Essay on Winter Morning in English

Winter morning has its own beauty. One does not like to get out of the bed. But one can enjoy better in the open. A morning walk in winter is a fine treat.

One winter morning I decided to go for a walk. A very cold breeze was blowing. I had to cover my face, and my ears with a muffler. I put my hands in my pockets. My eyes were watery and my feet were cold. I saw very few people on the roads. But all of them were wrapped up in woolen clothes. It was difficult to recognise anyone. Even animals like rabbits and dogs were hiding in the bushes of the garden. No bird was chirping. There was mist all around. Nothing was visible. From a distance, even trees looked like ghosts. Similarly, cars on the roads were not visible. Waking in such an atmosphere has a pleasure of its own. After some time one does not shiver and enjoys the cold.

Winter mornings are calm and quiet. I was not disturbed by any noise. People do not stir out. Birds remain in their nests. But summer mornings are noisy. In summer you came across many old people coughing and sneezing. Birds also chirp in summer. A winter morning is more refreshing. The winter wind gives a new thrill. Rising sun during winter is the best scene of nature. We see monkeys and birds sitting on the trees and waiting for the sunrise. I like winter mornings more than summer mornings.

Essay on a Winter Morning 100 words

The morning in the winter season is not as charming as the morning in spring. Now the freezing weather is always there. There usually is a heavy fog. The sun gradually comes out.

The sun gradually comes out. The morning sun is enjoyable. Different kinds of flowers look very fresh and beautiful.

Birds fly here and there and sing sweetly, making winter mornings attractive.

The weather in winter is not always pleasant.

There are heavy mists that precede sunrise on the cold winter morning and make it difficult to see far into the distance. In short, winter mornings are great.

Essay on a Winter Morning in 500 words

A winter morning is a time of both beauty and sadness. The cold, crisp air cuts through your lungs, and the snow falls to the ground in beautiful patterns.

But still, something is unsettling about this quiet hour before dawn, as if someone has died, but they’re not telling you who it was yet.

The mornings in winter are often not as beautiful or warm as the ones in spring. On a cold winter morning, there is typically a heavy fog, and the sun gradually comes out to shine on those who can tolerate it.

The morning’s warmth feels good when you’re bundled up all around your face with clothes and scarves.

The sun isn’t always out in the morning, but you can see how beautiful it is. It looks different from any other day; more golden with a deep yellow hue makes everything look fresh and new.

This kind of sunlight brings people outside to bask in its warmth.

The paddy fields all around look golden with ripe crops, and different flowers start to bloom again outside.

The farmer goes out early in the morning to do work in his field; oxen are pulling a plough behind them while taking care of business.

Cowboys are also going there with their cattle, going over the newly sown fields and taking care of them.

The birds fly around in the sky, singing sweetly to make this early hour more attractive than it would be otherwise.

The beauty of winter mornings is often overshadowed by sadness because they represent a time when darkness has yet to recede.

It’s still dark outside at six-thirty in the morning on a winter day.

Sunrise is lovely, but the night seems to be dragging on and never letting go of its hold on us until we can see it in front of our eyes once again.

I guess that’s why these mornings are often so sad – they represent an end before anything new has begun.

If you want to enjoy a morning in the winter season, I would suggest drinking your coffee outside early with the sun coming up. That way, you can bask in its warmth and take it all in before work starts.

What are some other things that make cold winter mornings special?

For a lot of people, weekends and vacations bring the most opportunities to enjoy these moments.

There’s something so pure about waking up early in the morning on Sunday or vacation when everything is still sleeping. All around you, there’s nothing but silence as if no one else exists.

The morning light is also beautiful and makes it easy to focus on one thing at a time.

You can see the beauty in everything around you without being distracted by things like noise, traffic, or other people’s conversations.

I think winter mornings are unique because they’re not as common for most of us; there are fewer opportunities every day to enjoy them.

As a result, the ones that we do get appreciated more deeply than any other hour of the day.

A winter morning is like drinking cold water on a hot summer’s day; it feels refreshing and reasonable, but you know there’ll be heat soon enough as well.

I hope you enjoyed this essay on the beauty of winter mornings!

It’s been a pleasure to write it for you.

If there are any other thoughts or ideas that come up, please feel free to share them in the comments below. I would love to hear from all my readers and am always happy to answer questions as well.

Essence of Winter

During winters, schools usually take a break and close down. The days are shorter and the nights get longer. The chilly mornings give you a different sense altogether. Hot drinks like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are enjoyed more during winters. The sun rises quite late and sometimes it does not.

Even when it does, it doesn’t get a bit hot. People long for a little sunshine as the cold weather sends chills down the spine. You see people on the roads burning woods and paper to get a little warmth. However, not many people prefer going out in winters. They like sitting by the fireplace or heater all day.

In the hilly areas, people experience snow during winters. They have to shovel it out of the way to make way for walking. The essence of winters is enhanced by Christmas as well. It sets the holiday mood for people and is admired all over the world.

But, there is also a downside of this season. The farmers, homeless people, and animals are most affected by this season. There is hardly any business in this season for farmers. Hundreds of homeless people die due to the harsh winters.

As the animals do not have proper shelter, they too lose their lives. In addition, many flights are also canceled during this season. Nonetheless, this does not make winter any less important. It is quite essential to maintain balance in the weather of our country.

Why I Love Winter?

I personally love winters. This season brings a lot of healthy fruits and vegetables. People get the chance to eat fresh grapes, apples, carrots, cauliflower, guava and more. Furthermore, so many beautiful flowers bloom during this season. These flowers include roses, dahlias and more. This makes winter even more beautiful than it already is.

Other than that, no lizards are to be found as they go in hibernation. This makes me very happy and lets me live fearlessly. Most importantly, winter mornings are the best part of this season for me. I like getting up early in winters and witnessing the morning dew on flowers. There is a different vibe altogether that comes with winters.

Also, our school organizes bonfire which is one of the most awaited events of the year.

In short, winter is as important as any other season. Sure, it may have its negative sides and positive sides, but that happens with every season. Winters helps you enjoy long morning walks and fresh air.

A Winter Morning

A winter morning is dark, cold, calm and misty. There is no sound of chirping birds. Streets look deserted.

Every object is covered with dew. Due to darkness nothing is visible. People prefer to get up late. They do not feel like moving out of their warm and cozy bed.

The morning air is pure and fresh and more beneficial than the air of any summer morning. Very few people go out for a morning walk.

The cold wave makes them shiver and they wear woolen clothes to protect themselves from winter ailments.

The sun rise of a winter morning is very enchanting. Every object of nature shines with a fresh look. Mist disappears slowly. The nature is at its best.

Creating a Winter Wonderland

Creating a winter wonderland is like painting with nature’s own brush, a masterpiece forged from frost and magic.

As you step into this crystalline realm, the world transforms into a shimmering paradise. Each flake of snow, like a unique work of art, adorns the landscape with intricate designs.

The air is electric with the promise of quiet miracles, and every tree stands as a sentinel wrapped in glistening crystal armor.

Here, the world becomes a hushed symphony of nature’s whispers, inviting you to explore the enchantment hidden within the icy tapestry.

The power of sensory details

The power of sensory details lies in their ability to breathe life into words, transforming a mere description into a vivid and immersive experience for the reader.

When you evoke the senses of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste in your writing, you engage the reader on a profound level.

With the stroke of a pen or the typing of keys, you can make them see the snow-capped mountains, hear the melodic chirping of birds, feel the cool breeze on their skin, catch the aroma of blooming flowers, or even taste the bittersweet nostalgia of a childhood memory.

These sensory elements not only enrich the narrative but also create an emotional connection, making the reader not just a passive observer but an active participant in the world you’ve crafted.

In the hands of a skilled writer, sensory details have the power to transcend words, leaving an indelible impression on the reader’s imagination.

Describing winter’s effect on the environment

Winter casts its enchanting spell upon the environment, turning the world into a breathtaking tableau of transformation.

As temperatures plummet and the first snowflakes descend, a serene hush blankets the land. Bodies of water, once teeming with life, now lie beneath a crystalline veneer, their surfaces frozen in stillness.

Windows become canvases for delicate frost patterns, resembling nature’s own intricate artwork. Architecture, too, undergoes a metamorphosis, with rooftops and branches heavy with snow, bending under its weight.

It’s a season of quiet marvels and serene beauty, where the environment, like a patient artist, surrenders to the gentle touch of winter, creating a surreal landscape where each element wears the cloak of frost and serenity.

How To Describe Winter Season In Writing

Evoking Emotions and Atmosphere

Emotions are the symphony, and atmosphere the conductor in the grand opera of storytelling.

Just as a maestro’s baton commands the rise and fall of a musical masterpiece, a skilled writer wields their words to evoke emotions and shape the atmosphere within their narrative.

In the realm of words, we can craft a storm of heartache that drenches the reader with empathy or a sunbeam of joy that warms their very soul.

Through masterful storytelling, we can transport readers to the darkened alleyways of fear or the sunlit gardens of love.

Every paragraph becomes an enchanting melody that resonates in the reader’s heart, every word, a brushstroke on the canvas of their imagination.

To paint the palette of emotions and atmosphere is to awaken the dormant spirits within a story, inviting the reader to dance with the characters, breathe the air of foreign lands, and feel the tremors of emotions that pulse with life.

Winter as a time of introspection

Winter serves as an introspective cocoon, where the world retreats into a silent slumber, and our thoughts unfurl like dormant buds waiting for the warmth of spring.

The snow blankets the land in a quiet serenity, creating an almost otherworldly stillness. In these frozen moments, we find solace in self-reflection, as the bare trees and the chill in the air reflect the stripped-down simplicity of our own thoughts.

The world seems to whisper secrets, inviting us to delve into the depths of our inner landscapes. It’s a time when the crackling of a fireplace becomes an accompaniment to our inner musings, and the solitude of the snow-covered landscape mirrors the silent chambers of our hearts.

Winter, in all its stark beauty, is a sanctuary for introspection, a season that beckons us to delve into the frosty recesses of our souls, seeking clarity and renewal.

The feeling of nostalgia

Nostalgia is a bittersweet embrace of the past, a melody that tugs at the heartstrings, often catching us by surprise.

It’s the scent of an old, worn book, the familiar taste of a childhood dish, or the sepia-toned memories of yesteryears.

Nostalgia is a window into the cherished moments and the places we’ve left behind. It transports us to a time when life seemed simpler, or perhaps when we were different people altogether.

It’s a feeling that brings both comfort and a longing ache, like a familiar face in an old photograph, simultaneously grounding us in the past and reminding us of the inexorable march of time.

Nostalgia has the power to make the ordinary extraordinary, for within its embrace, even the most mundane memories become precious, like shards of a shattered mirror that reflect our lives, refracted through the lens of memory.

Weathering the Elements

Weathering the elements is a courageous dance with nature’s most formidable partners, where humanity and the environment engage in an intricate tango of resilience and adaptability.

The elements of wind, rain, snow, and sun become our tempestuous partners, each challenging us to find our balance on the ever-shifting stage of life.

The thrill of a thunderstorm, the serenity of a gentle snowfall, the relentless force of a hurricane—all these natural phenomena are a testament to the awe-inspiring power of the elements.

As we navigate their capricious moods, we discover our own tenacity, drawing strength from the tempests that test our mettle.

In weathering the elements, we become not just observers of nature’s grand performance, but participants in the ongoing drama of survival, resilience, and the enduring human spirit.

The dramatic tension of winter storms

Winter storms are nature’s grand theater productions, where the stage is set with an icy backdrop, and the players are wind, snow, and the restless sky.

There’s a palpable dramatic tension that builds as dark clouds gather, and the air grows heavy with anticipation.

As the first snowflakes descend, it’s as if the opening act has begun, a delicate overture that soon crescendos into a tempestuous symphony of howling winds and swirling snow. Each snowflake is a character in this epic narrative, vying for its place in the swirling plot.

The world becomes a hushed audience, witnessing the turmoil and the magnificence of a winter storm with bated breath.

Amid this turbulent performance, there’s an undeniable exhilaration, a thrilling sense of nature’s raw power and the fragility of our human existence.

Winter storms are both a spectacle and a reminder of the forces that shape our world, a captivating drama that leaves us in awe of the beauty and chaos of the natural world.

Human interaction with winter

Human interaction with winter is a remarkable tapestry of adaptation and celebration, a testament to our indomitable spirit.

In the face of biting cold and relentless snowfall, we don our warmest attire and venture into the frosty embrace of this season.

From the laughter of children building snowmen to the grace of ice skaters on frozen ponds, we seize the opportunity to revel in the unique activities that winter bestows upon us.

Yet, this interaction also bears the weight of responsibility, as we navigate treacherous roads and prepare for the challenges of snow removal.

Winter is a season that demands both reverence and resilience, where the human spirit shines brightly, illuminating the darkest days with our resourcefulness, creativity, and the warmth of community.

How To Describe Winter Season In Writing

The impact of winter on daily life

The impact of winter on daily life is an intricate interplay of challenge and charm, where the world outside transforms into a breathtaking wonderland while our routines undergo adjustments.

The shorter days and longer nights compel us to adapt, embracing the cozy sanctuary of home and the warmth of shared moments with loved ones.

From the practicality of shoveling driveways and navigating icy streets to the joy of curling up by the fireplace with a good book, winter’s influence weaves its way into every facet of our existence.

It calls for extra layers, hot beverages, and the soothing embrace of comfort food.

In these chilly months, we become both the beneficiaries of nature’s artistry and the architects of our own winter stories, each day a new page to be written in the diary of a season where the world slows down, offering us a chance to savor life’s simpler pleasures.

Paragraph on Winter Morning

Students are often asked to write a paragraph on Winter Morning in their schools. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 200-word, and 250-word paragraphs on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

Paragraph on Winter Morning in 100 Words

A winter morning is very cold and often has frost. When you wake up, you can see your breath turn into a little cloud. The grass looks white because of the ice, and sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can see snowflakes falling from the sky like soft white stars. You have to wear your warmest clothes: a cozy sweater, a thick jacket, a hat, and gloves. The sun takes a long time to rise, and when it does, it makes everything sparkle. People walk quickly to stay warm, and cars go slow because the roads can be slippery. It’s a quiet, chilly time before the day starts.

Paragraph on Winter Morning in 200 Words

A winter morning is like a white blanket of snow covering everything you can see. When you wake up and peek out of your window, you might see the world looking very different. The trees, houses, and cars are all dressed in frosty coats. If you step outside, the air feels crisp and chilly, and your breath comes out like little clouds. Sometimes, your fingers and nose might feel really cold, but wearing gloves and a warm hat can make you feel cozy. The sun is like a sleepy friend, taking a long time to climb up into the sky. It doesn’t get as bright or as hot as it does in summer, so you might want to play outside for a shorter time. The ground can be slippery because of ice, so you have to be careful when you walk. On a winter morning, you might hear the crunching sound your boots make on the snow. It’s quiet and peaceful, with not many birds singing, as many have flown away to warmer places. Before you go to school, having a warm breakfast like oatmeal or hot chocolate can make you feel all toasty inside and ready to start the day.

Paragraph on Winter Morning in 250 Words

A winter morning is a quiet, chilly start to the day when the sun seems to take its time to climb into the sky. As you step outside, you might see a white blanket of frost covering the ground, making the grass crunch under your feet. It’s the kind of cold that makes your breath turn into a little cloud of steam every time you exhale. The trees stand still, their bare branches reaching up like they’re trying to hold onto the last bit of warmth from the sun. People usually dress in warm clothes like cozy sweaters, thick socks, and puffy jackets to keep the cold away. The air is so fresh that it feels like it cleans your lungs with every breath you take. In places where it snows, kids might be excited to see the ground covered in snow, perfect for building snowmen or having snowball fights. The mornings are often quieter too because the cold makes everything slow down a bit. Birds might be huddled together in their nests, fluffing up their feathers to stay warm. Even though it’s cold, there’s a special kind of beauty to a winter morning. The light has a soft, gentle quality, and everything sparkles when the first rays of sunlight touch the frost. It’s a time when you can see your own warm home as a cozy safe place, waiting to welcome you back after a brisk walk in the frosty air. Word Count: 250

405 Words Essay on a Cold Winter Morning

essay on the winter morning

It was the last week of December. The weather was extremely cold. One morning, I got up at four as usual and went out for a stroll. As I stepped out of the house, I began to shiver with cold. An extremely cold wind was blowing.

It was piercing. My hands and feet were benumbed with cold. My nose began to run and ears were as cold as ice. I was chilled to the marrow. My legs became stiff and cold. Not a bird chirped. The birds lay huddled together in their nests.

I ran for about a mile to make myself warm but all to no purpose. My feet were almost frozen. It was foggy and misty. Nothing was visible. The grass was covered with frost. Frost had killed all the flowers and vegetation. The trees stood naked. The temperature touched the freezing point.

I hastened home, took a cup of hot, steaming tea and covered myself with a quilt but I was still shivering with cold. My hands were almost paralyzed. I tried to shave but my fingers did not work. I sat near the fire. I warmed my hands for about half an hour. It was then that I was able to shave myself.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Office-goers had a very hard time. They could not cycle. The steel handles of their cycles were colder than ice. An icy cold wind blew into their faces. They had put on woollen suits, pull-overs, over-coats, socks and gloves, yet they felt cold and uncomfortable.

The poor were the most hard hit. They were without woollen clothes. They had to work in the chilling cold. They shivered in the cold. Their teeth chattered. Their hands and feet were swoollen with cold.

Their miserable condition excited pity. Even the children who are full of the wine of life did not stir out. They covered themselves with quilts to keep themselves warm.

All of a sudden, the sky was overcast with clouds. Clouds began to thunder and lightning began to flash. It began to rain and hail. The ground was soon white with hail-stones.

The weather became intensely cold. All out-door activities were suspended. I sat by the fireplace and waited for the rain to cease. As soon as the rain stopped, I made for the school on my cycle. The biting cold wind made it difficult for me to keep good grip on the handle bar and maintain balance.

How to Describe a Winter Morning in a Story

By Brittany Kuhn

how to describe a winter morning in a story

Is the main plot in your novel set in the winter? Scroll down to get some tips on how to describe a winter morning in a story.

Undisturbed by motion or noise.

“She awoke to a quiet winter morning as the overnight snow had dulled even the softest sound.”

“The quiet winter mornings were his favorite; he could wrap himself in a robe, sip from a warm cup of coffee, and ponder the day ahead in silent contemplation.”

How it Adds Description

Because winter mornings are often still dark, there isn’t a lot of activity as everybody is still forcing themselves to wake up and start the day. Snow also softens sound, so if a winter morning has snowfall, then the morning will be quiet because of the snow.

  • Without movement .
  • Free from disruptions or interference; composed.

“He opened his curtain to a complete still winter morning, not even a leaf rustled outside.”

“Winter morning training runs were made better by how still the rest of the world was around her.”

Still adds to the description in the same way using quiet does but with more of a focus on the lack of motion as opposed to the lack of sound. Using still emphasizes that the rest of the world is struggling to wake up and start moving because the cold, dark morning makes them want to stay in bed where it’s warm.

  • Having a biting chill to the air.
  • Covered with ice.

“Today’s winter morning was just as frosty as yesterday’s.”

“She hated waking up to frosty winter mornings; it made her want to curl back in bed and hibernate until spring came.”

Frost is different from snow: it’s icier, colder, wetter. Where a snowy winter morning might be exciting and playful, a frosty one suggests it’s so cold you can’t escape from it as it seeps into the clothes and bones.

  • Completely relaxed and at peace .
  • Clear skies with no storms and possibly the sun shining.

“We stopped at the top of the hill and took in the serene winter morning scene laid out in front of us.”

“The sun reflecting off the snow-filled fields and crystal-lined tree branches made the winter morning feel more serene than cold.”

Describing the winter morning as serene evokes images of waking up in a cabin in the woods with a soft snowfall outside. So long as there isn’t a blizzard outside, winter mornings can be serene in their quiet and stillness, even if the character is taking a walk in nature among the hibernating animals.

  • Cold in a stimulating, refreshing way.
  • Easily broken.
  • Given to a crunchy sound when tread upon.

“She opened her door to a crisp winter morning and wrapped her scarf a bit tighter around her neck.”

“The crisp winter morning caused the leaves to crunch beneath the children’s steps as they ran and played.”

Crisp is one of those sensory words that activate the senses of touch and sound. It is so cold that the leaves and tree branches have practically been frozen solid, crunchy whenever stepped on, but it’s not a bitter-feeling cold. Instead, a crisp winter morning invites you to wrap up warm and come outside to be a part of it. It is a rejuvenating cold.

Having or covered in a lot of snow .

“Watching out the window as the snow feel on this snowy winter morning made me smile; the softness of it all was comforting to watch.”

“We set out to enjoy the winter morning in spite of its snowiness .”

A snowy morning is a morning with the perfect type of snow: not too much, not too wet. Kids can get out and play in it without feeling too uncomfortable. Because snow reduces sound, a snowy winter morning will often be a quieter one, which will cause less feelings of anxiety and pressure to rush around and get moving.

7. Glistening

Sparkling , often from reflecting another light like the sun.

“The sun glistened off the snowy fields this winter morning.”

“The snowflakes were glistening as they fell in the winter morning sun.”

Glistening shows that the sun is finally out even in the cold and snow. Describing a winter morning as glistening suggests that it will be a beautiful winter day, regardless of what the weather was like the night before or how low the temperature might be throughout the day.

8. Blanketed

Completely covered , as if by a blanket.

“Driving to work this winter morning showed fields blanketed in snow.”

“The winter morning was blanketed in darkness still; it wasn’t quite late enough for the sun to be up yet.”

Blanketed often immediately calls to mind images of fields and houses completely covered in snow. It can also mean that the darkness of those long winter nights is hard to shake off in the mornings.

  • Not having a lot of light
  • With little sun, overcast.
  • Indistinct or unclear.

“The dim winter morning made it even harder to get ready to go to work.”

“She could see the dim light of the day peeking out over the horizon this winter morning.”

Winter is known for the long nights, with the sun starting to rise around 8am in some places. Describing the morning as dim not only shows the reader a more precise time the story is taking place, but also highlights how dark the morning is in spite of the sun rising.

10. Enchanted

  • As if by magic .
  • Completely happy or captivated.

“It was an enchanted winter morning with an effervescence in the air.”

“Whenever the snow fell, it made the winter mornings feel more enchanted and storybook-like.”

Because snow can sparkle in the sunlight, winter mornings after a soft snowfall can look like it’s created by magic. Using enchanted to describe a winter morning like this helps the reader get that feeling of charm and contentment waking up to such a scene.

  • Winter Morning

By Ogden Nash

Winter is the king of showmen, Turning tree stumps into snow men And houses into birthday cakes And spreading sugar over lakes. Smooth and clean and frosty white, The world looks good enough to bite. That’s the season to be young, Catching snowflakes on your tongue! Snow is snowy when it’s snowing. I’m sorry it’s slushy when it’s going.

Summary of Winter Morning

  • Popularity of “ Winter Morning ”: “ Winter Morning” is a short descriptive poem written by Ogden Nash, one of the leading American poets and writers. This wonderful piece doesn’t have an exact publication date. However, it must have been written between mid-20th century. The poem expresses the unfettered joy of the speaker during the winter season. The writer presents a vivid, sensory, and delightful picture of the winter season. The poem captures the vision on how we regain their childlike thrill, wonder and amazement at seeing the winter season in full bloom.
  • “Winter Morning” As a Representative of Wonder: The poem captures the lure of nature from the speaker’s eyes. The jaw-dropping description of the arrival of the winter makes him fall in love with this chilly season. The poet calls it the king of showmen because its arrival brings notable changes to the world. It changes treetops into snowy peaks, houses into birthday cakes, while the lakes wear the white blanket of snow. Thus, the clean and frosty season welcomes everyone to taste its joy. Although the world gets slushy when it’s snowing, yet it brings happiness and excitement to the people.
  • Major Themes in “Winter Morning”: The bounties of nature, merriment and wonder are the major themes of the poem. Throughout the poem, the speaker sings in the praise of the winter season that not only it decorates the world with snow but also it brings delight to our hearts. The speaker is touched by the shift of season; he adores the beauty of nature and stresses the need to welcome this chilly season wholeheartedly.

  • Hyperbole : Hyperbole is a device used to exaggerate a statement for the sake of emphasis. Ogden exaggerates the beauty of the winter throughout the poem such as “Winter is the king of showmen.”
  • Imagery : Imagery is used to make readers perceive things involving their five senses. For example, “Catching snowflakes on your tongue”, “And houses into birthday cakes” and “Turning tree stumps into snow men.”
  • Metaphor : It is a figure of speech in which an implied comparison is made between the objects different in nature. The poet compares winter with a king in the opening line where it is stated as “Winter is the king of showmen.”
  • Symbolism : Symbolism is using symbols to signify ideas and qualities, giving them symbolic meanings different from the literal meanings. Here “winter” and “snow” symbolize the beauty and grandeur of nature.

Analysis of Poetic Devices Used in “Winter Morning”

Poetic and literary devices are the same, but a few are used only in poetry. Here is the analysis of some of the poetic devices used in this poem.

  • End Rhyme : End rhyme is used to make a stanza melodious. For example, “cakes/lakes”, “white/bite” and “young/tongue.”
  • Quatrain : A quatrain is a four-lined stanza borrowed from Persian poetry. Here, the first stanza is a quatrain.
  • Rhyme Scheme : The poem follows an ABAB rhyme scheme , and this pattern continues until the end.
  • Stanza : A stanza is a poetic form of some lines. This poem has two stanzas with each comprising a different number of verses.
  • Sestet : A sestet is a six-lined stanza borrowed from Italian poetry. Here, the second stanza is sestet.

There are six seasons in Bangladesh. Winter is one of them, and it is the coldest season of the year. A winter morning is different from any other morning in the season. A winter morning is foggy and cold. Sometimes, the fog becomes so thick that the sun cannot reach it. Everything looks foggy. People make fires with wood and straw to keep them warm. Rich people wear woolen clothes to keep themselves warm. But the poor people are suffering due to a lack of warm clothes. However, people enjoy winter mornings very much. A winter morning is very cold and foggy. There is dense fog everywhere in the morning. Dew drops fall on the leaves and plants. The farmers go to work early in the morning, wearing warm clothes. Poor people suffer from the cold. They are seen burning fire to warm themselves. When the sun rises, people bask in the sun. If you want to see the winter morning from your heart, you have to go to the village. The cold and foggy weather will impress you there.

When the sun slowly begins to peek out on a winter morning, everyone starts to come out and sit in the sun. Many people try to warm their hands and bodies by burning straws. Poor people cannot afford to buy warm clothes. They are always waiting for the sunshine to protect them from the cold. Winter mornings are not pleasant for poor people. “A Winter Morning” Paragraph in 250 words (For HSC)

Winter in Bangladesh is a season of beauty. The nature of winter morning is calm and sweet. The leaves of the trees, the fields of crops, and the green grass of the fields are all filled with misty dew. The entire nature is covered in a blanket of fog. When the sun rises, the fog begins to disappear. People wear warm clothes in the morning. But homeless people face really tough situations. They don’t get enough warm clothes or even a place to sleep. This season is very difficult for them. Some warm themselves with fire. Thus, they keep them warm. Winter is the best time for vegetables and fruits. We can enjoy a variety of food on winter mornings. At this time we usually eat Pitha, Cake, Pies, etc.

There are different scenes in villages and towns. People find cities busy even in winter. But the villagers mostly pass the time idly. But sometimes they have to go to the fields with cattle and work there. Children love to come out and play. A wonderful attraction on a winter morning is the yellow field of mustard flowers. If you want to enjoy a winter morning, you should come to the village. A winter morning is truly a great gift from nature. If we extend a helping hand to the poor and needy, we all can enjoy the winter mornings with joy. Overall , winter mornings are a great time for us. I love this season so much.

Spring started in D.C. Friday for many of us

It was cool and cloudy, but it was the first day of march.

essay on the winter morning

Perhaps not everyone will agree, but Friday could be counted as the start of spring in the District — almost implausible, possibly a bit unconvincing, but actually spring in one of its many accepted guises.

It may not have been everybody’s idea of spring by its look, by its temperature or by its place on the calendar.

However, it ought to be noted that meteorologists consider the first of March as the start of spring, and they have an important say in what we know and how we think about our seasons.

Reasons for skepticism seemed obvious. The afternoon, at least, was not especially bright with vernal promise. Instead, it was gray with clouds.

If the day were not exactly chilly, it seemed almost chilly. The high temperature in Washington in the afternoon was 54 degrees.

That is 2 degrees above the average for the capital on the first day of March.

The morning’s low temperature was 33. One degree less and the day could have been called freezing. The low was 2 degrees below the average low for the date.

So Friday labored under handicaps in presenting itself as the start of a season from which so much is expected. In itself, it seemed to lack the requisite atmospheric charms.

In addition, it may not have contrasted adequately with the days of January and February that it followed. Those months were warmer than average, January by 2.3 degrees and February by 4.4.

Friday then faced challenges in staking its claim to be the forerunner of a splendid new season rather than a faded remnant of a grim old one.

But that may be to disregard the role played by the sun. The afternoon seemed drab under its gray blanket of clouds, streaked by lower clouds of even darker gray.

But before those clouds encroached, the morning showed at least indications of the potential delights of spring sunshine.

And in an event of particular significance, on Friday, for the first time this year, the sun set after 6 p.m.

The time given on timeanddate.com was 6:01 p.m. It signaled progress toward springtime, warmer weather and longer days.

Maryland Weather: Plan for wet morning commute

By Derek Beasley

Updated on: March 5, 2024 / 6:29 AM EST / CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE--   Tuesday is starting soggy so plan for wet roads on the morning commute.

WET ON THE ROADS: Many of us in Maryland are starting our Tuesday with rain. The bulk of the showers will be out of here between 10 am and noon. Clouds clear out as the afternoon goes on with temps topping out near 60°. #WJZ #FirstAlert #MDWX #Baltimore pic.twitter.com/vW3wHagyPv — Meg McNamara (@MegWJZ) March 5, 2024

Chances for wet weather decrease from southwest to northeast as the low-pressure system pulls away.

A few lingering showers may persist into the afternoon, but most of the rain should cease before lunchtime. Highs on today are expected to reach the mid to upper 50s.

A brief respite from the rain is anticipated  tonight through early Wednesday. However, another storm system approaching from the west will bring rain back into the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Conditions are forecasted to be dry from Thursday afternoon through Thursday night, with highs on Thursday reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 40s.

Another storm system is expected to approach the region by late Friday, leading to mostly cloudy skies and a chance of rain by sunset, continuing overnight.

Rain will persist intermittently throughout Saturday, with highs in the upper 50s. Scattered showers will extend into Sunday, although with much lower rain chances. Sunday's high is anticipated in the mid-50s.

The weather on Monday is expected to feature a mix of clouds and sunshine, with highs in the low 50s.
