Minecraft Education Edition guide: Uses, features, requirements, and more

A special version of Minecraft for education.

Minecraft Education Edition

  • Education Edition toggle different

To most of the world, there are three different versions of Minecraft . The Java Edition is the original version, and it's available on MacOS and Windows PC's. It's known for being big, heavy, and very powerful. It supports mods , third-party tools and software, and has a huge number of hardcore players. The Bedrock Edition is the modern version, built to span across devices, platforms, and generations with a flexible and lightweight foundation. It supports multiplayer across different platforms, private servers known as Realms, and is available on way more devices. Then there are the "legacy" versions that no longer exist, like the old Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 editions.

There's actually one more version of Minecraft and that's the Education Edition. This version is built off the Bedrock Edition, building in powerful features useful for teachers and educators. This is Minecraft build for schools, libraries, museums, and more. It's not for fun, but it does make learning things like math, science, and programming fun. Here's what you need to know.

A game you can play anywhere with anyone.

The only thing that could make Minecraft even better is if you could play it in more places. Wait, you can? That's right, because Minecraft is available on almost every platform imaginable including Xbox One, Windows 10, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. Get it everywhere, play it anywhere.

What is Minecraft: Education Edition?

What can you do in minecraft: education edition, how is the education edition toggle different than minecraft: education edition, how do you get minecraft: education edition on your devices.

Back in 2016, Mojang announced a new project to help educators teach their students by using Minecraft as a fun and interactive tool. A little while later, Minecraft: Education Edition was born to the world, and it featured a ton of unique features and plans across a variety of curriculum subjects like architecture, math, chemistry, agriculture, and computer programming. Across all of it, Minecraft: Education Edition is focused on teaching children important critical skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity.

Because the Education Edition is actually just an expanded version of the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, Android and iOS, it also comes with all the same features present there. However, the Education Edition isn't quite as prolific as its base version, since as of now it's only available on Windows 10, MacOS and iPad devices.

The full Minecraft: Education Edition is specifically tailored to schools, and is currently being used in over 115 countries around the globe. It is a monthly subscription service that requires a Microsoft 365 Education account and a Mojang Account, so access is limited and everyday people won't be able to take advantage unless their school allows it.

There's also a toggle present in the base Bedrock Edition of Minecraft simply labeled "Education Edition" that appears in the Create a New World menu. This toggle is available on more devices like Android phones, and anyone who owns the Bedrock Edition can use it, but isn't as powerful or complicated as the full Education Edition is. More on that toggle down below.

Minecraft: Education Edition includes a surprising number of additional mechanics, administrative features and controls, tools for students to use, and exclusive items and resources that really drive home the focus of the game. The point of the Education Edition is to not only provide a platform in which students can learn, but also give teachers the tools they need to manage their classroom, keep everyone productive, and set the parameters for their lessons.

We'll divide the features of the Education Edition of Minecraft into three categories: items and resources, student tools, and educator tools.

Items and resources in Minecraft: Education Edition

There are a few exclusive blocks or items in Minecraft: Education Edition that aren't available in the Bedrock Edition. Some of these are tailored for use by educators, but the majority of the exclusive items revolve around the Education Edition's extensive chemistry toolset.

The items and resources in Minecraft: Education Edition are:

  • Balloon. The balloon levitates when placed, and can even levitate mobs if attached.
  • Underwater TNT. TNT typically doesn't work underwater. This kind does.
  • Underwater torches. The thing that everyone wants is in the Education Edition—torches that work even while underwater.

There are also a load of chemistry-focused items and resources, which are:

  • 118 elements and hundreds of isotopes. The periodic table exists in Minecraft: Education Edition. There are 118 elements and at least 400 stable isotopes for students to choose from.
  • Element constructor. Students can create elements and isotopes here, with sliders to choose the number of electrons, protons, and neutrons their atom will have.
  • Compound creator. Allows students to combine different elements into compounds. At the moment, there are over 30 compounds such as coal or soap.
  • Lab table. Students can take the elements and compounds they have created to craft items like bleach, which are actually usable in the game.
  • Material reducer. Where the aforementioned tables are strictly about construction, the material reducer takes Minecraft blocks and reduces them to their base elements. Since not all Minecraft blocks actually, you know, exist, there's a "?" block to represent fictional elements.

Tools and functions for students in Minecraft: Education Edition

Students can do more than just chemistry in Minecraft: Education Edition, and there are also ways for students to track their progress through lessons and challenges. Most importantly, though, is how easy it is for students to work together in Minecraft: Education Edition.

The items available for students to use are:

  • Camera. A tool for students to screenshot their projects and work.
  • Portfolio. A tool students can use to document their progress.

The functions and features available for students to use are:

  • Classroom collaboration. Up to 30 students can work in a world at a time, without the need to set up or rent a server. Students can also work solo, in pairs, or just join their other classmates in a world. This allows educators to scale lessons as needed.
  • Code connection. Allows students and educators to play in a fully functional Minecraft world solely by writing code.
  • 3D exporting. One of the coolest features of Minecraft: Education Edition is the ability for students to export their projects to Remix 3D and actually build them in the real world using 3D printers.

Tools and functions for educators in Minecraft: Education Edition

A bunch of children hanging out in Minecraft without educators and teachers being able to moderate them is bound to turn into giggle-filled chaos, so of course there are a ton of tools available to help define boundaries and keep students on task. This also helps educators scale lessons and challenges as needed to fit the classroom or objective.

The items available for educators and teachers to use are:

  • Chalkboard. Allows educators to outline lesson plans or instructions in game, with various sizes available.
  • Allow/deny blocks. Allows educators to specifiy areas where players (students) can build. Allow blocks mean building is allowed, while deny blocks mean, well, the opposite.
  • Border blocks. This allows educators to define set areas in which students can roam.

The functions available for educators and teachers to use are:

  • Tutorials. Minecraft: Education Edition is quite complicated, and can be very harrowing to the uninitiated. There are tutorial worlds available to both educators and students that teach how to use their respective functions, and the different things you can do in Minecraft: Education Edition.
  • Lessons. A very important aspect of Minecraft: Education Edition are the lessons. There are a huge number of lessons available from Mojang's website that are organized by subject and age group. Teachers can also upload their own lessons for other users to access from the website.
  • Challenges. In the same vein as lessons, challenges focus less on teaching about a specific structure and more on collaboration and cooperation. Students must work together to accomplish specific tasks. These can range from puzzles, building projects, cartography and much more. These are also available from Mojang's website.
  • Classroom mode. This is a master overview of the entire Minecraft world that allows an educator to see where everyone is at, communicate with players, and edit various settings for the world.
  • Additional item hotbar. Teachers can equip their students with an additional item hotbar to give them three more items then they could normally carry. Teachers can also populate that hotbar with whatever items they want. This hotbar is vertical to and to the side of the normal hotbar.
  • NPC's. Educators can actually design custom NPC's that can act as guide of af sort for students, and can provide additional information, including links to external references.
  • Admin commands. Much like commands in vanilla Minecraft, these new admin commands control certain functions of the world. Educators can give players ability to build even when in deny areas, to leave bordered areas, and a whole lot more.

Something that isn't immediately obvious to anyone, myself included, is how Minecraft: Education Edition is actually a fully separated experience from the Bedrock Edition, and how that "Education Edition" toggle you might've noticed when creating a new world in Minecraft doesn't actually enable the full Education Edtion. The reason behind this is simple: unless you're an educator or a student being taught by an educator with access to Minecraft: Education Edition, it might as well not exist for you.

The toggle in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is completely free, but it doesn't unlock all of the features. Instead, this toggle turns on the chemistry features for the Bedrock Edition. This means the elements, isotopes, compounds, and all the tables associated with them. The tutorial maps, admin controls, exclusive blocks and items, and some of the lesson plans and challenges can only be used if you have access to the full Education Edition.

That's not to say the toggle is useless. If you have a child you want to stay productive at home, or if they're staying home for some reason, the toggle still gives you and your child all the chemistry-focused features. If you're child isn't into chemistry (or like mine, is just too young), you can still combine the Bedrock Edition with the many, many lesson plans and challenges available on Mojang's Education Edition website . They'll just be a little more hands-on then if you had access to those admin controls and features.

So it's clear that Minecraft: Education Edition has been designed from the ground up to be very good at what it does. Their Twitter account is full of stories from students and teachers who have used the game for learning. How do you gain the same benefits from Minecraft: Education Edition? There are two different ways, depending on who are you or where you're coming from. Let's go over both.

If you're an educator or student and want Minecraft: Education Edition

The full Minecraft: Education Edition is strictly education, so it has similar requirements that, say, an enterprise-only service would have. There's not a how-to on getting Minecraft: Education Edition, because it depends a lot on who you are. If you're an educator, talk to your admin about using the game for your classroom. If you're a student, talk to your educator.

The requirements for Minecraft: Eduation Edition are:

  • You must have a Microsoft 365 Education Account and a Mojang Account in order to sign in.
  • You must have either a Windows 10 PC, a MacOS computer, or an iPad running iOS 9 or later.
  • If you are an educator, you must be a full-time employee of an educational institution, and have a work-related email provided by the institution.
  • If you are an educational institution, you must be operating in an official capacity as an accredited educational institution with the intention to teach its students.
  • If you are a home-schooled program, you must be officially recognized by a national organization or local educational institution.
  • If you are a library, you must grant free and public access to library services in your community or region.
  • If you are a museum, you must be an institution focused on educational purposes, or have permanent professional staff related to an educational program.
  • There is typically a subscription cost per user per year, but this can change depending on the volume of the subscription required by the institution, educator, or organization.

As you can see, these requirements are pretty set in stone, and don't give a lot of leeway for everyday people to gain access. That's why the "Education Edition" toggle exists in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, which is available to everyone.

If you don't have access to the full game but still want some of the benefits

If none of the above requirements describe you, you're probably like me or many other people: an average person with no official educational capacity, but either wants to learn, or has someone else (like a child,) to teach. That's okay, Mojang included a toggle in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition that enables the Education Edition's chemistry features, and they made all the lesson plans and challenges on their website accessible to anyone.

To enable these features for yourself, do the following:

  • Create a new world in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. We have a guide that goes over everything you need to know about this.
  • When creating your world, set the world type to "Creative." While you can do this in Survival, it doesn't make much sense, as you won't have any of the features you're enabling.
  • Scroll down until you see the "Activate Cheats" toggle. Go ahead and flip this on. Minecraft will ask you to confirm, which you'll want to do.
  • Right below that will be the "Education Edition" toggle. Go ahead and flip that one on too. This will enable the chemistry focused features for Minecraft.
  • Create your world. Once you've loaded in, you can find the chemistry features near the bottom of the Creative inventory screen.

Now you can use all the lesson plans and challenges available on Mojang's website to help you out. Unforunately there will be a learning curve, since you won't have any of the tutorial worlds, and not all the lesson plans or challenges will work (like any of the coding plans). Otherwise, you basically have free reign over whatever you want to do! This is a great tool if you want to be more hands-on with your child's learning, and still try to keep it fun.

A fun way to learn

The Education Edition turns Minecraft from an expansive creative sandbox to an interactive learning environment. Teachers can monitor progress and assign lessons while students can work together as a classroom, in groups, or individually to accomplish goals while learning more about various subjects. While most people probably won't ever come in contact with it, it's awesome that Mojang and Microsoft are working to have a more engaging presence in classrooms.

That's not to say the Education Edition has nothing to offer to normal people. Using the Education Edition toggle in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition gives you access to a whole host of chemistry-focused features, and the lesson plans and activities for Minecraft: Education Edition are free to access for everyone. Using this, it's not hard to make sure your children can have fun and stay productive wherever they are.

Minecraft Entity List (Education Edition)

In Minecraft Education Edition, each entity has a unique entity value assigned to it. These entity values are used in /summon commands.

Traditionally an entity is a mob which is a living creature that moves around in the game. This is true in most cases. However, there are a handful of entities that are items in the game such as an arrow or a lead.

Full Minecraft Chemistry Recipe List for Education Edition

Education Edition is one of the three editions available for Minecraft. As apparent from its title, Education Edition brings schooling and learning to the game. A massive young audience plays Minecraft. Through Education Edition, kids can learn about many different subjects, including chemistry. This guide lets players learn about the complete Minecraft Chemistry Recipe List for Education Edition.

Recipe for All Chemistry Items in Minecraft Education Edition

Elemental constructor, material reducer, compound creator, and lab table can only be obtained via the give command in Minecraft Education Edition. After getting them, players can begin to obtain elements, compounds and make chemistry items.

1) Heat block

Heat block is used to melt snow and ice blocks without emitting light. To make a heat block, players will have to add Iron, Water, Charcoal, and Salt to a lab table.

2) Underwater TNT

Underwater TNT is just like regular TNTs, but it can also explode when activated underwater. To make an underwater TNT, players will first need to craft regular TNT. Add sodium to a regular TNT to make underwater TNT.

3) Underwater Torch

Underwater torch is crafted by adding magnesium to the torch in the crafting area. This torch emits light even placed underwater in Minecraft.

4)Colored Torch

Players can make four types of colored torches: blue, red, purple, and green. Depending on the color you want, add any one of the following compound to a normal torch:

  • Cerium Chloride: Blue
  • Mercuric Chloride: Red
  • Potassium Chloride: Purple
  • Tungsten Chloride: Green

5) Hardened Glass and Hardened Glass Pane

Players will need three Aluminum Oxide, three Boron Trioxide, and three glass blocks or glass panes to make hardened glass or glass pane. In a crafting table, place three Aluminum Oxide on the top row, three Boron Trioxide on the bottom row, and three glass or glass pane in the middle row to make the hardened variant.

Bleach is crafted by combining three water and three Sodium Hypochlorite on a lab table. It is an alternative to white dye.

7) Ice Bomb

Ice Bomb is prepared by combining 4 Sodium Acetate in a lab table. The result can freeze water in Minecraft.

8) Super Fertilizer

Super Fertilizer is crafted by combining Ammonia and Phosphorus on a lab table. It is an improved variant of bone meal.

9) Medicines

Players can make medicines for specific side effects by adding chemicals to a regular water bottle in a brewing stand:

How to Create an Underwater Flying Contraption

  • Adding Silver creates antidote, which removes the poison
  • Adding Cobalt creates elixir, which removes weakness
  • Adding Calcium creates eye drop, which removes blindness
  • Adding Bismuth creates Tonic, which removes nausea

Players can make a sparker by placing one chloride salt and one magnesium and stick on a crafting table. The following colors are imparted depending on the chloride salt used:

  • Calcium Chloride: Orange

10) Glow Stick

Glow stick is crafted using surrounding a dye with seven Polyethylene and one Hydrogen Peroxide in a crafting table.]

11) Balloon

A balloon is crafted using six Latex, one Helium, one dye, and a lead. The balloon’s color is depended on the dye used to make it.

This wraps up our guide to Minecraft Chemistry Recipe List for Education Edition. Any missing item on the list can be obtained via creative mode or commands. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments!

A pattern made out of several square Quick Play icons featuring various Minecraft blocks, including grass, brick, sand and more

Quick Play is coming to Java and Bedrock Edition

Jump back into your most recent worlds – straight from the launcher!

Are you tired of constantly clicking? Want to save your index finger strength for punching trees and setting off creepers? Well, good news! Because the Quick Play feature is here, and it makes returning to your most recent worlds as easy as, well... click .

Quick Play is a new feature in the Minecraft Launcher’s interface that allows you to jump straight into your most recently played worlds while skipping all the screens and menus in-between. Here’s how it works: Once you’ve played in a specific world, it will show up in the Quick Play bar when you return to the Minecraft Launcher. Just click on the world, and voilà ... you’re in it!

A screenshot of the Minecraft Launcher showing the Java Edition Quick Play bar in the top right of the window.

Once you play a world, it will show up in the Quick Play bar, in the top right of the Minecraft Launcher window when you exit the game.

The Quick Play bar has a total of five slots, so once they are all filled, playing a sixth world will cause the oldest world in the bar to be bumped off the list. If you want to make sure a world (or more) stays in the Quick Play bar, you can simply pin it, so that newer worlds won’t bump it down.

This feature is available in both Java and Bedrock Edition and is enabled by default for your convenience (after all, we’ve already established your deep dislike of excessive clicking). However, if you miss the catchy rhythmic sounds of your mouse or want to check out the latest main menu splash text, you can disable it in the launcher’s settings.

All the data related to Quick Play is stored locally on your machine and is not saved anywhere else. Once you turn off the feature, all the Quick Play data will be deleted but your game worlds will of course remain unchanged.

And there you have it: Now you can spend less time clicking and more time in your favorite worlds! What are you even going to do with all that extra time? “Go outside”? Wait, come back!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do i enable quick play.

You don’t need to enable Quick Play because it's turned on by default for both Java and Bedrock Edition. However, if you disabled it in the past and want to re-enable it, simply open the Minecraft Launcher, click “Settings” in the lower left corner of the window, then scroll down to “Quick Play” and click the box near the bottom of the window under the “Quick Play” heading to enable the feature.

Which versions of Minecraft support Quick Play?

Quick Play is supported in version 1.20 of Minecraft: Java Edition and version 1.20.60 of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition or later only.

How does Quick Play work?

The Quick Play bar displays your five most recently played worlds in the Minecraft Launcher for more convenient access. Once you play a specific world, it will show up in the Quick Play bar. Once the bar is full, the oldest world deeplink in it will be removed to make room for the newest. If you launch a world that’s in a lower position, it will be bumped back up to the first position.

What types of worlds can I join via Quick Play?

You can join single-player worlds, server-hosted worlds, and Realms-hosted worlds via Quick Play.

There are no worlds in my Quick Play bar. How do I fix that?

A world will only be displayed in the bar once you’ve played it after updating to version 1.20 of Java Edition and version 1.20.60 of Bedrock Edition. Every time you play a Minecraft world, it will bump the previous one down on the list.

Can I manually add worlds to Quick Play?

You can't manually add worlds to Quick Play at this time, but you can pin worlds that you want to keep in it. This will stop those worlds from being bumped down even as you play newer ones.

How do I remove worlds from Quick Play?

At the moment, the only way to remove worlds from the Quick Play bar is to play enough other worlds so that the worlds you don’t want there are pushed out. For example, if you want to remove the world that’s in the no. 1 spot, you’ll have to play five other worlds.

What else can I do with Quick Play?

You can customize the icons for the worlds in the Quick Play bar using different block art you can pick in the Minecraft Launcher.

Does Mojang Studios or Microsoft collect my data to provide Quick Play?

No, we don’t collect or store any data related to Quick Play. All the data required for the feature is stored locally and deleted if you disable the feature.

How do I disable Quick Play?

To disable Quick Play, open the Minecraft Launcher, click “Settings” in the lower left corner of the window, then scroll down to “Quick Play” and uncheck the box near the bottom of the window under the “Quick Play” heading to disable the feature.

Does disabling Quick Play affect my worlds?

No. Disabling Quick Play will only remove the data related to the deeplinks the feature creates. Your worlds will remain safe and unchanged.

We’re constantly working on enhancing Minecraft based on your input! Have thoughts on this new feature? You can always leave your feedback , submit bugs , or reach out to Minecraft support if you’re having trouble.

Anti-Trans Policies Draw Scrutiny After 16-Year-Old’s Death in Oklahoma

The student, who did not identify as male or female, according to their family, died a day after an altercation in a school bathroom. The police said the death was not a result of trauma.

A crowd of protesters at a demonstration hold up various signs, including one that says “Save Trans Lives.”

By J. David Goodman and Edgar Sandoval

Reporting from Houston and Owasso, Okla.

A 16-year-old student in a small Oklahoma town outside Tulsa died after what the police said was a “physical altercation” in a high school bathroom, drawing outrage from gay and transgender rights groups who said the student was attacked because of their gender identity.

The student, Nex Benedict, who often used the pronouns they and them, told relatives that they did not see themselves as strictly male or female. Under an Oklahoma law passed in 2022, students must use the bathrooms that align with their birth gender.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the altercation, which occurred on Feb. 7 in a girls’ bathroom at Owasso High School. The police said the case was still under investigation.

The apparent severity of the altercation, and the death of the student a day later, has focused national attention on how it is being handled by school officials and law enforcement.

The Owasso Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday that no report had been made about the incident until after the injured student was taken to a hospital by relatives later the same day. At that point, a school resource officer went to the hospital, the police said in their statement. The student was discharged and went home, but was rushed back to the hospital by Owasso Fire Department medics the next day, and died there, the police said.

“It is not known at this time if the death is related to the incident at the school or not,” the statement said.

On Wednesday, the police said in a new statement that preliminary information from the medical examiner, based on a complete autopsy, “indicated that the decedent did not die as a result of trauma.” The statement did not suggest a cause of death, citing further pending tests including toxicology.

No other student was deemed to be in need of outside medical attention after the incident, the school said in a statement.

The school district issued a statement on Tuesday suggesting there had been “speculation and misinformation” about the circumstances surrounding the altercation, which it said lasted less than two minutes before being broken up by other students “along with a staff member who was supervising outside of the restroom.” The school said that all the students involved “walked under their own power to the assistant principal’s office and nurse’s office.”

The school district said that parents and guardians of the students were given the option to file a police report after they were notified about the altercation, and added that any student who is found to have been involved “will receive disciplinary consequences.”

The district did not say what discipline was imposed.

A spokesman for the school district, Jordan Korphage, said more detail could not be provided because of privacy laws, nor could the district provide information about any past reports of bullying against Nex.

“Nex did not see themselves as male or female,” Sue Benedict, a grandmother of Nex, told The Independent . “Nex saw themselves right down the middle. I was still learning about it, Nex was teaching me that.”

At a modest home in Owasso, a man who identified himself as Nex’s father said the family remained in mourning and declined to comment on the school’s handling of the incident. “We are grieving parents,” he said.

An online death notice described Nex, using their birth name, as a young person who loved nature, drawing and playing the video games Ark and Minecraft.

Melanie Atwood, 51, a neighbor two doors down from the family, said she remembered Nex as a young child who made Ms. Atwood cookies and liked to stop by to visit her cats. “It’s just terrible,” Ms. Atwood said.

Ms. Benedict said that after the altercation at the school, she was told that Nex had been suspended for two weeks. After coming home from the initial visit to the hospital, she said, Nex complained of a sore head. The next day, Nex collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital, she said.

The family’s lawyers released a statement on Wednesday saying that Nex had been “attacked and assaulted in a bathroom by a group of other students,” and added that the Benedicts were praying for “meaningful change wherein bullying is taken seriously and no family has to deal with another preventable tragedy.”

The death renewed scrutiny of anti-transgender laws passed in the state and rhetoric by Oklahoma officials, including the state superintendent for education, Ryan Walters, whose agency has been forceful in trying to bar what it calls “radical gender theory” in schools.

“It’s dangerous,” Mr. Walters said in a video made by the agency last year. “It puts our girls in jeopardy.”

The video highlighted a fight in a bathroom the previous year in which, according to a lawsuit , a female student was “severely” injured in a fight with a transgender student.

Advocates for nonbinary and transgender students said that the state’s policy on gender and bathrooms had led to more reports of confrontations in schools.

“That policy and the messaging around it has led to a lot more policing of bathrooms by students,” said Nicole McAfee, the executive director of Freedom Oklahoma, which advocates for transgender and gay rights. Students who do not present themselves as obviously male or female find themselves questioned by other students, they said. “There is a sense of, ‘do you belong in here?’”

In addition to the bathroom law, Oklahoma passed a ban on gender-transition care for minors last year. And in 2022, the state was among the first in the nation to explicitly prohibit residents from using gender neutral markers on their birth certificates.

Last month, the state education agency drew outrage from transgender rights groups after it named Chaya Raichik, who runs Libs of TikTok, an account on X that has posted anti-gay and anti-transgender content, to serve on the agency’s Library Media Advisory Committee, which reviews the appropriateness of school library content.

In 2022, Ms. Raichik reposted a video from a teacher in the Owasso school district who expressed support for gay and transgender students. The teacher was later fired .

“Chaya is on the front lines, showing the world exactly what the radical left is all about — lowering standards, porn in schools, and pushing woke indoctrination on our kids,” Mr. Walters told The Oklahoman last month .

Mr. Korphage, the spokesman for the Owasso schools, said that students who identified as transgender or nonbinary would be treated “with dignity and respect, just like all students.”

He added: “Our goal is to be inclusive of all students regardless of race, gender, religion or background.”

Outside Owassa High School on Wednesday, students said that the school had offered counseling to those who needed it, but that their classroom teachers had not addressed the national attention on the death of their classmate.

“There’s a feeling that something happened, but nobody is talking about it,” said Chris Turner, 18, a senior. “A lot of people have been acting different, and upset.”
