“If you're a bear for TV, loud music, and fun, how ya gonna get your homework done?” — Opening quote for The Berenstain Bears and the Homework Hassle

The Berenstain Bears and the Homework Hassle is a book in the Berenstain Bears First Time Books series that was originally published on July 14, 1997.

It was adapted into an episode of the same name for the 2003 TV series The Berenstain Bears .

Synopsis [ ]

Mama and Papa find out that Brother had been falling behind on his grades. They learn that Brother has been too indulged into listening to music, watching TV, and talking to Cousin Freddy on the phone. When Brother explains that the problem is too much homework, he goes to Gramps and Gran for help.

Meanwhile, Papa finds himself in hot water with the Bear Revenue Service (BRS) because he had been behind on paying his taxes.

Mama Bear and Papa Bear suddenly smell something funny. Mama Bear discovers the funny smell smells like garbage and it was coming from Brother’s backpack. After dumping the garbage out of the backpack, she finds an old, wrinkled letter from Brother’s teacher, Teacher Bob. It says that Brother is falling behind from school.

Mama and Papa find Brother with all sorts of distractions near the TV, but nonetheless there was homework on the table. Papa chastises Brother for not reading much of anything and had been on Mars for all the attention he’s been paying to his homework. Mama then chastises Brother that his backpack is not private anymore when it starts to smell like garbage.

Sister smugly says that there’s a lot for Brother to go around than to catch up on his homework, much to Brother’s annoyance. Mama tells everyone to calm down to figure out what the problem is, but Brother angrily tells them that the problem was too much homework. Papa calms him down and asks him what his homework was for today, which was adding and subtracting fractions, as well as memorizing two stanzas of “The Bear Stood On the Burning Deck”. Papa then replies that it seemed like far less homework than he claimed, and that the real problem was that Brother didn’t take care of business and he was falling behind at school. He punishes Brother for no more other stuff and it’s just him and his homework until he’s all caught up, much to Brother’s dismay.

He sadly heads out the door for a walk, but it lead him to Gramps and Gran’s house. He explains to him that he is punished for no other stuff until he was caught up on his homework, which Brother says will be impossible now, considering how far behind he’s fallen. But Gramps gives him advice that he will catch up on his homework at school, revealing that Papa used to be the same way at his age, which made Brother feel better.

Brother returns home and Papa was talking to a man from the BRS. The man replies that Papa was falling behind in his taxes and tells him to catch up. And so. Brother was starting to catch up on his homework and Papa was catching up on his tax payments, which was a good lesson for the both of them.

Stan Berenstain

Stan and Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists for magazines and adult humor books when they began writing children's books. The first story starring the bear family, The Big Honey Hunt, appeared in 1962. Since then, more than 370 Berenstain Bears books have been published, and more than 300 million copies have been sold. What began as an idea sparked by their young sons' love of reading has become over the years arguably the best-selling children's book series ever.

Since their inception, the Berenstain Bears stories have expanded to include picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books--even a hit TV show on PBS. Writing and illustrating the books has become a Berenstain family affair. Mike joined with his parents as a creative team in the late 1980s. The Bear family has expanded over the years as well. Sister Bear arrived in 1974, and baby Honey joined the family in 2000.

Russia establishes special site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600

!{Model.Description}

A special production site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600 fast reactor under construction has been established at Russia’s Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ - Machine-Building Plant) in Elektrostal (Moscow region), part of Rosatom’s TVEL Fuel Company.

As part of the project, MSZ had upgraded existing facilities fo the production of fuel for fast reactors, TVEL said on 3 March. Unique equipment has been created and installed, and dummy CFR-600 fuel assemblies have already been manufactured for testing.

The new production site was set up to service an export contract between TVEL and the Chinese company CNLY (part of China National Nuclear Corporation - CNNC) for the supply of uranium fuel for CFR-600 reactors. Construction of the first CFR-600 unit started in Xiapu County, in China's Fujian province in late 2017 followed by the second unit in December 2020. The contract is for the start-up fuel load, as well as refuelling for the first seven years. The start of deliveries is scheduled for 2023.

“The Russian nuclear industry has a unique 40 years of experience in operating fast reactors, as well as in the production of fuel for such facilities,” said TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova. “The Fuel Division of Rosatom is fulfilling its obligations within the framework of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the development of fast reactor technologies. These are unique projects when foreign design fuel is produced in Russia. Since 2010, the first Chinese fast neutron reactor CEFR has been operating on fuel manufactured at the Machine-Building Plant, and for the supply of CFR-600 fuel, a team of specialists from MSZ and TVEL has successfully completed a complex high-tech project to modernise production,” she explained.

A special feature of the new section is its versatility: this equipment will be used to produce fuel intended for both the Chinese CFR-600 and CEFR reactors and the Russian BN-600 reactor of the Beloyarsk NPP. In the near future, the production of standard products for the BN-600 will begin.

The contract for the supply of fuel for the CFR-600 was signed in December 2018 as part of a governmental agreement between Russia and China on cooperation in the construction and operation of a demonstration fast neutron reactor in China. This is part of a wider comprehensive programme of cooperation in the nuclear energy sector over the coming decades. This includes serial construction of the latest Russian NPP power units with generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors at two sites in China (Tianwan and Xudabao NPPs). A package of intergovernmental documents and framework contracts for these projects was signed in 2018 during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
