Detailed Plot

As soon as Jayesh, an expat, lands at the airport, a group of law enforcement agents pick him up. He is taken to a remote facility where he will be questioned over a murder that has gone unsolved for years. The criminal branch has a very small window to persuade Jayesh to tell the truth because they don’t have a valid warrant, and what we see in Naalam Mura are their strategies to get Jayesh to confess. Is Jayesh responsible for the crime, or are the police attempting to blame him?

Artistes’ Performances

Naalam Mura, directed by Deepu Anthikad, has Biju Menon and Guru Somasundaram onscreen together for the first time. A character that doesn’t seem difficult at all is sleepwalked through by Biju Menon. Guru Somasundaram doesn’t fit the part of the character. Being sympathetic to Guru’s persona is also made difficult by the Malayalam he speaks in the film. The story’s inclusion of Divya Pillai’s character is forgettable. This film has a number of actors, including Alencier, Alexander Prashanth, Santhipriya, Sheelu Abraham, etc. who doesn’t make any impact.

Direction / Technical Side

Director Deepu Anthikkad is the captain behind the camera for Naalam Mura. Sooraj V. Dev wrote the movie’s screenplay. The movie is sleep-inducing because it adheres to a narrative framework that the audience has grown accustomed to watching. It is poorly scripted because neither the setup nor the conclusion are interesting enough. The film’s weak narrative extends clichéd sequences to their breaking point, which is the biggest issue with the picture. Many of the subplots in a movie are absolutely pointless distractions, and you find yourself continuously questioning the necessity of certain buildups.

In terms of the technical aspect, Shameer Muhammad is in charge of the editing for Naalam Mura, while S Loganathan is the director of photography. The songs were written by Kailas Menon, and the background music was written by Gopi Sundar. But the dull script prevents any of the material from being highlighted.

Verdict; In Naalaam Mura, there is no emotional connection. The movie frequently disappoints us by delivering unoriginal clichés when we keep anticipating something remarkable to occur. You constantly wonder why certain buildups are necessary, and many movie subplots are utterly meaningless diversionary devices. With two outstanding performers, it was undoubtedly a missed opportunity. ⭐ ⭐ Rating: 2 out of 5.

ഇതിലിപ്പൊ mind game എവിടെ?? Also, that final reveal was lame, even without considering all that build-up. The one good thing about this meek thriller is that it’s only 1 hour 42 minutes long. So, I’d say, give this a try if you have some 90 minutes’ free time and nothing else to watch or do.

A very interesting premise. Could have easily ace the movie with good direction. Man direction was super bad. With uncanny song placement and other things , nalaam mura is just another average thriller.

I had an idea of how this movie will be after the trailer watch, and I wasn't wrong about it, it is that usual cliche mystery movie made in a low budget set up, with minimal making efforts as well. But this movie really got me after half an hour in. Things were made clear and obvious but still questionable. Then came the last climax which was trash 🗑️. Seriously the portrayal of movie aspirants as drug addicts and alcoholics is a usual trend that has been followed in the film industry long back and had stopped but here is it again. There are tons of stereotypical things similar to this shown here. Coming to the performances, the only person who did perfectly well was Biju Menon. Others just did nothing, they felt dead inside even Guru Somasundaram. Overall a cliche thriller that fell apart on many grounds.

Director Deepu Anthikad’s comeback film, a decade since Jayaram’s Lucky Star, is all set to hit theatres during the Christmas season. The movie titled Naalaam Mura has Biju Menon and Guru Somasundaram in the lead roles along with a bunch of stellar cast including Divya Pillai and Alencier Ley Lopez in pivotal roles.

In an earlier interview with OTTPlay, Deepu had told us that Biju essays the role of a cop in the movie, which will be a suspense drama. Guru essays the other central character, who will have equal screen prominence and space as Biju in the film, he had remarked.

“There are plot devices in place so that the viewers can’t really figure out who is the hero and who is the villain in this till the end,” said Deepu, who had co-scripted the moviw with Sooraj V Dev. The movie will also have several emotional elements that he said he hopes will make the audience relate better with both the characters and their intentions as the plot progresses.

Though it’s a dual hero film, Deepu had clarified that the cat-and-mouse game in the film is more cerebral in nature. Biju’s character of a crime branch officer isn’t shown as a brilliant man but someone who uses the clues at hand to solve the case.

Incidentally, Naalaam Mura is also based on true incidents. The film’s co-scriptwriter Sooraj, who had worked as part of several crime branch cases, was able to bring in an authentic approach of how cops about solving the cases, said the filmmaker.

The movie, which is set to hit theatres on December 23, was shot in locations such as Kuttikanam and Peermade earlier this year. It also has Surabhi Santosh, Sheelu Abraham and Prashanth Alexander in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Biju Menon, who was last seen in Oru Thekkan Thallu Case that is streaming on Netflix, is next awaiting the release of Thankam, which has him sharing screen space with Vineeth Sreenivasan.

'Naalaam Mura' featuring Biju Menon and 'Minnal Murali' fame Guru Somasundaram in lead roles, is all set to start streaming on a major OTT platform.

The film, which is directed by Deepu Anthikkad, is a crime investigation thriller that is 190 minutes long. An expatriate Jayesh is taken into police custody soon after he lands at the airport. He is the prime suspect in a murder that took place several years ago. During police custody, the cops employ several tactics to make him reveal the truth. Is Jayesh the murderer? How does the police finally end up resolving the case? The story revolves around these aspects.

The film features Divya Pillai, Alencier, Alexander Prashanth, Santhipriya, Sheelu Abraham in lead roles. The movie hit theaters on December 23 and is Deepu Anthikkad's latest outing after 'Litmus' and 'Lucky Star'.

The cast and crew of 'Mura'

The shooting for the film 'Mura', directed by Muhammad Musthafa, has reached its completion against the scenic backdrop of the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. Over the course of fifty-seven days, the filming journey traversed through various locations including Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, Tenkasi, and Bengaluru.

Production of the film is undertaken by Rhea Shibu, under the banner of HR Pictures, a prominent production and distribution company in Kerala cinema. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring acclaimed actors such as Suraj Venjaramood, Hridhu Haroon, Maala Parvathy, Kani Kusruthi, Kannan Nair, Jobin Das, Anujith Kannan, Yedhu Krishna, Vigneshwar Suresh, Krish Hassan, and Sibi Joseph, portraying pivotal roles. Suresh Babu, renowned for his work in the popular series 'Uppum Muluk', has written the movie.
