To apply for this program, please complete the George Mason University Admissions Application. Eligibility. Students interested in applying for admission should have a bachelor's degree in computational science, any natural science, mathematics, engineering, or computer science with a minimum GPA of 3.00 in their last 60 credits of study.
Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (PhD)
Completion of coursework, the comprehensive exam, and a successful dissertation proposal results in advancement to candidacy status. In the next phase, students conduct research guided by a faculty member. The program is concluded with the defense of PhD dissertation. The program is structured to be accessible for full- and part-time students.

Full-time. 6 - 8. Three-quarter time. 4.5 - 5.5. Half-time. 4.4 or less. Less than half-time. Different requirements for full-time status may apply for tuition, verification, loan deferral, and financial aid. For example, student financial aid eligibility may require a minimum number of hours that support the student's program of study.
