As specialist book printers, we work with a variety of customers to produce some unique books. A growing trend for us is our thesis and dissertation printing. We have produced a number of books in this genre as casebound hardback books with various unique options such as; cover foiling, embossing and spot UV.

You can have your thesis or dissertation printed and bound at almost any size as a paperback or a hardback. Our most common size for thesis and dissertation printing is in either Royal format (234x156mm) or A4 format (297x210mm).

If your thesis or dissertation is at a custom size, as long as it is over A6 and under A4 landscape then we will be able to print and bind it as a paperback or a hardback book.

We have a vast range of paper types to choose from depending on the content of your book. Our most popular paper types are below;

80gsm Opaque  - Good for nonfiction books and good for keeping the costs low. Opaque 80gsm is our cheapest paper and helps with cheap book printing if you are on a budget.

100gsm Opaque  - Also good for non-fiction books. As it is a heavier paper than the opaque 80gsm it is better for colour images as there will be less show through. It is more expensive than the opaque 80gsm but only by a little.

80gsm Munken Bookwove White  - This is the standard paper for novels and fiction titles. It is a slightly off-white paper with a slightly rough/textured feel. It is also good for ‘bulking’ up the book as it is slightly thicker than the 80gsm and 100gsm opaque papers.

80gsm Munken Bookwove Cream  - This is the same paper as the Bookwove White but as the name suggests, this is the cream version. Again this paper is mostly used for novels and for making the spine of your book bigger.

100gsm Recycled  - A popular paper for non-fiction titles. This is our recycled paper which is a white similar to the 100gsm Opaque but has a slightly rougher feel but is smoother than the Bookwove papers.

We also offer a range of coated papers from 115gsm to 170gsm which are good for printing photographs and high-quality images. We are able to print any number of pages in a plate section on the coated papers and then insert them into the book. This is a great option if you want to have the text printed on the nice Bookwove paper and have some colour images on 130gsm coated paper.

If you are struggling to decide on the paper you want please visit our blog post on paper types or get in contact with us directly to discuss your options. If the paper you want is not listed above or on our website, we may be able to order it in.

For our casebound hardback books, we use a 135gsm coloured wibalin cover wrapped around a 2750 micron board or we can use a PPC cover wrapped around the same board instead of the coloured wibalin. This is by far the most popular option with dissertation printing as it provides the best protection for our book and will certainly last several lifetimes if it is cared for.

For our paperback covers, we use 240gsm cover board; however, other thicknesses are available. After printing, we usually apply a laminate, this would be either a gloss or matt lamination. For hardback books  We are able to offer extra unique touches to our covers such as spot UV, please enquire for more details.

We offer various options to add a touch of elegance and professionalism:

  • Foiling: Add a metallic or colored foil to your book cover for a luxurious and eye-catching effect. Foiling can be used for logos, titles, or other design elements to make them stand out.
  • Embossing: Create a raised or 3D effect on specific areas of your cover. Embossing adds a tactile dimension to your booklet, making it more engaging and visually appealing.
  • Shrink Wrapping: Ensure your booklets arrive in pristine condition with shrink wrapping. This protects each booklet during transport and provides a professional finish for distribution or retail display.

These extras can significantly elevate the look and feel of your hardback book, making them stand out and leaving a lasting impression on your audience.

Perfect bound paperbacks come with a minimum spine width of 3 mm, which roughly equates to a 36-page book printed on our 80gsm munken bookwove paper. The maximum spine width is 50 mm which when printed on our 80gsm bookwove paper would equate to roughly 720 pages or 950 pages when printed on our 80gsm opaque paper. You can use our  spine width calculator  to work out the spine width for your dissertation.

If you need more details about our hardback printing, please get in touch with us. You can call us at 01392 851550 or drop an email to [email protected] .

Thesis Printing and Binding

You’re nearly there – all those hours in the library are about to end as the most crucial piece of writing you’ve ever done is almost completed!  So, if you’re busy putting together the final touches to your thesis, you don’t want to worry about where to have it printed and bound in plenty of time.

Come on – the hard work is nearly done, and then you can leave it to us, the experts, to ensure your thesis binding in London is a professional job, as once you leave your precious document with us, the pros, we’ll craft into a finished, quality-bound hardback book you’ll be proud of, ready for submission…

So, if you need a thesis or document binding job, and if you live in the London area, then you’re in luck, as the Document Centre in London has the best options and types of dissertation binding services available. You are just as lucky if you are not in London as we offer delivery services too!

Dissertation Decisions, decisions…

Once you’ve got your proofreading out of the way, all you need to concern yourself with are questions such as:

  • What’s the best binding option for my thesis?
  • What’s my turn-around time?
  • How many copies do I need?
  • What type of print settings should I opt for? Do I need colour?  Single or double-sided?  What paper thickness?
  • What do I need on the spine?
  • What are my university regulations?
  • And – perhaps most importantly –where’s the best place for thesis binding in London?

You need to check with your specific university before you choose any binding covers and printing options because some universities want specific printing formats and book coverings – but perhaps you have lots of individual choices, and you can therefore have more of a bespoke option …

We’ve Got Your Binding Covered (and your printing too!)

Once you’ve decided where you’re going to have your dissertation binding done in London, you’ll find you can start to really relax once the professionals have their hands on your work.

Many people opt for leather binding for their work as it is the highest quality binding option: leather is perfect for major final papers such as dissertations and theses. You can also emboss the cover and spine with your title and your university’s logo and add finishing touches such as a bookmark or corner protectors to make your thesis submission really stand out from the madding crowd.

Or maybe you decide you want a thermal binding – this is the most versatile of all the bindings as it can handle up to 450 pages.  With its transparent front cover – you can still have a tremendous front title page, but at a fraction of the cost.  Or, you could go for softcovers which are popular as they can be creative, as you can design your title page with different fonts, logos, pictures and images.  However, spiral binding is the most cost-effective thesis binding London option.  You can choose metal or plastic as your binding choices – they may not look as professional as other options,  but they are a versatile, practical choice.

It makes sense to go to an established dissertation binding London professional business so that you can relax and know you’re in safe hands whether you need last-minute express binding and a wide range of print and bind options at great prices.

Now all you have to do is sit back and chillax, knowing your thesis is bound to look great with the Document Centre’s professional printing and binding input!

Why should I do my dissertation binding online?

  • 24-hour delivery for dissertations, even in large quantities. Order before the countdown above runs out, and we deliver the next day (depending on your location)
  • Free delivery
  • No minimum order value

What are the costs for dissertation printing?

The most important factor for most students when it comes to dissertation printing is the price. The price includes factors such as the type of binding and the number of pages when printing and binding your dissertation. You can calculate the exact price for your dissertation printing beforehand in our print shop .

Would you like to print your dissertation, for instance, with 20 pages, and then bind it with the premium leather binding with additional embossed details? The estimated cost is $64.80. This is 45% less compared to other market prices! Plus: with BachelorPrint, your order is delivered for free!

At BachelorPrint, we use 100 g/m² premium paper as standard for printing and set the same price for color and black/white printing.

Where can I order my dissertation binding?

To have your dissertation printed and bound, you can either go to a copy shop or simply order your dissertation binding online. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

One advantage of the print shop is that you can conveniently place your order from home. You configure your binding and then look at the end product using our 3D live preview. Then simply order and get your order delivered the next day for free.

Which paper to use for printing and binding a dissertation?

For works, such as dissertations, either 80 g/m² paper or 100 g/m² paper is used. At BachelorPrint we use 100 g/m² paper as our standard, as it is not only more robust but also feels better when you browse through the dissertation. However, if you want to print and bind your dissertation on both sides, we recommend that you use 120 g/m² paper to ensure that the text does not show through.

If you want to know more about the right paper for your dissertation, follow this link to our blog post: Which paper for dissertation printing & binding?

Which type of binding is recommended for a dissertation?

We recommend high-quality binding for important works, such as a dissertation. For this reason, the leather binding is our top recommendation! It looks noble and high-grade and gives your examiner a perfect first impression.

How long does dissertation binding take?

If you decide on dissertation binding with BachelorPrint, we recommend that you keep an eye on the countdown above and make use of the delivery time calculator as soon as possible. The next-day express delivery is free of charge at BachelorPrint.

Visit the print shop to see your exact delivery date.

How can I save money when printing a dissertation?

With BachelorPrint you have many options to have your dissertation printed and bound inexpensively. Additionally, you can also get embossing for “type of work” free of charge, as well as express delivery.

Do you want to save extra money? Check our page for free printing !

Dissertation Binding and Printing | Options, Tips, & Comparison

Published on September 9, 2022 by Raimo Streefkerk . Revised on July 18, 2023.

Congratulations, you’ve finally finished your dissertation . It’s been professionally proofread and checked by a solid plagiarism checker .

The final step is printing your dissertation, which means choosing between:

  • Types of binding
  • Color vs. black & white

Single vs. double-sided

  • Paper thickness

There are a few printing and binding services to choose from as well. This article presents a few options that can help you make the right decisions.

Printing service options

Table of contents

Types of dissertation binding, dissertation printing options, production and delivery times, last checks before printing, overview of printing and binding services, other interesting articles.

Binding keeps the pages of your dissertation together, and comes in a variety of price points. Spiral binding is cheaper, a hardcover book binding is much pricier.

The type of binding you choose can depend on:

  • Guidelines from your university or department
  • The version (draft vs. final)
  • The type of work you’re submitting ( PhD vs. master’s thesis vs. undergraduate thesis )

Spiral binding (± $7)

Spiral bound

  • Professional appearance
  • Opens flat, so browsing through the pages is easy
  • Fairly inexpensive

Comb binding (± $5)

Comb bound

  • Pages are easy to browse
  • Binding can be opened and closed
  • Can be cheap-looking

Fastback binding (± $8)

fastback bound

  • Professional, book-like appearance
  • Available in different colors
  • Individual sheets can come loose with time

Paperback binding ($10–20)

paperback bound

This type of binding makes your dissertation more durable and professional. In most cases, it’s possible to add front and spine lettering.

  • Durable and professional
  • Book-like appearance
  • Opening and browsing is less smooth than with spiral or comb binding

Hardback binding ($20–50)

hardback bound

  • Customizable cover
  • Quality comes at a price

Color vs. Black & White

Check your university’s guidelines to see if there is guidance about whether to print your dissertation in color or black & white. Note that printing in color is on average two to four times more expensive.

In general, a color-printed dissertation looks more professional, but it is often not required.

Printing double-sided is often cheaper than printing single-sided, due to the paper savings — it makes your dissertation half as thick. However, some universities require you to print your dissertation single-sided. Be sure to check the guidelines.

When printing your dissertation double-sided, pay attention to the following points:

  • New chapters should start on the front side of the paper. You will need to take this into account and insert “blank pages” when preparing to print.
  • Add a blank page after the title page so that the acknowledgments and abstract are not printed on the back of your title page.
  • The page numbering is often placed in the bottom right on the right side of the page and bottom left on the left side. You can easily set this in Word by choosing “outside alignment”.
  • Check your style guide to make sure there aren’t any rules for printing.

Paper weight

The thickness of the paper (measured in gsm or grams) is something most students don’t think about, but it does have a significant impact on the look and feel of your printed thesis or dissertation.

Standard printing paper has a weight of 75–90 gsm. For a bachelor’s or master’s dissertation, this is likely fine. If you want the paper to look and feel more professional and durable, a paper weight of 100–130 gsm is better. This is often used for PhD dissertations.

Number of copies

It is common to print three to five copies of your dissertation. Depending on your university’s guidelines, you might need to submit one to three copies to your supervisor and department. In addition, you might want to have a copy for yourself or your family.

The production time for printing and binding takes on average two days, and delivery takes at least another day. For an additional charge (ranging from +20 to +80%), the production and delivery time can be shortened.

Have a looming deadline? Your local print shop is likely able to print and bind your dissertation faster, and it eliminates delivery time. However, keep in mind that this is often a little more expensive.

Before sending your dissertation to a print shop, there are three things you should do:

  • Save your file as a PDF By saving your file as a PDF, the formatting will be consistent on every computer. This way you prevent any unpleasant surprises, such as offset pages, when receiving your printed product.
  • Check for language mistakes There’s nothing worse than finding a language mistake in your printed version. Make sure to proofread your dissertation or make use of a professional proofreading service .
  • Update the contents page Before saving your dissertation as a PDF, don’t forget to update the table of contents and cross-check the page numbers listed there with the actual page numbers.

The table below provides an overview of two popular dissertation printing and binding shops, including information on delivery costs and review score.

*Prices are based on a spiral-bound dissertation of 40 pages , printed single-sided , in black , on 80-90gsm  paper, including a clear outer front and back cover .

**Prices are based on a hardback-bound dissertation of 200 pages , printed single-sided , in black , on 90-100gsm  paper.

Formatting and binding

Guidelines on the formatting and binding of doctoral theses.

Printed theses are normally A4 in size. Alternative sizes may be permitted where there is good academic reason (for example where the thesis includes a design portfolio) and with the prior approval of the supervisor.

Single spacing throughout the body of the text is acceptable and is essential for indented quotations and footnotes, but double or 1.5 spacing may be more easily readable for 11pt or 12pt text and is more commonly used. Print copies may be required, therefore margins at the binding edge should be not less than 20mm and other margins not less than 15mm. Where a print copy of the thesis is required, it should preferably be printed double-sided.

Pages should be numbered consecutively throughout the thesis, including pages containing diagrams, figures, illustrations, appendices and references. Figures or images included within the thesis must be of sufficient size and clarity as to be legible.

Thesis titles should be concise. Theses should normally be word-processed, and good printing quality is essential. Other options, e.g. LaTeX may be used, where appropriate to the discipline.

Format of the title page and outside cover

The title page must include the following

  • the full title of the thesis
  • the author's name in full
  • the degree for which the thesis is being submitted
  • the department in which the work has been carried out
  • the date (month and year) of submission

The front cover must show

  • the name 'University of Sheffield' and logo
  • the initials and surname of the author
  • the degree for which the thesis is submitted
  • the year of submission
  • the volume number (if the thesis comprises more than one volume)

Thesis summary

It is a regulatory requirement that the thesis should include a summary or abstract, which should not exceed 300 words in length.

Thesis binding

Should the student require a hard copy of the thesis, Print and Creative Services provides a thesis printing and binding service using a channel binding system. There are three binding packages available for theses, which include comb, wiro and hard binding and include a CD copy. All packages meet university regulations for thesis first submissions and resubmissions.

Hard binding has your details (e.g. name of student, title of thesis and date of submission) gold foiled onto the cover of the document. Full details of the three options, including prices, are available from Print and Creative Services.

It is recommended that 100gsm A4 paper is used (although 80gsm is acceptable). The maximum thickness of a bound volume is 35mm with covers (or 32mm without covers). Therefore, if the unbound copy of a student’s thesis is more than 32mm thick, the thesis will have to be bound into two volumes. Where two or more volumes are required, normal practice is for the bibliography and/or appendices to form the second volume. In such cases, the thesis will require two title pages, which specify ‘Volume 1’ and ‘Volume 2’ respectively; however, only one contents page is required in Volume 1.

If amendments are required after the oral examination has been held, volumes can be rebound by Print and Creative Services following insertion of new pages (RE bind cost applies).

Before submitting work for binding, students are advised to make sure that the material is in good order, as pages are bound strictly in the order in which they are delivered. Items for rebinding should have the new pages inserted by the author.

Binding work is usually completed within 2-3 working days of acceptance. However, at busier times it may not be possible to complete all work within the normal timescale. Students are advised to present their work in good time for binding or alteration. Under certain circumstances Print and Creative Services provides a same day/24-hour service; however, this incurs an extra charge per copy. Further information can be found on the Print and Creative Services site.

Submitting your thesis for examination (PhD, EdD, MD, BusD, MLitt, MSc)

Format of the thesis.

The thesis must:

be written in British English, apart from quotations and recognised technical formulae

be in A4 portrait format

use one-and-a-half spaced type

include any photographs or other illustrations scanned into the text

be saved in the electronic format and naming style specified by your Degree Committee

Examiners are not expected to edit work. They will deal with errors of fact and typographical errors that affect the meaning of your work, as well as larger structural issues. The extent to which the text has or has not been properly prepared may influence their recommendation concerning the award of the degree. You are therefore advised to check your thesis thoroughly prior to submission to ensure clear, formal British English has been used throughout and that there are minimal typing and/or spelling mistakes.

How and when to present the thesis for examination

You must submit an electronic copy of your thesis for examination, and any required accompanying documents, to your Degree Committee by your submission deadline (which can be found under 'Thesis Submission details' on the Academic tile in your CamSIS self-service). You are required to submit your thesis for examination by your deadline even if the date falls over a weekend or holiday period.

Your Degree Committee should provide you with guidance for electronic submission; please contact them directly if you require any assistance.

The thesis you submit to your Degree Committee will be the thesis forwarded to the examiners for examination. It is not possible to 'retract submission' or to send a revised copy directly to your examiners. Therefore you should carefully check the file(s) you upload when submitting your thesis.

Postgraduate students must keep a minimum number of terms of research before they can submit (for example, 9 for the full-time PhD or 15 for the part-time PhD or EdD) unless they have been granted an allowance or exemption of terms . If you attempt to submit too early and have not had an allowance or exemption of terms approved, your thesis submission will not be accepted or will be kept on hold and not forwarded to your examiners until the first day of your 9th (full-time) or 15th (part-time) term.

Requirements

You must include the following bound inside your thesis:

1. A title page displaying:

the full title of the thesis

your full legal name (as it appears on your passport, marriage certificate or deed poll)

your college

the date of submission (month and year)

a declaration stating: "This thesis is submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy/Doctor of Education/Doctor of Business/Doctor of Medicine/Master of Science/Master of Letters (as appropriate)."

2. A declaration in the preface stating:

This thesis is the result of my own work and includes nothing which is the outcome of work done in collaboration except as declared in the preface and specified in the text.

It is not substantially the same as any work that has already been submitted before for any degree or other qualification except as declared in the preface and specified in the text.

It does not exceed the prescribed word limit for the [insert relevant] Degree Committee. (For more information on the word limits for the respective Degree Committees see Word Limits and Requirements of your Degree Committee )

3. An abstract/summary of your thesis

4. [if applicable] the list of additional materials that were approved for submission alongside the thesis

You must also submit the following documents (not included inside the thesis):

Required: One declaration form

Optional: Research Impact Statement If pandemic, war/conflict, or natural disaster have significantly impacted on your research, you are invited to submit a Research Impact Statement with your thesis using the template provided. The purpose of the statement is for you to describe any restrictions or difficulties experienced in undertaking your research as a result of pandemic, war/conflict, or natural disaster, and to provide details of any alternative arrangements made to complete the work for your thesis. Further details for students and supervisors can be found in the Research Impact Statement guidance  and the Research Impact Statement form can be downloaded here .

Inclusion of additional materials

Students other than those in the Faculty of Music must seek permission through their  CamSIS Self Service page if they wish to submit additional materials for examination alongside their thesis. Additional materials are integral to the thesis but in a format that cannot be easily included in the main body of the thesis (for example, 3D graphics). You should refer to the ' Policy on the inclusion of additional materials with a thesis ' before making an application to include additional materials. This process should be initiated prior to the thesis submission. If a thesis is submitted with additional materials and without permission to include them, it will be held by the Degree Committee until approval is confirmed.

Please bear in mind that if you are granted permission to submit additional materials, you are required to upload the same materials to the University repository, Apollo , when you submit your approved thesis  post-examination (doctoral candidates only). Therefore, the inclusion of additional material that contains uncleared third-party copyright or sensitive material may affect the access level that is most appropriate for your thesis.

Submitting a revised thesis

If you are resubmitting your thesis following a viva outcome of being allowed to revise and resubmit the thesis for examination for a doctoral degree, you need to follow the same procedure as for the original thesis submission .

What happens following submission of the thesis for examination

When you submit your thesis for examination the Degree Committee will check the submission, acknowledge receipt, and inform Student Registry you have submitted. The Student Registry will update your CamSIS record.

The Degree Committee will forward your thesis to your examiners. If you have not received confirmation of the date of your viva (oral examination) within six weeks of submitting your thesis, or if you have any questions with regard to your thesis at this stage, you should contact your Degree Committee.

Your Examiners should not ask you for a printed copy of your thesis or other material in advance of your viva (oral examination). If they do, please seek advice from your Degree Committee.

PhD (doctoral) theses

Accessing our collection of Goldsmiths PhD (doctoral) theses.

Primary page content

On this page:

Print theses in the Library

Digital copies in gro and ethos, using library search to find theses, finding practice research theses on gro, finding creative writing theses on gro.

Until 2020, a single copy of all Goldsmiths PhD (doctoral) theses were deposited in the Library, in the same year that they were awarded. In the 2020-21 academic year, PhD candidates were asked to deposit their final thesis in digital format only as an interim adjustment due to Covid-19. Please see  the Graduate School guidance on thesis deposit formats .

All print copies of PhD theses held in the library are discoverable on Library Search .

Printed theses are for reference only and cannot be borrowed, because they are unique. Theses are not available for browsing on the open shelves and are instead held in our store.

Print theses can be consulted in the Library upon request by using the ‘Place a hold’ function on Library Search .  Guidance on using the ‘Place a hold’ function  is also available. Requested theses can be collected from the Library Help Desk during opening hours .

Most printed theses may be photocopied, but do check the coversheet inside as that will tell you what permission the author has given for copying. If no restrictions are specified then you can copy no more than 5% of the thesis, or one chapter, provided it is for research or private study.

Please note that University of London theses were held at Senate House Library until 2010, but were then transferred back to the home institution so there are no print copies of Goldsmiths theses held at Senate House Library.

Digital copies of many Goldsmiths PhD (doctoral) theses are available from two sources:

  • Goldsmiths Research Online (GRO)
  • EThOS , the British Library's collection of UK theses

Theses completed on or after 1 June 2010 are collected in Goldsmiths Research Online (GRO) and also made available in the British Library's EThOS service.

Copyright restrictions mean that it is not possible to make all theses available in GRO or EThOS. In some cases, embargoes are requested by authors following the completion of their thesis. This means that the bibliographic details and abstract of the thesis is available on GRO but the full text cannot be downloaded. Embargoes are not permanent and it is rare that an embargo will extend beyond the standard length of 36 months.

Theses from before 2010, originally deposited in Senate House Library, which are not yet available digitally can usually be requested for digitisation from EThOS. You will need to register with EThOS to make a digitisation request, but there is no charge for requesting a digital copy of a Goldsmiths thesis, because Goldsmiths is an open access sponsor of EThOS.

Some theses completed before 2010 have been digitised and are available in GRO and ETHoS. If you completed your thesis at Goldsmiths before 2010, we would encourage you to make a digital copy of your thesis available. Please contact the Goldsmiths Research Online team on gro (@gold.ac.uk) , if you would like to know more about making a digital copy of your thesis available.

How to find theses on Library Search

All print copies of PhD theses held in the Library are on Library Search . Theses with access to the full text on GRO can also be found on Library Search. Some theses from other UK universities that are available on the British Library EThOS service can also be found on Library Search (you will need to register for a free EThOS account in order to download theses through the service).

To find a specific PhD thesis, you can search for the author or title on Library Search .

phd thesis printing uk

The results may include both print and digital copies of the thesis.

Digital copies will have an ‘Online access’ or ‘Full text available’ link. For Goldsmiths theses, the ‘Online access’ link will take you to the copy of the full text thesis on Goldsmiths Research Online . For theses from other institutions, the link will take you to the record held on the British Library EThOS service.

Print copies will list the Dewey classmark.

To find theses on a particular subject area or discipline, you can perform a keyword search on Library Search and then use the ‘Refine my results’ options on the right of the results page to filter your results to ‘Theses’.

phd thesis printing uk

You can also use the ‘Advanced Search’ function to search for theses only by selecting ‘Theses’ in the ‘Material Type’ field.

How to find theses on GRO

GRO offers some search options that are not available on Library Search and it is recommended if you wish to find theses produced by a specific department or find theses which make use of practice research or creative writing methods.

Please note that some theses listed on GRO are under embargo and full text is not currently accessible.

Finding theses on GRO for a specific department

Navigate to  GRO . From the landing page, use the drop-down menu on the right hand side to select "Advanced Search". In "Advanced Search" select "Thesis" as the item type.

phd thesis printing uk

In the "Departments, Centres and Research Units" field, select the appropriate department. To select more than one department, hold down the "Ctrl" (PC) or "Cmd" (Mac) key while clicking on the relevant departments.

phd thesis printing uk

In the “Full Text Status” field select “Public” to search for theses with full text availability. If you want to see all theses held on GRO for the department regardless of full text status leave all the boxes unticked.

Hit the “Search” button at the bottom of the page.

Navigate to  GRO . From the landing page, use the drop-down menu on the right-hand side to select "Advanced Search". In "Advanced Search" select "Thesis" as the item type.

Customers rate our proofreading service excellent!

Very clear instruction on what i'm….

Very clear instruction on what I'm supposed to do in the document.

Thank You! You did a great job!

Fantastic service

Fantastic service. My essay was proofread and the structure edited to perfection. It left me with an essay that flowed well with no duplication. Thanks Brandy

This employee deserves a raise!!!

An essay for a scholarship I am applying for got flagged as 100% AI generated, after I had spent hours perfecting it. I had to use the help option, and the employee that helped me was great. Their name on the website was Willemijn, and they helped me all the way through, and explained that AI detectors, even those used by prestigious universities, are not 100% reliable. I was able to get the number down to 65%. I thank the employee, who I don't think realized how young I am, being that I am only 16. They were very understanding and polite, and they deserve to be rewarded somehow. Thank you, Willemijn, from a stressed out high school girl.

Hallo! Die Veronika war super schnell. Sie hat absolut verständliche Instruktionen hinterlassen. Ich konnte heute meine Arbeit abgeben. Dankeschön für die schnelle Hilfe. VG M

Muy buena experiencia

Great experience.

The turnaround on my paper was fast and efficient. I was pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism.

Also Kundensupport wird hier groß geschrieben!

Once again they did not disappoint! 24 hour timeline, got it done perfectly! Cannot say enough good things about them! I have used scribbr a few times and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again! Thank you!

The feedback was relevant and clear

The feedback was relevant and very clear. We followed almost every proposal.

Good job like always

Meticulous changes

Meticulous changes, good suggestions, and fast delivery.

This company is very good and reliable

This company is very good and reliable. I will use them again!!!

Excellent proofreading

My text was proofread professionally with many corrections and helpful comments. The proofreading was ready faster than expected.

Great experience! Turn around time was met! Very thrall! Everything you would want in a editor for scholarly works.

Great experience!

KI-Detector leider wenig hilfreich.

I was very pleased that the necessary…

I was very pleased that the necessary arrangements were made, taking into consideration what I had informed. The reasons for the arrangements made also guided me for the future.

Wonderful English editing service!

Yes, if your document is longer than 20,000 words, you will get a sample of approximately 2,000 words. This sample edit gives you a first impression of the editor’s editing style and a chance to ask questions and give feedback.

How does the sample edit work?

At Scribbr, we promise to make every customer 100% happy with the service we offer. Our philosophy: Your complaint is always justified – no denial, no doubts.

Our customer support team is here to find the solution that helps you the most, whether that’s a free new edit or a refund for the service.

Yes, in the order process you can indicate your preference for American, British, or Australian English .

If you don’t choose one, your editor will follow the style of English you currently use. If your editor has any questions about this, we will contact you.

Yes, you can upload your document in sections.

We try our best to ensure that the same editor checks all the different sections of your document. When you upload a new file, our system recognizes you as a returning customer, and we immediately contact the editor who helped you before.

However, we cannot guarantee that the same editor will be available. Your chances are higher if

  • You send us your text as soon as possible and
  • You can be flexible about the deadline.

Please note that the shorter your deadline is, the lower the chance that your previous editor is not available.

If your previous editor isn’t available, then we will inform you immediately and look for another qualified editor. Fear not! Every Scribbr editor follows the  Scribbr Improvement Model  and will deliver high-quality work.

Yes, our editors also work during the weekends and holidays.

Because we have many editors available, we can check your document 24 hours per day and 7 days per week, all year round.

If you choose a 72 hour deadline and upload your document on a Thursday evening, you’ll have your thesis back by Sunday evening!

When you place an order, you can specify your field of study and we’ll match you with an editor who has familiarity with this area.

However, our editors are language specialists, not academic experts in your field. Your editor’s job is not to comment on the content of your dissertation, but to improve your language and help you express your ideas as clearly and fluently as possible.

This means that your editor will understand your text well enough to give feedback on its clarity, logic and structure, but not on the accuracy or originality of its content.

Good academic writing should be understandable to a non-expert reader, and we believe that academic editing is a discipline in itself. The research, ideas and arguments are all yours – we’re here to make sure they shine!
