, and here's how to get in touch

We hate to break the news to you: Facebook does not staff a team of customer service representatives working the phone lines to help you with a likely niche and nuanced problem. Not being able to reach another human for help can be really frustrating, but Facebook does have an extensive Help Center page with dozens of help articles.

Still, the Facebook support apparatus can be difficult to navigate.

Here is how to find the support you need using Facebook's Help Center. If the Help Center doesn’t have the answer to your questions, there are a couple of ways we suggest to get through to Facebook. 

How to access Facebook Customer Service

Log into your Facebook profile on desktop. 

Click the dropdown top in the upper-right corner

Select “Help & Support” from the drop-down menu

The menu will give you three options. 

The first is “Help Center.” 

Clicking this option will direct you to Facebook’s Help Center page, which is a searchable nexus of help articles. 

The second option you will see is “Support Inbox.” Here, you will find updates from Facebook on profiles or posts you’ve reported. 

The third option is “Report a Problem.” 

Here, you will find a couple of forms that allow you to submit feedback to Facebook and report any technical glitches or broken features. 

The forms allow you to attach and submit screenshots and screen recordings of the error.

How to use the Facebook Help Center

The Help Center will be your best resource. Here are some tips on navigating it. 

Use the search bar on the main page to type in what you need help with it. Your search will prompt Facebook’s relevant help articles.

In this case, we search for help changing our profile password. 

Select the relevant help article. 

The Help Center organizes its help articles into four different sections, which you will find in the left side column on the Help Center's home page. 

In the "Using Facebook" section you will find help with your Facebook profile page, messaging and Facebook groups. 

The "Managing Account" section offers support with your Facebook login and deactivating or deleting your account. 

You can access help keeping your Facebook account secure in the "Privacy, Safety and Security" section. 

The final "Policies and Reporting" section helps you report Facebook guidelines violations. You can also find help handling a deceased person's account in this section. 

You can also select from the six popular topic pages under the Help Center search bar

If you're looking for business support, Facebook also maintains a Business Help Center page .

The Help Center is accessible even if you're logged out. If you need help logging into your account, you can get help here. 

Other ways to reach Facebook Support

If the Help Center proves unhelpful, you can try your luck at reaching Facebook through other means. But keep in mind that these are long shots, and you might be redirected to Help Center page anyway.  

You can try tweeting or direct messaging the various Facebook Twitter accounts.

The Meta (Facebook’s freshly renamed parent company) Twitter account, the Facebook app Twitter account and the Facebook Messenger Twitter account are just a few Twitter accounts Facebook runs.

Some users have had luck getting a reply, though they were often redirected to the Help Center. 

You can also try emailing the general Facebook support email: [email protected]. Though users on Reddit have reported scant success in hearing back.

Facebook operates two phone numbers with Palo Alto, California, area codes: 650-543-4800 and 650-308-7300. But dialing these numbers will prompt a pre-recorded message directing you to Facebook's online support. 

"Unfortunately, we do not offer phone support at this time," the prerecorded message said when USA TODAY dialed the number. "Answers to most user inquiries can be found at the Help Center."

Teens and social media: Key findings from Pew Research Center surveys

For the latest survey data on social media and tech use among teens, see “ Teens, Social Media, and Technology 2023 .” 

Today’s teens are navigating a digital landscape unlike the one experienced by their predecessors, particularly when it comes to the pervasive presence of social media. In 2022, Pew Research Center fielded an in-depth survey asking American teens – and their parents – about their experiences with and views toward social media . Here are key findings from the survey:

Pew Research Center conducted this study to better understand American teens’ experiences with social media and their parents’ perception of these experiences. For this analysis, we surveyed 1,316 U.S. teens ages 13 to 17, along with one parent from each teen’s household. The survey was conducted online by Ipsos from April 14 to May 4, 2022.

This research was reviewed and approved by an external institutional review board (IRB), Advarra, which is an independent committee of experts that specializes in helping to protect the rights of research participants.

Ipsos invited panelists who were a parent of at least one teen ages 13 to 17 from its KnowledgePanel , a probability-based web panel recruited primarily through national, random sampling of residential addresses, to take this survey. For some of these questions, parents were asked to think about one teen in their household. (If they had multiple teenage children ages 13 to 17 in the household, one was randomly chosen.) This teen was then asked to answer questions as well. The parent portion of the survey is weighted to be representative of U.S. parents of teens ages 13 to 17 by age, gender, race, ethnicity, household income and other categories. Here are the questions used  for this report, along with responses, and its  methodology .

Majorities of teens report ever using YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat. YouTube is the platform most commonly used by teens, with 95% of those ages 13 to 17 saying they have ever used it, according to a Center survey conducted April 14-May 4, 2022, that asked about 10 online platforms. Two-thirds of teens report using TikTok, followed by roughly six-in-ten who say they use Instagram (62%) and Snapchat (59%). Much smaller shares of teens say they have ever used Twitter (23%), Twitch (20%), WhatsApp (17%), Reddit (14%) and Tumblr (5%).

Facebook use among teens dropped from 71% in 2014-15 to 32% in 2022. Twitter and Tumblr also experienced declines in teen users during that span, but Instagram and Snapchat saw notable increases.

TikTok use is more common among Black teens and among teen girls. For example, roughly eight-in-ten Black teens (81%) say they use TikTok, compared with 71% of Hispanic teens and 62% of White teens. And Hispanic teens (29%) are more likely than Black (19%) or White teens (10%) to report using WhatsApp. (There were not enough Asian teens in the sample to analyze separately.)

Teens’ use of certain social media platforms also varies by gender. Teen girls are more likely than teen boys to report using TikTok (73% vs. 60%), Instagram (69% vs. 55%) and Snapchat (64% vs. 54%). Boys are more likely than girls to report using YouTube (97% vs. 92%), Twitch (26% vs. 13%) and Reddit (20% vs. 8%).

Majorities of teens use YouTube and TikTok every day, and some report using these sites almost constantly. About three-quarters of teens (77%) say they use YouTube daily, while a smaller majority of teens (58%) say the same about TikTok. About half of teens use Instagram (50%) or Snapchat (51%) at least once a day, while 19% report daily use of Facebook.

Some teens report using these platforms almost constantly. For example, 19% say they use YouTube almost constantly, while 16% and 15% say the same about TikTok and Snapchat, respectively.

More than half of teens say it would be difficult for them to give up social media. About a third of teens (36%) say they spend too much time on social media, while 55% say they spend about the right amount of time there and just 8% say they spend too little time. Girls are more likely than boys to say they spend too much time on social media (41% vs. 31%).

Teens are relatively divided over whether it would be hard or easy for them to give up social media. Some 54% say it would be very or somewhat hard, while 46% say it would be very or somewhat easy.

Girls are more likely than boys to say it would be difficult for them to give up social media (58% vs. 49%). Older teens are also more likely than younger teens to say this: 58% of those ages 15 to 17 say it would be very or somewhat hard to give up social media, compared with 48% of those ages 13 to 14.

Teens are more likely to say social media has had a negative effect on others than on themselves. Some 32% say social media has had a mostly negative effect on people their age, while 9% say this about social media’s effect on themselves.

Conversely, teens are more likely to say these platforms have had a mostly positive impact on their own life than on those of their peers. About a third of teens (32%) say social media has had a mostly positive effect on them personally, while roughly a quarter (24%) say it has been positive for other people their age.

Still, the largest shares of teens say social media has had neither a positive nor negative effect on themselves (59%) or on other teens (45%). These patterns are consistent across demographic groups.

Teens are more likely to report positive than negative experiences in their social media use. Majorities of teens report experiencing each of the four positive experiences asked about: feeling more connected to what is going on in their friends’ lives (80%), like they have a place where they can show their creative side (71%), like they have people who can support them through tough times (67%), and that they are more accepted (58%).

When it comes to negative experiences, 38% of teens say that what they see on social media makes them feel overwhelmed because of all the drama. Roughly three-in-ten say it makes them feel like their friends are leaving them out of things (31%) or feel pressure to post content that will get lots of comments or likes (29%). And 23% say that what they see on social media makes them feel worse about their own life.

There are several gender differences in the experiences teens report having while on social media. Teen girls are more likely than teen boys to say that what they see on social media makes them feel a lot like they have a place to express their creativity or like they have people who can support them. However, girls also report encountering some of the pressures at higher rates than boys. Some 45% of girls say they feel overwhelmed because of all the drama on social media, compared with 32% of boys. Girls are also more likely than boys to say social media has made them feel like their friends are leaving them out of things (37% vs. 24%) or feel worse about their own life (28% vs. 18%).

When it comes to abuse on social media platforms, many teens think criminal charges or permanent bans would help a lot. Half of teens think criminal charges or permanent bans for users who bully or harass others on social media would help a lot to reduce harassment and bullying on these platforms.

About four-in-ten teens say it would help a lot if social media companies proactively deleted abusive posts or required social media users to use their real names and pictures. Three-in-ten teens say it would help a lot if school districts monitored students’ social media activity for bullying or harassment.

Some teens – especially older girls – avoid posting certain things on social media because of fear of embarrassment or other reasons. Roughly four-in-ten teens say they often or sometimes decide not to post something on social media because they worry people might use it to embarrass them (40%) or because it does not align with how they like to represent themselves on these platforms (38%). A third of teens say they avoid posting certain things out of concern for offending others by what they say, while 27% say they avoid posting things because it could hurt their chances when applying for schools or jobs.

These concerns are more prevalent among older teen girls. For example, roughly half of girls ages 15 to 17 say they often or sometimes decide not to post something on social media because they worry people might use it to embarrass them (50%) or because it doesn’t fit with how they’d like to represent themselves on these sites (51%), compared with smaller shares among younger girls and among boys overall.

Many teens do not feel like they are in the driver’s seat when it comes to controlling what information social media companies collect about them. Six-in-ten teens say they think they have little (40%) or no control (20%) over the personal information that social media companies collect about them. Another 26% aren’t sure how much control they have. Just 14% of teens think they have a lot of control.

Despite many feeling a lack of control, teens are largely unconcerned about companies collecting their information. Only 8% are extremely concerned about the amount of personal information that social media companies might have and 13% are very concerned. Still, 44% of teens say they have little or no concern about how much these companies might know about them.

Only around one-in-five teens think their parents are highly worried about their use of social media. Some 22% of teens think their parents are extremely or very worried about them using social media. But a larger share of teens (41%) think their parents are either not at all (16%) or a little worried (25%) about them using social media. About a quarter of teens (27%) fall more in the middle, saying they think their parents are somewhat worried.

Many teens also believe there is a disconnect between parental perceptions of social media and teens’ lived realities. Some 39% of teens say their experiences on social media are better than parents think, and 27% say their experiences are worse. A third of teens say parents’ views are about right.

Nearly half of parents with teens (46%) are highly worried that their child could be exposed to explicit content on social media. Parents of teens are more likely to be extremely or very concerned about this than about social media causing mental health issues like anxiety, depression or lower self-esteem. Some parents also fret about time management problems for their teen stemming from social media use, such as wasting time on these sites (42%) and being distracted from completing homework (38%).

Rays’ Brandon Lowe headed to injured list with oblique issue

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe is headed to the injured list due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain.

He got an MRI Wednesday morning in the Anaheim area that will be reviewed by the team medical staff, and manager Kevin Cash said Lowe will miss some time.

Lowe was removed from the April 3 home game against the Rangers with left-side tightness, but an MRI was clean and he returned to action Friday in Colorado, playing in all three games.

He wasn’t in the lineup Monday and Tuesday, as the Angels used lefty starters. He was taking swings to prepare for a potential pinch-hitting appearance Tuesday when he felt the discomfort on his right side.

“Pretty fluke,” Cash said. “You really feel for Brandon. It’s just unfortunate. I do feel bad for him that he worked really hard.”

That the MRI showed a low-grade strain — and a return potentially measured in weeks rather than months — provided only some consolation for the obviously frustrated Lowe.

“Probably the best case we could have asked for given the circumstances,” he said.

Lowe said he was taking swings in the cage when he realized “something didn’t feel right.” He told the athletic training staff, which relayed word to the dugout he wouldn’t be able to hit. Lowe said he had “no idea” how long he would be out and hadn’t yet processed his level of disappointment.

“It just happened (Tuesday) night, so it’s all still pretty new,” he said. “I’ve never done an oblique (injury) or side or whatever it is, so, yeah, it’s frustrating.”

Lowe, who missed time last season with back issues and a broken right kneecap, is the third key left-handed hitter to be sidelined by injury. He joins outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique strain) and infielder Jonathan Aranda (broken right ring finger), both of whom are expected out until early-to-mid May.

Candidates for promotion from Triple-A Durham include recently acquired Niko Goodrum, a switch-hitter, and Osleivis Basabe, a right-handed hitter who filled in last year.

Weekend pitching plans unsettled

With lefty Tyler Alexander on the bereavement list dealing with what the team said is a private matter, pitching plans for the weekend series against the Giants were still undecided on Wednesday.

Alexander was slated to pitch Friday (either starting or behind an opener) and initially was expected back. But Cash said team officials would spend Thursday’s off day “talking about all of our options.”

If Alexander (who can be on the list for three-seven days) isn’t back by Friday, the Rays could use long reliever Jacob Waguespack as part of a bullpen-day plan, having added Kevin Kelly to replace Alexander.

Another option could be to move up scheduled Saturday starter Ryan Pepiot, who pitched Sunday and would be on regular rest Friday. They could do the same with scheduled Sunday starter Zach Eflin on Saturday. But Friday starts a stretch of games on 13 consecutive days, so the Rays may prefer to keep the other starters on schedule for the extra rest since they won’t get it later.

Saudi Arabia's $500 billion Neom megacity is reportedly seeking new sources of cash

Saudi Arabia's Neom project is set to issue bonds for the first time as its developers seek new funding sources, Bloomberg reported .

The $500 billion desert megacity could raise up to $1.3 billion by selling Islamic bonds, or sukuk, the outlet reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.

The sukuk issuance may take place later this year, according to Bloomberg.

Neom is the centerpiece of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's Vision 2030 project, a diversification drive aiming to pivot Saudi Arabia's economy away from oil and into other sectors, including tech.

The country's sovereign wealth fund, PIF, has provided most of the funding for the massive project, although it's reportedly yet to approve Neom's budget for 2024 amid concerns about rising costs.

The realities of the scale and expense of Vision 2030 have started to cause alarm at the highest level of the Saudi government, Bloomberg reported earlier this month.

In February, The Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi Arabia had started borrowing to help fund Neom and other Vision 2030 "gigaprojects."

Tim Callen, a visiting fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute think tank in Washington, estimated that PIF would need to raise another $270 billion to fully realize its ambitions.

The best-known section of Neom is The Line — a city contained within twin 1,640-foot-high mirrored skyscrapers running parallel some 656 feet apart. According to Neom's website, it'll have no roads, cars, or emissions and run entirely on renewable energy.

Neom developers are also planning to build a "next-generation" sustainable port on the coast of the Red Sea, a ski and adventure resort, and a luxury island called Sindalha.

Neom did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, and declined to comment to Bloomberg.
