General Instructions for submitting Online Application

• You need to register first, before filling of the online entrance application form.
• Click on the button  NEW REGISTRTION that appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.
• Fill in the UserName and password in the appropriate columns correctly.
• Remember, while choosing your  UserName it must be in between 8 to 16 characters.
• While choosing your  password  it must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.
• After filling the mandatory information click the "SUBMIT" button.
• Your username will be instantly sent to you via e-mail and SMS.
• Remember your Username and Password for subsequent login.
• If you have already registered i.e you are an existing user click the "LOGIN" button.
• Scanned passport size Photograph (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB)
• Credit Card (Master/Visa)
• Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
• Net Banking
• Note: It is suggested to scan documents from your originals. Once you have uploaded the document, click the next button you will get the further information related to online application which you need to fill up.
• After the final submission of online application form, download the filled in application form, take the printout and enclose the hardcopies/photocopies of all the documents and certificates as mentioned in the student handbook and prospectus to be submitted during counseling for final admission.

Instructions pertaining to Reservation of Seats, Fees and Exam pattern for PhD Entrance Test – 2022

•  The number of seats to be advertised in different categories (GEN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) is as per the Reservation Policy for Research Degree Programmes and DOPT,Govt of India .norms amended from time to time.  Appendix II of the Information Brochure  may be referred in this regard.  
• Five percent (5%) seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). However such candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong  (Ref.Annexure II of Information Brochure 2022).
• Submission of application forms will be online only.  Entrance Examination is compulsory for all candidates including MPhil / NET / JRF etc., for admission to Research Degree Programmes. No exemption from appearing for the Entrance Test is permissible.
• Application Fee for  submission of online application is  Rs 1000.  
•    Application fee is  non-refundable.
•    No request for   change in category,   shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.
• Applicants are advised to submit onle application only, as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
• Eligibility for appearing in the Entrance Test  is subject to the candidate fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed in the IGNOU Regulations  for conduct of Research Programmes which is as under: 

A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, provided he/she:

   ....... Possesses Master’s Degree  from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University with at least  55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer), EWS and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time. *

* Note : Applicants are requested to carefully go through the eligibility criteria as per the details mentioned at Annexure –II and make sure that they fulfill the same. If any discrepancy is found at a later stage, the University reserves all the rights to not consider such cases.

8.  In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

9.  Weightage of Entrance Test is 70% and 30% weightage is for the Interview.

10. 50% is the qualifying marks  in the Entrance Test for  Open Category.  For  SC/ST/OBC, EWS /PWD, the qualifying mark is  45% .

11. Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.

  Syllabus and Question paper

• a)   The syllabus of the Entrance Test is as per the ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of MPhil / PhD Degrees) Regulations, 2022  comprising 50% on Research methodology and 50% on specific subject.
• b)   The question paper shall have  questions consisting of  50% on research methodology and 50% on specific subject .

IGNOU PhD Entrance Result 2022 (OUT) : Finally, the Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam Results 2021-22 have been declared. The NTA (National Testing Agency) has officially announced the IGNOU PhD Entrance Test 2022 Results for all the candidates who appeared for the examination. The PhD Entrance Test was held on 24th February at 30 cities across the country to screen candidates for PhD Admissions at IGNOU. • Step 1: Log onto the exam portal – ignou.nta.ac.in
• Step 2: Scroll Down to the bottom to find 'IGNOU PhD Score Card 2021-22.' Link
• Step 3: On clicking on the link, you will be redirected to a new page with input fields
• Step 4: Enter your Exam Application Number and Password along with Security Pin displayed on the screen
• Step 5: Verify all the details and submit them on the website
• Step 6: Your IGNOU PhD Entrance Test 2022 result scorecard will be displayed on the screen
• Step 7: Download the scorecard and take the printout for the future reference

Instructions pertaining to Reservation of Seats, Fees, general eligibility criteria and Exam pattern for PhD Entrance Test – 2023

• Submission of application for PhD Programme will be online only. The candidate can only apply for one Programme as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
• Application Fee for  submission of online application is  Rs 1000.  
• Application fee is  non-refundable.
• The number of seats to be advertised in different categories (GEN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) is as per the Reservation Policy for Research Degree Programmes and DOPT,Govt of India .norms amended from time to time.  Appendix II of the Information Brochure  may be referred in this regard. 
• No request for   change in reservation category,   shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.
• Five percent (5%) seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). However such candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong (Ref.Annexure II of Information Brochure 2023).
• Candidates awarded with fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests, as per the validity specified by the regulatory bodies, shall be exempted from Entrance Test and their selection will be based on interview. These candidates shall be considered as Category- A. Such candidates have to upload their valid fellowship award letter from the concerned implementing / awarding agency.
• For Category A Candidates , interview shall carry 100% weightage. All eligible candidates from Category A will be called for the interview.
• For Category B Candidates , the Entrance Test shall carry a weightage of 70% and 30% weightage shall be given to the interview. Those who secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layers) / Differently abled persons and EWS) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit subject to the maximum limit of five times of the available seats.

Stage II: Interview:

• Eligible candidates from Category A & Category B shall be called for interview before the Discipline Specific Admission committee. Information in this regard shall be uploaded on the University website. The respective disciplines/ schools will communicate regarding the requirement for the interview.
• The interview shall have three components comprising Research Methodology (40%) Subject domain (40%) and Communication Skills (20%).
• Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.
• A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, on the fulfillment of the following conditions :
• Candidates who have completed:
• A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision as per the decision of the UGC from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2021: The Indira Gandhi National Open University has released the Ph.D. entrance exam result. The result has been released for the July 2021 session. Registered candidates who took the exam can check the result now. It has been released on the IGNOU website ignou.ac.in. The Ph.D. entrance exam result has been announced for the Political Science, Translation Studies, Vocational Education and Training, Law, Tourism and Hospitality Service Management, Hindi, Urdu, Interdisciplinary and Trans- Disciplinary Studies, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Life Science, Mathematics, and Geology. The selected candidates are now eligible to take admission for various research degree programmes in the July academic session. For details on IGNOU PhD admission, candidates can go to the official website- ignou.ac.in.

The selected candidates will get offer letters via mail or by post. The result has been released for the exam which was conducted on February 24, 2022. The entrance exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency.

IGNOU July Admissions 2022: July session registration begins

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the registration for various undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. The registration is going on for the July 2022 session. Candidates who want to take part in IGNOU July admissions can register themselves now. The registration link has been activated on the official website ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Candidates can apply by following the steps mentioned here .

Candidates must know that the last date to register for the IGNOU July 2022 session is July 31, 2022. “The July 2022 Fresh-Admission cycle has commenced from today (30/05/2022). Last date of Fresh-Admissions for the July 2022 Session is 31st July 2022,” the IGNOU said in a tweet.

IGNOU PhD Interview Schedule 2024 – IGNOU University holds interviews every year for the selection of candidates for Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) Programmes. Candidates may take admission to any of the IGNOU PhD Courses offered by the University. To get Admission to PhD, candidates have to appear in the entrance exam conducted by IGNOU and then they will be selected through an Interview which will be held at the main campus of the university.

If candidates have an M.Phil degree or cleared JEST of DAE or UGC-NET or GATE of IIT or if they have a minimum 5-year working experience in Teaching/Practical/Industry/Professional then those candidates will be exempted from appearing in the entrance exam and they will directly call for an interview. If you haven’t any experience then you have to pass an entrance exam and then you will call for an interview for selection.

Required Documents for IGNOU PhD Interview 2024

• SSC certificate for date of birth.
• Graduation and Post Graduation Mark sheets and Certificates.
• Exemption proof in case of A1 category applicants with the validity period of NET/JRF/GATE.
• Caste certificate, if required.
• PH Certificate, if required.
• Course Completion Certificate along with Mark sheets (55% marks in course work is compulsory) in case of students who have already completed MPhil.

IGNOU Phd Interview Dates 2024

IGNOU has already conducted the IGNOU PhD Entrance Examination for July 2023 and the result for the same has also been declared by the university online. Furthermore, the university has started to release the IGNOU PhD Interview list for various disciplines from 13th March 2024. The students from respective disciplines should check the PhD Interview list regularly to know their interview dates.
