The Research Specialist carries out specific research objectives or other projects defined by the Principal Investigator.  The duties of the Research Specialist will vary in level of responsibility and complexity depending on the grant project.

Education:  A bachelor’s degree is required; a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline of the hiring college or research center is preferred. 

Skills: Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.  Must have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff, as well as to communicate effectively with off-campus collaborators.  Proficiency with basic spreadsheet, graphics, and word processing software is required.  The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. This Clinical Research Specialist will be responsible for supporting one or several clinical trials within the Clinical R&D Department while fostering strong, productive relationships with colleagues across the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

·         Serve as a Clinical Research Specialist within the Clinical R&D Department to support execution of company sponsored clinical trials, ensuring compliance with timelines and study milestones, for the Mentor Worldwide, LLC under supervision;

·         Participate in the feasibility, selection, set up, conduct and closure of a clinical trial within the allocated countries, in accordance with the ICH-GCP, applicable legislation and Company Standard Operating Procedures; 

·         May serve as the primary contact for clinical trial sites (e.g. site management);

·         Assist in the development of clinical trial documents (e.g. study protocol, informed consents, CRF, monitoring plan, study manual, investigator brochure, annual reports), ensure registration on www.clinicaltrials.gov from study initiation through posting of results and support publications as needed;

·         Coordination and execution of ordering, tracking, and managing investigational products and trial materials;

·         Interface and collaborate with site personnel, IRBs/ECs, contractors/vendors, and company personnel;

·         Assist in overseeing the development and execution of Investigator agreements and trial payments;

·         Assist in clinical data review to prepare data for statistical analyses and publications;

·         If applicable, may perform monitoring activities including site qualification visits, site initiation visits, interim monitoring visits or close out visits based on study need;

·         If applicable, as part of a clinical trial, may provide on-site procedural protocol compliance and data collection support to the center;

·         Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level. Function as a reliable, trusted resource of accurate, up-to-date project knowledge as requested by key stakeholders;

·         Assist in tracking assigned project budgets;

·         Develop a strong understanding of the pipeline, product portfolio and business needs;

·         Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures;

·         Generally manages work with supervision, dependent on project complexity. Independent decision-making for simple situations but required guidance for complex situations.

The base pay range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000 based on experience .  The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

·         Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Life Science, Physical Science, Nursing, or Biological Science required .                     

·         At least 2 years relevant experience (1+ with Advanced Degree).

·         Previous experience in clinical research or equivalent is desired.

·         Relevant industry certifications preferred (i.e., CCRA, CCRC, CCRP, RAC, CDE, GCP, ISO 14155, MDR, MEDDEV,…).

·         Clinical/medical background a plus.

·         Medical device experience a plus.

·         Good understanding of clinical research science and processes, clinical trends, and global clinical trial regulations.

·         Proven track record in supporting clinical projects within clinical/ surgical research setting, on time, and in compliance to SOPs and regulations.

·         Presentation and technical writing skills.

·         Written and oral communication skills.

·         Ability to travel approximately 20% depending on the phase of the program.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of HR Talent and Acquisition and working closely with the Sr. Director and AC of HR, the responsibilities include: -Work with and provide guidance to hiring managers to create and modify job descriptions in accordance with DCAS Title Specifications. -Conduct job analysis for all vacancies prior to posting and/or PAR preparation. -Create job postings, assessing job descriptions, preferred skills and abilities requested. -Prepare Personnel Action Requests (PAR) for all EMS, Uniform, and civilian vacancies including blanket PAR's for civil service list calls. -Vet candidate resumes as needed to fill various positions. -Utilize the Applicant Tracking Systems (PARTS) to process approved job vacancies and track candidate data and hiring status. -Prepare correspondence, such as, conditional offers of employment, internal approval memos and employee notifications for changes to title level and/or salary. -Assist with status updates, communicating effectively, professionally, and respectfully with Bureaus and ensuring that the posting, candidate selection and on-boarding process is handled smoothly. -Serve as back up to other roles in the Unit and perform other HR related functions as needed.

Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
