You Have Grown, And Just Like A Flower, You Will Bloom
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about growth. We all grow in so many ways, that we often don’t even acknowledge. You are doing things today, you once thought were impossible, no matter how big or how small. Maybe you always dreamed of getting your college degree, but the journey to accomplishing that goal was so difficult that it seemed unrealistic, but here you are gearing up to walk across the stage. Maybe you thought you would never be able to approach that person, or go to a certain store, or tackle a fear, and yet here you are, doing the very thing that scares you. For me, I never thought I would be sharing my story to help others, but here I am doing it, and feeling really proud of myself because of it.
A lot of times we forget to stop and pause and be thankful for our growth. We forget to do the necessary reflection so we can be proud of ourselves for the growth we have experienced. I think a lot of this is due to the fact that we go through our lives looking for instant gratification. We think about our dreams and how amazing they would be if they turned out to be exactly how we want them to be, but when we realize those dreams will take time to accomplish, we get discouraged and disheartened. We don’t congratulate ourselves for even having that idea, and we often don’t feel good about the small win we accomplished. While we might never fully get our instant gratification mindsets to go away, we can be realistic with ourselves about our goals and we can congratulate our growth. When we can do that, we can be grateful for the journey, even if it is slow. I am grateful for my growth in learning to love my body after struggling for years with disordered eating, but I will admit it can be frustrating to want to love my body all the time but still have really bad body image days. I want that instant gratification of reaching my goal of saying – “Yes! I am recovered, my body is amazing and I will never think otherwise”. I am not sure I will ever get to that point, but on my journey of striving for that goal, I can pause and be grateful that I now have more good days than bad days, and that I can point out things I love about my body more times than not. That is growth. No matter how slow the growth is, there is growth, and the growth is beautiful. I am sure you have a similar experience. So instead of getting frustrated with yourself for falling short or not reaching your goal as quickly as you wanted to, stop and pause and be proud of yourself for doing more than you were doing yesterday. Be thankful for the growth you have made with every step.
Even when we fall down and we go back a few steps, we already have such a strong foundation under us that will allow us to keep moving forward in the direction of our goals, with gratitude of ourselves at the forefront of our minds.
All of your experiences to this date, have allowed you to grow into the very person you are today. We all still have a long way to go, and we will never be perfect, which is not the goal anyway, but we are stronger today in this moment than we ever have been before. Even if in this moment, we feel weak or we feel discouraged, we have done so much up until this point, and we have everything within us already to get through this difficult time. You have grown, and just like a flower you will bloom. You will use your experiences of the past, no matter how sad, traumatic, or hurtful they might have been, to propel you forward. It can be so helpful to pause in your pursuit of happiness, success, or love, and just be grateful that you are who you are, and that you have been where you have been. Because without those experiences, you wouldn’t be here today, strong in your foundation, ready to take the world by storm, knowing that no matter how long the journey is to your goal, your strength will grow, and that growth, is just simply beautiful.

If I Were A Flower (Essay Sample)
If i were a flower.
A flower signifies a lot in nature. It is associated with life and beauty. A rose flower, for instance, is not only beautiful and attractive hence irresistible but it also has a fragrance that spreads to every part where the flower grows. If I were a flower, my life would be complete as described in this paper.
If I were a flower, I would definitely pat myself on the back every single day, knowing that I’m one of the most beautiful, valued plants on the earth. I would wake up each day jumping up and down with excitement, awaiting the next person eager to come and see or pick me. As people come to see me every day, I would let out my emotion flow freely, and although man lacks the ability to recognize the emotion of a flower, I could be excited each day of my life, recognizing the fact that my beauty attracts many, including envious flower neighbors. As humans come to touch and praise me, I would take their praise for a mirror reflection, as I will not have the ability to see myself. When one says, “This flower is so beautiful,” I would thank them sincerely despite human inability to hear the voices of plants.
The need to associate with trees, other flower varieties plus various species of plants would cause me to find a way of communicating with them. I would greet my neighbors every day, and chat away with them, notifying them of the extent to which beauty makes all plants worthwhile and how plants are a key part of the human life. Educating my neighbors regarding the need to care for ourselves, as well as our role as plants in the completion of the ecosystem will take preeminence over all else.
Being a flower, I would not be jealous when humans choose to see other flowers. As beauty is a fully packaged commodity in itself, worry and fear of domination by other flowers could be the last thing on my mind! Knowing that I am naturally beautiful, no need for jealousy could possibly exist within me. To beautify myself even more, I could utilize day and night effectively. During the day time, I would stand above all other flowers then make myself noticed by everyone. During the night, I could give the most fragrance to attract onlookers and passerby.
Someone might pick me then offer me to his lover as a gift. As the lover rejoices while her face beams with smiles, satisfaction along with assurance of love, I would delight too with them both and gratitude could fill me knowing that my greatest role and desire (love) is fulfilled. At times, I would also be picked on special, sunny days then presented in church on key occasions. This could amount to spiritual nourishment in addition to fulfillment of my other purpose and desire: soul nourishment. At other times, I could be picked on such special occasions as weddings and graduations. When being transported towards the ceremony, I would be excited to see the attendants as well as complement the occasion. This could add to my pleasure.
Recognizing how short my life is, I would live each day like a queen, hoping that whoever picks me uses me appreciates my beauty, value, as well as role in nature hence use me for noble causes. A flower is a valuable plant. It is different from all other plants and any day as a flower would fill me with joy, elevate my wellbeing, and give me a chance to complement the various aspects of nature’s ecosystem.
Life Lessons Taught by Flowers
Legendary American artist Georgia O’Keeffe once said, “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment.” Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. In that way, their life lessons are many. Neither us nor them can blossom without love and sunshine.
Flowers always attract us towards their beauty and nature. Flowers give us happiness and delight even if they are covered with sharp thorns. They impart a feeling of freshness and soften our hearts when we are sad and fatigued. They purify our surroundings and uplift our life when we are feeling blue. Life is flower of which love is the honey.
We always feel empowered by their energy and have forever remained awe-inspired by their beautiful, colorful hues. The curves of the petals and the perfect lines harmoniously inspire us to cultivate beauty in our life and our surroundings. To witness a flower blossoming, petal by petal, is a real wonder no artist or scientist can replicate.
Life is a flower, spreading happiness wherever one finds it!
Though fragile and delicate, flowers always manage to find a precious place in our hearts. Their gentle, pervading perfume leaves its influence on our everyday life. Flowers make us happy! The best thing in the world is to give happiness to other people.
When we are the reason for a smile on another’s face, we feel fulfilled.
To be a source of joy to others you have to first find happiness in your own heart, only then you can truly spread joy around you.
Treat everyone equally and with kindness!
A flower has many qualities we can learn from. It is frank, equal, generous and kind. Flowers bloom in all kinds of natural surroundings. A flower has an open life; it shares its beauty with everyone. It neither knows nor cares what caste or creed stands for, nor does it acknowledge the difference between rich and poor.
The beauty a flower holds is never hidden so that everyone can experience it, see it, feel it, relate to it and most importantly share it. It treats everyone equally and has no preferences. Everyone can enjoy its beauty and fragrance without any discrimination.
Love unconditionally!
Flowers are affectionate; they are sweet, so close to us and so loving. Their presence fills us with delight. If we have to wish or congratulate someone, the very first idea of a gift which pops up in our mind is a bunch of flowers. They make one of the best gifts we can give.
Moreover, we feel loved when someone gives us flowers as well. Life is a flower that never stops blooming and the significance of flower gifts are personal expressions of our feelings for each other. Flowers bring about positive changes in people’s moods.
If you’ve ever had a time in your life when you loved someone unconditionally, you surely felt excited and freed, not drained and weighed down. Why not practice unconditional love every single day, just like a flower does!
Despite the circumstances, a flower still blooms!
Flowers have been found to bloom through little cracks in the rocks on high mountains. Flowers are found growing through slight clefts in the buildings.
Yes, positive environment and proper nurturing accelerates the growth of the flowers, but the lack of it doesn’t stop the flowers from growing altogether. Life is a flower and neither can blossom without love and sunshine,
A Lotus blooms in dirty water but it is one of the purest flowers of all. So no matter how many ups and downs there are in life, be like a flower blooming to the maximum, spreading happiness and living life fully.
The Buddha once said, “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” ( Tweet this )
Conclusion – Life is a Flower
Flowers are the happiest things that we come across. Fragrances of flowers always spread in the direction of wind. So always count your garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Life is a flower, both of them exhibit the same qualities from which we can learn.

Live Like a Flower: Life Lessons
"Just like women, flowers come in every shape and color, flourish in bunches and with love and care, they transform from buds to blossoms."
The Society of American Florists
There are many life lessons we can gather from beautiful, resilient flowers as they grow from seedling to stem. " Live Like a Flower " is a series of pieces of advice from well-known experts in life and happiness compiled by The Society of American Florists and Aboutflowers.com.
Through the easy-to-follow advice of authors, speakers, designers and more, we can learn to bloom like a flower and live life to its fullest and most rewarding.
Live Colorfully – Dare to Be Different : Kelli Ellis, author, design psychologist and TV personality, shares advice on showing the world how you are unique, beautiful and the source of a smile.
Shake it up. Do something unpredictable.
Make it simple . Keep the people that make your life better on speed dial.
Good morning sunshine. Start and end your day in a color that makes your heart smile, one that creates a key to your haven.
Ignore your “normal.” To brighten your day, get bold.
Make a statement. Share the things you love with the world.
Spread Smiles. Show your thoughtful and creative side by giving your work mates flowers that you think represents them. Productivity, innovation and creative problem solving improve when flowers and plants are in the workplace.
Soak Up the Sun : MJ Ryan, New York Times best-selling author and expert on human fulfillment, shows how just like flowers need sunlight, people need happy thoughts and moments to grow.
Uplift with orange. Color therapists say colors really do affect our moods. It promotes optimism, enthusiasm, and a sense of uplift.
Music is a very powerful happiness creator. Choose songs that make you feel good, whether that’s through inspiring lyrics or the rhythm. Singing has been shown to be a great way to lift your spirits, lower blood pressure, and decrease depression.
Follow the happiness path. Research has shown that there are two routes to happiness. One is doing something that you feel is personally meaningful, such as volunteering in your community or seeing a friend through a tough time. The other is indulging in simple pleasures, such as relishing in the feel of your dog’s fur, taking a luxurious hot bath, or treating yourself to flowers or a blooming plant.
Do one little thing that’s been nagging you.
Spread happiness to others. Acts of kindness benefit both the receiver and the giver.
Grow Roots : Vanessa Diffenbaugh, best-selling author of The Language of Flowers , offers advice on growing deeper roots in your community.
Ask people to tell their stories. Everyone has a story, full of both heartbreak and triumph. Asking people to share allows you to find common ground even when all you see — externally — are differences.
Be real. Being truthful about both sides of your story will help you form more honest connections with those you love and admire.
Embrace your elders. Show love and respect to your grandparents and aging neighbors.
Make yourself useful. Everyone has something to give, no matter how much (or little) time you have.
Do what you love to do. Figure out what you love to do, and then go do it!
Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to ask humbly, genuinely, for help when you need it. Say thank you with flowers, a plant, or another heartfelt expression of gratitude.
Open Up : Christine Arylo, author, women’s advocate and TEDx speaker, provides thoughts on making the right choices for you and others.
Know what makes your heart happy and do that.
Follow your inner wisdom, not conventional wisdom. Living an authentic life means living life by what feel is right to you, even if it differs from the norm. Be willing to listen to your inner wisdom—that intuitive, gut feeling—even if it is contrary to rational thought.
Stay true to yourself, even if that means disappointing another. Be a best friend to yourself by taking actions that are best for you.
Be willing to make a mistake, but don’t beat yourself up about it. Give yourself some love by saying the same words you would tell a best friend in this situation, “You are doing the best that you can, and it’s enough.” Then do something loving for yourself, an action that you would only usually take for someone else to cheer them up, like sending yourself flowers.
Be a feeling sharer not a feeling stuffer. If it is hard for you to express your feelings, bring in help to open your heart and let the feelings out.
Live Beautifully : Vicki Norris, author and life management expert, offers advice for living a prioritized life in a harried and distracted world.
Rethink order and beauty. Embrace order as a gateway to beauty. Train your mind that organizing your life and belongings is not a chore; it’s an investment in a lovely life.
Repurpose old things to new life. Bringing yesteryear into today provides comfort through nostalgia and conveys simpler times in today’s busy world.
Re-envision your space. Arrange your home or workplace around centers of activity and community (instead of by sterile rooms).
Rehab your mind. Change in our natural environment or habits begins with a change of thinking. Make a list of the beautiful, lovely, praiseworthy things you can think about and post it near your sink. What we think about, we become.
Rejuvenate your senses. Take a break from the busyness of life and treat yourself to a visit to a relaxing spa, botanical garden, lavender field, or local flower shop. Surrounding yourself with the sounds, scents, and beauty of nature invites us to engage our senses, slow down, breathe and experience peace.
Refuse to dichotomize. Trade up from balance to integration . A completely balanced life is impossible and requires constant reallocation of time. An integrated life is one where we intentionally break down separations and blend our personal, professional, spiritual, and emotional lives together. An integrated life is a beautiful display of peace in an out-of-control world.
Pollinate : Jayme Barrett, author and expert on increasing energy and balance teaches us how to transmit positive energy and inspire optimism, kindness and love.
Radiate joy & happiness. Start every day in a good mood, and let your happiness uplift others.
Celebrate & acknowledge people. Make an effort to praise and compliment friends, family and co-workers.
Share your creative spark & business smarts. Brainstorm fresh ideas, offer to make an introduction, read a proposal or send them your resources. It doesn’t need to take a lot of your time but it can help launch them towards the realization of their dreams.
Listen with undivided attention. Giving someone your complete attention is a gift.
Pay it forward. A magical way of spreading positive energy is to do something unexpected for a stranger.
Give your love freely. Love is the nectar of life.
Grow New Buds : Christine Arylo shares easy advice for becoming your own best friends and building stronger relationships with others.
Grow little buds into blooming buds. Choose friends past or present who have the potential to grow deeper and stronger, and to make your life better.
Be honest about who you want in your friend bouquet. Be intentional with whom you want to surround yourself. Make a list of these buds (call it your friendship manifesto)—who they are, what they like to do, and how you feel when you are around them. Place the manifesto somewhere sacred (perhaps under a flowering plant to signify blooming friendships) and every so often take it out and read it, and keep your eyes out for new friends!
Be inspired by others, not envious. If sunflowers spent all their time trying to be roses, they would be very unhappy sunflowers. Next time you find yourself comparing yourself to someone else, find what inspires you about that person, and tell them so! Watch how their heart opens because you’ve showered them with appreciation instead of judgment or envy, and you might just find a new friend.
Look for new buds that feel like you. There is a universal relationship law that says like attracts like, which means people are attracted to energy on the outside that matches the energy on the inside. Think about what qualities you have to share with others and embrace this as part of your essence, so that your new buds will have an easier time finding you, and you them.
Plant seeds in new fields. Put yourself out there to new people in new circles instead of just hanging out with the same people. If your new friends were flowers, what kind would they be?
Be Grateful for Rain : Vicki Norris helps you be prepared for anything, nimbly and gracefully, no matter what life throws at you.
Receive the rain. Look at life’s circumstances–not as inconveniences or intrusions–but as enrichment to your soil. Even the tough stuff can bring growth, and even beauty, to your life. Determine to always become better, not bitter.
Refine your transitions. Make your transitions stress-free: give attention to your going-and-coming spaces.
Reconsider your remnants. Pause to enjoy (and even photograph) the overlooked, dirty, or disruptive things, instead of perceiving a nuisance. Remember that these are actually evidence of what we DO have – the beautiful blessings of today.
Refuse the daily grind. Infuse your busy life with little pleasures that invite you to breathe in the sweet joys that no circumstance can steal.
Reclaim your priorities. Prioritize your life around that which matters most. Resolve to live with no regrets by putting first the relationships and moments that count.

How is life like a flower? Life is brief. It is here one day and gone the next. Sometimes life ends unexpectedly just as a flower that is burned up by the sun and dies before having lived an entire season. Life is like a flower. We must care for our life as we must care for our flowers.
She told me that love is like a flower. Flowers are beautiful, bring joy, and can instantly brighten up your day, but they are also delicate. They need water to grow, nourishment from the soil to flourish, and light from the sun to thrive.
Flowers, the magnificent creations of nature, play a pivotal role in our ecosystem and human life. They are not just a source of beauty and aesthetic pleasure, but also serve as key elements in pollination, a process vital for the survival of many plant species.
Life is like a flower, it grows into something beautiful… I, too, believe that both life and flowers grow into something beautiful. It takes effort, though, nurturing and giving loving care both to yourself and your flowers.
