Important Notes:

As a management student looking to get good grades, it is essential to develop new ideas and experiment with existing management theories – i.e., to add value and interest to your research topic.

The management field is vast and interrelated to many other academic disciplines like operations management , business , business administration , MBA , human resource management and more. That is why creating a management dissertation topic that is particular, sound, and actually solves a practical problem that may be rampant in the field is imperative.

We can’t stress how important it is to develop a logical research topic based on your entire research. There are several significant downfalls to getting your topic wrong; your supervisor may not be interested in working on it, the topic has no academic creditability, the research may not make logical sense, there is a possibility that the study is not viable.

This impacts your time and efforts in writing your dissertation , as you may end up in the cycle of rejection at the initial stage of the dissertation. That is why we recommend reviewing existing research to develop a topic, taking advice from your supervisor, and even asking for help in this particular stage of your dissertation.

Keeping our advice in mind while developing a research topic will allow you to pick one of the best management dissertation topics that fulfil your requirement of writing a research paper and adds to the body of knowledge.

Therefore, it is recommended that when finalizing your dissertation topic, you read recently published literature to identify gaps in the research that you may help fill.

Remember- dissertation topics need to be unique, solve an identified problem, be logical, and be practically implemented. Please look at some of our sample management dissertation topics to get an idea for your own dissertation.

The Levels of Operations Management Implementation

The management of the operations is primarily done at the following three levels –

  • Strategic Level: Work on the broader terms, where the goals of the company are defined, and the operations managers are assigned the task to develop the strategies accordingly. For example, if we try to define all the three levels with respect to an organization engaged in furniture business, then the strategic level of operations management would include the preparation of blueprint for the location and the layout of the furniture factory.
  • Tactical Level:  The tactics are used by the employees at the managerial level to accomplish those strategies step by step. These include the tasks or the steps that are defined to successfully implement the strategies. The tactical level shall incorporate the hiring and training of the workforce to function as per the strategic needs and set the roadmap of executing the third level.
  • Operations Level: The final level where all the components of production are brought together and materialised. These include the purchase of wood and fabric, the availability of raw materials and cutting tools and all the other fabrication equipment. It is widely regarded and practised as the final level of operations management before the final product or service gets its final shape.

The students who frequently reach us for dissertation help are assigned with the operations management homework somehow revolving around these three levels only. Daniel kwasnitschka successfully defends his doctoral thesis.

Congratulations! Daniel Kwasnitschka defended his dissertation “A Behavioral Perspective on Manufacturing Digitalization” on May 7th

  • mode_comment Number of comments

What are the behavioral effects of new digital technologies in manufacturing? In his doctoral dissertation, Daniel investigates how new digital technologies impact the behavior of workers and managers in manufacturing organizations, and explores ways to modify both technology and behavior to enhance performance outcomes in digitalized manufacturing operations. To achieve this, the dissertation examines a unique case of a fully digitalized production system: a company that addresses information asymmetries on the production floor with innovative smartwatch technology. This technology provides real-time machine updates, collects behavioral data from workers, and shares this data across the organization. By leveraging this new technology, the company has transformed task allocation, reorganized production processes, and shifted management focus towards data-driven decision-making based on behavioral insights from workers.

Daniel’s work specifically focuses on the behavioral challenges of the company during and after implementing the new smartwatch technology. Overall, his dissertation contributes to the emerging behavioral discussion on new digital technology in manufacturing. The findings offer theoretical and practical insights into the delicate interplay between humans and digital technology.

Daniel

We congratulate Daniel on this achievement and wish him the best of luck for his future.

Chef James Jorgen wins Continental Title in NACUFS 2024 Culinary Challenge

The University of Utah’s Dining Services staff has once again made their mark at the annual National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) Regional Cooking Competition. This competition allows chefs from various colleges to showcase their skills in a live setting, incorporating a mandatory protein into their dishes. This year, Chef James Jorgen claimed the title of Continental regional winner at the NACUFS 2024 Culinary Challenge Competitions held in Tacoma, Washington. Chef Jorgen’s victory in Tacoma secures his spot in the national level competition, scheduled to take place from July 17-20 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chef Jorgen serves as a sous chef at the U, where he oversees culinary operations at the Peterson Heritage Center Dining Hall. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Chef Jorgen began his culinary journey in hotels. Chef Peter Hodgson and Chef Ken Ohlinger assisted his preparation leading up to the competition. The winning dish featured a pan-seared branzino, ratatouille-stuffed eggplant with saffron bulgur wheat, gambas al ajillo, Jerusalem artichoke purée, and Provençal compote.

Reflecting on his win, Chef Jorgen shared that he has found his passion in expressing himself through high-quality food. To him, “Food creates memories. Customers may not remember a particular dish, but they will remember how it made them feel.”

We look forward to seeing the results from the national cooking competition in July.

Congratulations, Chef Jorgen!

PROGRAM OPERATIONS MANUAL SYSTEM Part DI – Disability Insurance Chapter 395 – DDS Fiscal and Administrative Management Subchapter 06 – DDS Financial Management Transmittal No. 46, 05/14/2024

ODD-DDS: ADM;

Originating Component

Effective Date

ODD is updating this POMS section to reflect the current MOR business process.

Summary of Changes

DI 39506.260 Monthly Obligations Report and Forecast

Introduced language to notate that the MOR is now filled out through the eMOR website.

We are removing bullets in Subsection A.2.

We have updated to incorporate SSA's plain language standards.

DI 39506.260 Monthly Obligations Report and Responsibilities

A.  policy - disability determinations services (dds) responsibility.

The DDS provides the regional office (RO) with a Monthly Obligation Report (MOR) of actual and projected obligations for the cost categories reported on the quarterly State Agency Report of Obligation for SSA Disability Programs, SSA-4513. Categories include personnel costs, medical costs, indirect costs, and all other costs. The State categorizes and submits costs as required by SSA. See DI 29506.210 for a description of each reporting category.

The DDS reports actual obligations for the most recent month ending and projected obligations for the two subsequent months. See DI 39506.200 for recording and reporting obligations. As part of the end of year budget scrub activities, the RO will notify the DDS to include three or more months of projected obligations.

The DDS completes and submits their MOR and associated narrative via the elctronic MOR website, eMOR, and notifies the RO of the submission. The RO establishes the due date for the DDS to submit the MOR.

Narrative Explanation

A written narrative associated with each MOR submission is required. The DDS should include an explanation for variance between projected and actual obligations and/or for costs not previously identified.

The Monthly Obligation Report Analysis Tool (MORAT) shows the difference between the projected and actual obligations for each month. Narrative explanations must be provided for each cost category that exceeds the MOR variance percentage threshold established by the RO.

The narrative must provide explanations for new obligational needs in the current fiscal year that was not previously submitted to the RO for review. Submitting new obligational needs in the MOR without prior SSA approval does not constitute as an approval. The DDS should notify the RO of new cost items or obligational needs via email for review and approval.

B.  Policy - Regional Office Responsibility

Upon review of the DDS's MOR submission, the RO will either approve or return the MOR to the DDS for corrections and/or further justifications.

Once approved, the RO electronically submits the MORs to the Office of Disability Determinations (ODD) via the eMOR website and notifies ODD of the regional submission.

The MOR is due to ODD on the 25th of each succeeding month.
